Sirella’s POV

I stood there, my father’s words sinking in.

Damien had my mother.

I had to kill him.

The room felt smaller, the air thick. My hands curled into fists at my sides. My father’s gaze was steady, waiting for me to react. Kieran stood next to me, silent as always.

This wasn’t a choice. It never had been.

I gave a small nod. “When do I leave?”

“Tomorrow,” my father said. “You’ll return as a maid. Just as before.”

The words sent a chill through me. Back to that place? Back to where it all started? My chest felt tight, but I forced myself to breathe.

“Your presence there will not raise suspicion,” my father continued. “Kieran will escort you to the pack’s borders. He’ll stay close, watching, waiting for the right time to strike. You will act as planned. Get close to Damien. Finish this.”

I nodded again. My voice wouldn’t come out, so I just stood there, swallowing back everything I wanted to say.

I had no choice.

I nodded.

“Good,” my father said. “Rest tonight. You leave at daw

Kieran’s POVThe cabin was silent except for the steady scrape of my knife against the whetstone. Back and forth, slow and precise. I checked the edge it was sharp enough to cut through flesh without resistance.Good.I wasn’t expecting a fight, but I never let my guard down. Especially not now.Sirella was in Damien’s pack. She had gone back as a maid, just like we planned. She would move when the time was right, and when she did, I would be there—waiting for the moment to strike.Everything was in place. So why did I feel like something was off?I exhaled, resting my knife on the wooden table. Maybe it was just the wait. It made the mind restless, searching for problems where there were none.Or maybe it was the way she looked before she left. She wasn’t just tense. She was troubled.I told myself it didn’t matter. This wasn’t about feelings. It never was. Then my phone rang.I picked it up, already knowing who it was before I even checked the screen.Alpha Salvatore.I answered. “A

Kieran’s POVAlpha Salvatore’s voice kept playing in my head. Smooth. Cold. The kind of voice that never said a single word without a reason. That call wasn’t just a conversation. It was a move. A deliberate one.But why?I leaned back in my chair, tapping my fingers against the wooden armrest. I replayed the conversation in my mind, trying to pick it apart. Salvatore had given me information. A valuable piece of it. He told me about the Moon Bane—and about Sirella. His bastard daughter. The Moon Bane wasn’t just something that tricked your foe to be your mate .It is a blood curse, passed down through generations, waiting in silence until something woke it up. It didn’t appear in just anyone. It had to be triggered. And now, for some reason, it had awakened in Sirella now.I exhaled slowly, staring at the fire crackling in the hearth. While Shadows flickered along the walls, stretching, shifting. The room felt colder despite the warmth of the flames. The Moon Bane rarely appeared. Th

Sirella’s Pov I was running out of time.I knew it. I felt it.The only thing keeping me alive was the fact that my mission wasn’t over yet. The moment it was, Keiran would kill me. I was sure of it. He wouldn’t let me walk away, considering the fact that the moon band had marked him my foe.And I wouldn’t get the chance to kill him first. That thought never left me. It followed me everywhere, creeping into every moment we shared. Moments that could have been something else—something soft, something real—if things had been different. But I knew better.Keiran was not that kind. He was not gentle.Everything he did, every touch, every word, every look—it was all part of a game. A slow, cruel game meant to break me apart before the final blow. And yet, no matter how much I feared him, no matter how much I didn’t like him, he wasn’t my biggest problem right now.My mother was.She was trapped. Held by Alpha Damien like a pawn in a game I didn’t want to play. I didn’t know if she was saf

Sirella’s pov Alpha Damien said I was to continue my work as a servant—in service to my future Alpha. His words made me sick, but I had no power to refuse. Not when my mother was the price. Now, I lived in the palace. I worked there. I breathed the same air as him, walked the same halls. And worst of all, I stayed in the quarters closest to his, so I could attend to him whenever he called. The first few days were the hardest.I was alone.Even though I still had my secret meetings with Keiran outside the pack, they were brief, tense, and dangerous. We both knew if we were caught, we’d be dead. But when I was inside the palace, I belonged to Damien. And he made sure I never forgot that.I stood in the grand dining hall, holding a tray of wine. My hands ached from scrubbing the floors all morning, but I didn’t show it. I couldn’t show weakness. The doors opened. He walked in.Alpha Damien. He was dressed in dark robes, his presence filling the room instantly. His eyes found mine, like

Sirella’s povThe door swung open.A servant stood there, breathless, wide-eyed.“My Alpha,” she stammered. “It’s urgent.”Damien’s fingers tightened around my wrist for a second before he let go. His face didn’t change, but I saw it. Something in his eyes.Something he didn’t want me to see. Then, just like that, he turned away. “I’ll deal with this.”He walked out, not even looking back.I stood there, staring at the empty space he left behind. My skin still felt the heat of his grip, my chest still felt tight.I swallowed. Something was wrong.I turned to the window, pressing my hands against the cold glass. Outside, the sky was dark. The palace grounds were too quiet. A few torches flickered, and I saw shadows moving in the distance.Guards.A lot of them.My stomach twisted.I didn’t know what was happening, but I knew it wasn’t good.My fingers curled into fists. If only I already had my mother. If she was with me, I wouldn’t have to pretend to be weak. Alpha Damien’s POVSirella’s voice cut through the night like a blade.“STOP!”I turned my head sharply. She was pushing through the guards, her eyes wide with panic. Her whole body was shaking, but she didn’t stop moving. She saw her mother.Lying there on the ground.Lifeless.Something twisted in my chest, but I pushed it down. I couldn’t let it show.Sirella dropped to her knees beside the body. Her hands trembled as she reached out, pressing against her mother’s cold skin.“Mum…” Her voice cracked. “Mum, wake up… please… wake up.”She shook her, her fingers clutching onto her clothes like that would bring her back. Tears spilled from her eyes, falling onto her mother’s face.I clenched my jaw, watching. This wasn’t supposed to happen. She wasn’t supposed to die.She was watched at all times. She wasn’t a prisoner. She was free to move, to breathe, to exist under my rule. I didn’t take her hostage—I only brought her here to keep Sirella close. But now…Now she was dead.My hands c

Sirella’s POVThe world around me felt like it was closing in.I stood there, my mother’s cold body in front of me, my hands shaking as I held onto her. The voices around me became nothing but noise, distant and meaningless. My throat was dry, my chest tight. The tears wouldn’t stop coming, no matter how much I tried to hold them back.I didn’t care about Damien. I didn’t care about the guards. I didn’t care about anything. She was gone.My mother was gone.I buried my face in her dress, my body trembling. Then, a deep, powerful voice broke through the chaos."What is the commotion about?"Everything stilled.I lifted my head slightly, my vision blurred with tears.Alpha Donovan.Damien’s father. He stood tall, his broad shoulders stiff, his face unreadable. Even in his old age, his presence was enough to silence everybody. The air became heavy, thick with authority. No one dared to speak.Damien was the first to react. Sirella’s POV I could feel my heartbeat in my throat. My mother’s body lay lifeless a few feet away, yet I had to stand here, face dry, voice steady, as if my world hadn’t just shattered.Alpha Donovan’s eyes bore into me, dark and unreadable. He was waiting for my answer.Do you not know your father? His question hung in the air, thick with expectation. I knew the truth could get me killed. But lying to a man like him was just as dangerous.I forced my hands to stay still by my sides. Calm. Think. Speak carefully.“My mother never told me who my father was,” I said, keeping my voice low, careful.Alpha Donovan didn’t blink. His silence was worse than yelling. It stretched between us, cold and heavy. Then, finally, he gave a slow nod.He didn’t believe me.I could see it in the way his gaze lingered, in the way his fingers tapped once against his robe. But he let it go. For now.Behind him, Damien shifted uncomfortably. I didn’t look at him. I didn’t care what was going through his h

Sirella’s povPacing around with my heart beating fast, I didn’t know what to do. I knew something had to be done or I would be in serious trouble. That bastard of an alpha needed to be on the battlefield if I was going to be free from whatever shackles he had on me. I needed Kieran to kill him. It was the only way I would be able to free myself. With him back here, everything had changed, it was dangerous now. More than before.I needed to do something as I got out of my room. I didn’t pause as I quickly made my way through the corridors not wanting anyone to see me right now. Two guards stood near the stairs talking in low voices and I immediately turned back around taking the longer route instead. I needed to get to my room first and get my phone out of hiding. I needed Kieran’s voice right now. When I made it to my room I quickly locked the door and pressed myself against it. My hands wouldn’t stop trembling. I crossed over to my desk and took hold of my phone before dialling Kier

Donovan’s povI walked into my throne room that morning. The heavy doors opened as I approached, and a slant of the coming winter sun crossed before me to lay its brightness on the far wall. I looked in that direction without interest or pleasure.Three generals were drawn up there, waiting.“Good morning, Alpha,” they all bowed and said.I walked slowly with my boots tapping on the marble floor. I reached my seat and sat down on my black throne and kept one leg over the other.“Well?” I said, looking at the man to the far left. “Report.”One of my generals, a tall guy with a scar across his chin, stepped forward to speak. “We’ve reached battlefield contact, Alpha. We’ve established our camps. The troops are prepared.”I nodded. “And Salvatore?”“We haven’t seen him yet,” another general said. “But reports say he is close. They are setting their own camps as well.”“Setting camps,” I scoffed. “He might as well be laying his deathbed because I’ll make sure this isn’t like before. I’ll

Sirella’s povI woke up that morning with a burdened heart. My chest felt constricted and my hands were icy, though it wasn’t from the chill. I just had so much on my mind.I wanted so much to talk to Kieran at least once before he would get to the war and start fighting. Already I was missing him, I just needed to hold him even if it was just for a few seconds. He was the only one who could make me feel okay. At least while all this war was going on, I just wanted to know how to go through this tough time without even thinking of the sad times we were going through.I strolled the room, the world beyond the door was hushed, unnaturally so.Something would happen, I could feel it. Deep in my bones I knew something heavy was about to happen. I didn’t know what but I knew that it would be something big.I couldn’t stop the war, but I could be able to help in the little way I could.I looked out of my window to see so many warriors still leaving for the war with Donovan and his son Dami

Authors povThe march had begun.Wolves padded through the forest in a silent train, barely stirring the leaves as they traveled single-file behind their Alpha, Salvatore. The war was upon them. Hot breath streamed from their nostrils making white puffs that hung in the stagnant air. No one spoke, their thoughts too occupied with what was coming.Salvatore was proud of this movement. Minus the last time he had attacked, this would be an official battle that would drive those idiots to the edge and he would have the chance to take them down. He smiled within himself as he knew that there was no use in lying to himself. He would make sure they regretted coming to him for anything. He would destroy them. But Kieran had other plans. He stopped walking and dropped back until he was near the rear of the group. Then he walked up to Salvatore, his voice low.“Alpha, I have to leave. There’s something important I need to do.”Salvatore turned, his eyes narrow slits. He couldn’t believe that h

Kieran’s POVThe cheers in the war room were still ringing in my ears. My face stayed neutral, but inside, I felt sick. They had no idea.None of them did.Not Salvatore. Not his trusted generals. And yet they all clapped for me, thinking I was one of them.I stared at the map again, the valley, the forest… the places I had just mentioned.I was marking death zones — but not for the people they thought.Everything I said in that room would help my allies, not Salvatore’s army.“Excellent idea,” Salvatore said with a slight smirk, standing and clapping my shoulder. “You’re sharp, Kieran. You remind me of myself when I was younger.”I forced a smile.I wanted to punch him.But not yet.Later that NightThe packhouse was quiet, except for the guards at the doors and the distant hoot of an owl. I moved quietly down the hallway, my footsteps light on the stone floors. My room was dark when I entered, just how I liked it. But I didn’t rest. I couldn’t. Not with the war coming.I sat at my d

He was just humoring him.Everyone went on to talk but said nothing important.Meanwhile, in Donovan’s territory...Inside Donovan’s war room, the tension was palpable. There was a large map on the wall.Candles were burning.Donovan sat at the head of the table, his arms crossed.Beside him stood his son, Damien. The war Generals, strong wolves with cold eyes, were around them.“Let’s begin.” Donovan said. One of the generals opened a scroll.“My Alpha,” he said, bowing, “the spies have all returned.“And what did they discover?” Donovan asked quietly. The general pointed at the map.“They found Salvatore’s traps in the forest. They found guards by the river. But they also found a weak spot.”“A weak spot?” Donovan asked, leaning forward.“Yes, here,” the general said and he pointed to

Kieran’s povI snuck out of the barn, as silent as I possibly can as I made my way walking and slightly jogging.I got to the edge of the pack and zipped away with my super speed. The trees blurred by as I moved without holding back.I had to get out of Donovan's land and fast. I ran, and ran until I found myself at the borderlands between my pack's territory.I didn’t stop there either. I kept moving until I saw an old broken-down building far ahead. It was dark and there were no people around, perfect. As I ran, I got a call from someone as I halted and listened to the call. The allies I had sent messages to were at the building waiting for me. Good.I then walked up to the building and I noticed a couple of shadowy figures standing at.They were not moving, their gaze anchored to the shadows.I approached them with stealthy steps. They saw me and relaxed a little. “You made it,” one of them said.“Yeah,” I panted. “I’m here.”“And no one saw you?”“No,” I said. “I’ve been careful.

Sirella’s povI could feel their eyes on me all throughout the day as I got out of my room after having my bath. I knew some of the guards watched and followed me and I knew who had sent them.Even when I went to my room, sometimes I’d hear footsteps outside.I knew they had been sent by Donovan. The trust was gone. He didn't believe me anymore. And he wanted to follow me, to see if I made a mistake.I kept my head low, pretending not to see them.I was careful about everything I did. Finally the day got over. I was sitting in my room on my bed with an open useless book, just pretending to read it.The house was quiet now. Most of the wolves were asleep.Even the guards had relaxed a little, but I knew they were still there, hiding in the dark corners. Then my phone vibrated.I jumped a little.I quickly grabbed it and checked the screen.Kieran.My heart started to race.I opened the message. “I’m at the barn. I held the phone in my hand tightly as I called Kieran. My hands were shaking a little but I still pinched myself every now and then to be more confident in myself. Finally, after a few rings, he picked up. “Sirella?” Kieran’s voice came through the phone. It sounded worried.“Hey, I’m here,” I said as I looked around to make sure no one was listening.“Are you okay?” He asked. “What’s going on?”I took in deep breaths and closed my eyes for a moment. How could I tell him? How could I tell him what I had witnessed? How could I tell him Donovan and Damien were more evil than we realized? I was already tired of saying that to him and I was sure he knew.“I’m alright,” I said after a second, keeping my voice steady."Sirella," Kieran said slowly, like he didn't believe me.
