Sirella’s POV

The packhouse had been busy all day, preparing for the grand gathering. Alpha Donovan didn’t do anything small. The halls were decorated, the best wine was brought out, and the kitchen had been working nonstop. The guest list was full of high-ranking wolves, Alphas, Betas, and their daughters—women who were here for one reason.

To be chosen as Damien’s Luna.

I should’ve expected it. Donovan had made it clear that Damien needed a mate. But standing here, dressed in my plain servant’s uniform while the women arrived in expensive dresses, the reality of it settled in.

Damien would be picking a Luna tonight.

And I had to stand there and watch it happen.

Serving the Future Luna

I moved through the crowded room, holding a tray of drinks, my face blank. The other servants had been instructed to be invisible, and I followed orders well.

Damien was near the grand fireplace, surrounded by women. They laughed, touched his arm, whispered things I couldn’t hear. And Damien? He let th

Kieran’s povI had always felt insulted when people said that but at this time I felt pity for the idiot behind me. I turned to him. “You have money to pay me but not your debt. You must owe a shit ton of money. Stay away from me.”Then I kept walking as he stood there crying.By the time I reached my cabin, I’d calmed down enough to slam the door behind me. I didn’t bother locking it. If anyone was stupid enough to follow me out here they weren’t going to walk back out.I dropped my jacket on the floor before walking over to the shelf. There, I reached for a bottle and pulled out one of an aged whiskey. Popping it open, I drank from the bottle. It burned—but I liked that pain.I fell into the old wooden chair and stared at the fire. My cabin was so quiet. Too much so. I could hear the creaks, the wind, and the lonesome quite of remembrance.I looked at the walls; I remembered how I built this place myself years ago—just wood, nails and fire. I remembered dreaming of sharing it with

Kieran’s povOne tried to fight with a staff as I snapped it in two and beat him down with the pieces. Another tried to bite me. I grabbed his jaw and broke it apart.Bones cracked. Blood sprayed. My shirt was wet now, soaked with blood as I kept going. I didn’t want to keep going but I had to.More of the bastards surrounded me. I glanced across the space at the others. Bodies littered the floor. Some dying, some scrabbling away, some crying out for help but I didn’t pause. Then I saw him—their alpha. He was standing over everyone with widened eyes and he was terrified. Good. He should be.“You,” I spoke pointing, “are next.”He growled and ran at me. Fast. Strong. But not fast enough. We collided with a sickening thud, and he punched me in the face. I hit back harder as he kicked at me. I grabbed his outstretched leg and threw him into the trunk of a nearby tree. He rose, eyes swollen shut and blood pouring down his broken nose, snarling as he lunged once again. We fought dirty. Bi

Kieran’s povI stayed in my cabin at the edge of the pack’s land. It was quiet there. Just me, the walls, and the wind outside. I sat on an old wooden chair by the window and looked out at the view. Sirella’s words weighed heavily on my mind as I thought about Donovan and what he had done to her. The anger inside me began to burn like a dangerous fire making my hands tremble and heart pound in my chest. Somewhere deep under all that anger though there had been a numbness within me since it had happened. I could not feel anything and I just wanted to feel something. I wanted to feel alive.I looked outside my cabin and saw the sky has turned gray. A storm was coming. Yet all I wanted to do was go out there and stand under the rain and feel something at least. It walked me.Donovan had lied to her; he’d used her as nothing more than a tool. I felt my anger build, and then directed it at myself. I was stupid yo have let her stay in that place. And then there was a knock on my door. My

Damien’s povI was on the training yard, where I spent every morning. I stretched out my muscles while keeping my eyes open for anything unexpected that might happen here. The warriors around me were noisy. Jarek, one of the biggest warriors in the pack, had decided to take advantage of the attention everyone was giving him.“I’ll have you know,” Jarek said loudly, puffing up his chest, “there isn’t a man more powerful than me in all the pack.”“Yeah, Jarek’s the best. You all better watch out,” someone said as I rolled my eyes and continued with my stretches. But then Jarek looked right at me, his voice loud and clear.“What about you, Damien? You think you can beat me? Ha! You’re all talk. Weak.”I sighed and looked at him. “Is that a challenge? You wanna prove you’re stronger? I’m ready anytime.”Jarek sneered. “Ha! You? I’ve been in more wars than you. I’ll squash you.”I sighed and got up to look at him. “Then come on in. Let’s see how much of your bite you’ve still got.”Jarek’s

Kieran’s povFor the next week, I stayed away from Salvatore’s pack. I told him I had important work far away. The wolf did not ask many questions. He knew when to keep things quiet, and there were still others we had to keep it from.I did have to hide though.Keep them in the dark.If anyone knew where I was going or what I was doing, it would cause trouble. It could be tragedy.I stayed in a land deep in the woods and started to build a house. A real house, but small and simple. I worked with my hands every day. I cut wood from the forest. I made walls and a roof. I put in windows and a door. I made a small fireplace inside. The work was hard. My muscles hurt at the end of each day. But I did not stop. I wanted this house to be perfect for me and Sirella.I knew she was alone in Donovan’s pack. I was worrying about her every day, and now she was pregnant with my child. I had to keep her an’ our child safe. But I kept it hush-hush like, bullets went overhead day after day ‘n night a

Kieran’s povI was tired. My entire body felt weak. There were cuts on my hands. My arms were aching. We had come back to Salvatore’s pack after a gruesome war. The war wasn’t easy, we hadn’t had such before as well. It was a confusing battle as we didn’t know. Everyone looked tired at the moment. The warriors threw their weapon and settled themselves on the ground, some laid down right there. We really were exhausted.I went and sat at one boulder and closed my eyes for sometime, but I couldn’t rest there too. My mind kept thinking about her.Sirella.I hadn’t heard from her in days. That wasn’t like her. She always messaged. She always rang. But not this time. Something was wrong. I could feel it. I picked up my phone and called her.One ring. Two rings. Three rings. She didn’t pick up the phone.I tried again but still nothing."Damn it," I whispered. My heart was starting to beat fast.I stood up.“Where are you going?” one of the warriors asked.“I must see to something,” I repli
