Lucian’s POV

I had left the office out of pure fear. I didn’t care where I was heading, as long as it wasn’t anywhere near Brielle, because I almost completely lost it with her back there.

Just as I managed to catch my breath and planned to head straight home to hide from the noisy world, a sharp pain struck my chest.

“Brielle?” I muttered, clutching my heart hard. The mate bond between us was slipping, like it was losing its hold entirely. “Something is wrong.”

Brielle’s POV“Jackson, I’m sorry. It was just a joke! I didn’t mean to hurt Velvet,” I heard Alice plead, rushing closer to us while Jayden carried Velvet on his back, heading straight for the clinic.“Jace! Please wait up!” Allison called out from behind. The raw rage boiling through my veins was so heavy I could have sworn I was about to rip both of them to pieces right there. But Jason’s hand clamped down over mine, his eyes locking onto mine, instantly pulling me back from the edge. They don't deserve you showing them that, Jason’s voice sounded clearly in my head. His lips never moved, but his eyes never left mine.Wait. What? Are you speaking directly into my head?Yes. It’s the mate bond, he answered silently. It only works with someone who carries supernatural power like you do. Because you’re the crimson blue-eyed wolf. It’s the only way I could calm you down right now, he added, tightening his grip on my hand. It’s fine, I answered in my mind, squeezing back.Beside us, Jac

Brielle’s POV“Jackson, I'm sorry. It was just a joke. I didn't mean to hurt Velvet.” I heard Alice pleaded, walking closer to us while Jason helped Velvet on her back and straight to the clinic. “Jace! Please wait up!” I heard Allison called from behind, the anger surging through me was so much I could promise I was about to strangle those two to death, but Jason's hand on mine with his eyes fixed on mine has solemnly calmed me. *They don't deserve you showing them that.* Jason said softly, a conversation only me could hear. His eyes fixed on mine. But his mouth were closed. *Wait. What? Are you communicating with me with your mind?**Yes. It's a mate bond thing. And it can only be done to someone who has a supernatural power like you. Because you are the crimson blue-eyed wolf.* He responded again. *It's the only way I could speak to you.* He concluded, his hand still holding mine tighter. *It's fine.* I responded, holding his hand tighter before listening to Jackson reprimandi

The mate bond between us was slipping, like it was losing its hold entirely. “Something is wrong.”Without wasting another second, I sprinted back toward the school. I pushed past open doors, frantically searching for her, asking anyone in my path, “Have you seen Brielle?”“No,” was all they kept saying. Then my wolf locked onto hers, forcing me to dig deeper. My wolf instincts took over the moment I saw her pulling herself up from the floor. Her power was no longer normal. She was about to unleash the extreme power of the blue-eyed wolf—the kind that wouldn't just drag her into things she wasn't ready for, but force a heav

Brielle's POVWe've met.Two words. And somehow they managed to do what two years of distance, a dozen failed relationships, and every wall I'd carefully built around myself couldn't.They cracked something open. But I'm getting ahead of myself.Twenty minutes earlier, I had walked into the house with Julian behind me and told myself I had things to do. A call to return. Documents to review before dinner. Julian could get settled on his own — Mrs. Chen would show him around.I made it as far as the bottom of the staircase.Stood there for a moment, looking up.Mrs. Chen can tell her dinner is at seven. That was the sensible thought. The correct thought. The thought a man with any self-control would have acted on.I was halfway up the stairs before I finished having it.I didn't examine that too closely. I just knocked on her door and said her name and waited, and when she opened it, and I saw her properly for the first time in two years — glasses slightly crooked, chin slightly lifted

Brielle’s POVThis wasn’t a rejection, but the way my heart constricted left me weak to the marrow.I clutched my chest, fist bunching into my uniform as tears tracked down my cheeks. A cold shiver racked through me. I scoffed at myself, knuckling the wetness away.“Why am I crying?” I whispered, brushing at my eyelashes as a heavy sob escaped anyway. It wasn't just sadness because he left; it was this hollow ache I couldn't make sense of. “This feeling…” My grip on my shirt tightened as I stumbled out of his office. I tried to catch my breath, swallowing hard against the tight knot lodged in my throat.I sniffled, trying to pull myself together, when a voice cut through the hall alongside the loud laughter of a few athletes. The hockey team, probably, given that they were still in their practice shorts.“Are you okay, beautiful?”Simon. The hockey captain, that infamous TikToker from Willowgrove. He stood there flashing a practiced smile, hand raised in greeting.“I’m fine, thanks,”

Brielle’s POV“I…I was…I…there was actually some speck of…” I stuttered, trying hard to make up some words but then it has obviously failed me. I could barely make up a word because my trembling hand had gave me away.“Argh,” he gruntled, causing me to realise I was resting a bit on his wound. Sweats dripped from his forehead to his cheeks, but he wasn’t ready to let me go.I tried to look away, but his hand was still pulling me, refusing to kind of let me go, his eyes boring into mine. And honestly, this was the first time I’ll be in this close proximity with Hardin. It has been very hard to even come this close. The gap between us started to close up, and my eyes continued to grew wide. My heart now hammering so fast I could swear my spirit was about to leave my body. At some point, I shut my eyes so close, waiting for whaterever it was that was about to follow when he suddenly placed me on the other side of the bed, gently getting off the bed, as he reached for his jacket which

Brielle’s POVThree years ago, if someone had told me my life would turn out this pathetic and broken, I would’ve laughed in their face.“Oh well, look who we have here,” a sharp, mocking voice called out behind me.The tray in my hand shook from a sudden shove. Before I could react, it slipped fro
