*SIANNA'S POV* It’s been a while since I saw Tara. I had to go back to the clinic because being under my mom’s supervision made Vance feel better about my health and safety. Curtis was still in his coma at the Crimson Hyde Pack and I meant what I said about cutting ties with him. Entrusting his mate to take care of him is what’s in the best interest of everyone. He will miss being an elite, but I am sure that my brother-in-law will find a suitable position for him in the pack. Lately, Vance has been introducing me into his line of business and I’ve helped with international meetings by hosting them online. He promised that after the baby is born and I could manage to travel, he would take me to visit some of the companies and get to know his executives. But for now, I should focus on myself and the baby. The pack house was being operated smoothly and Keisha and I have been trying hard to help Blayne with Cleopatra. He’s not the same Blayne that I was used to. He is so cute when he
*BLAYNE’S POV* “Gamma Blayne, we have a rogue child by the west border. She’s feral and demanding to get through.” Warrior Thatcher mind-linked. “Seize her. I am on my way.” I was at the training grounds with my elites and warriors as they practice new sparing methods to improve their defenses. “I have to take care of something. Continue until I return. Wade is in charge.” I shifted into my coffee brown wolf and ran to the Grayline Patrol Station at the west border. It took me ten minutes to get there. Rogues showed up all the time but they know better than to misbehave. Our patrol warriors knew that any resistance to abide by the rules for entrance is immediate termination. Because not all rogues are good or sane. Warrior Thatcher would rather avoid my fury by having me make the decision regarding the child than risk it. Since this was a child, I was hoping that she was not one of those rogues that I would have to eradicate. Killing children is not something that I do, unless und
*SIANNA’S POV* The red on his face showed that he was steaming to blow. The heat of Cleo's words was bouncing around like vapor molecules in the chamber of his head, and the steaming gas blustered from his ears. There was nothing cool about Blayne. He was the most hot-headed one out of the three most powerful men in our pack. Blayne was the one that always wanted a fight and never backed down. Once he was riled up, he influenced Vance and Duke in quickening their tempers too. Cleo had a strong personality, was blunt, and spoke from the heart. Once she stood for something, that stance was rigid. I admired her character. In my perception, she could keep Blayne in line and calm him down. If they could ever get along, she would be a good fit for Blayne. The divine scent of pumpkin mixed with pine trees hit my nose, my wolf wagged her tail in my head and I turned to see Vance entering the café. I was ecstatic to see him with the impulse to run into his arms. My wolf purred and cooed, tu
*SIANNA’S POV* “Hailey, what’s wrong?” Every cell in my body alerted me at the sight of her sobbing, and I became protective because I wanted to know who had meddled with her. She flew herself at me, throwing her arms around me so that I staggered backward slightly to catch her. Her swift movement had alarmed Vance, but he retreated from tossing her from me when I stopped him with my palm. Hailey continued to sob and I held her there for a minute. Vance took out the house keys and turned the lock, opening the door to call us in. We walked slowly up four steps to the porch, through the foyer, and sat on the couch. Then he picked up her bag from the porch and came in behind us. “Honey, what’s wrong?” I repeated. Vance went to the guestroom and came back with a box of tissues, handing it to me to dry her tears. She took it and wiped her face through hitched sobs. Her eyes found mine. I looked at Vance for him to leave us to ourselves and he exited the room, going to his study, g
*SIANNA’S POV* My hand slid to the left side of the bed to discover an empty cold space. I lifted my head to confirm that Vance had already left for the council's meeting. Duke accompanied him, and therefore, Blayne was in charge of the pack until they returned. With Duke away, I needed to phone the White Clovers Pack and speak with Raj. There was no morning sickness momentarily and I was grateful for that. I was feeling like the regular old me. I used my fingertips to massage my somewhat swollen stomach. It is so hilarious that Vance kissed my belly every night before we fell asleep and did it every morning before he left as a way to greet our baby. Unlike humans, wolves do not have a nine-month gestation period. Given that the gestation period for wolves ranged from 5 to 6 months depending on rank, I would give birth soon. That suggests that the pups of higher-ranked wolves developed more quickly. We haven't performed any additional ultrasounds since I wasn't ready for my mother
*VANCE’S POV* After that trip out of town to meet with the councils, I was happy to have Sianna back in my arms again. It might have been just one day, but it felt like an eternity. I missed her dearly. Hailey was back at the pack house and Duke remained unaware of her true situation with Raj. I know that he’s going to be one furious Beta when he finds out about the veracity. Now that’s going to be another sitch to take care of. I can’t wait for retirement. Turn my title over to my kid and take Sianna on a world tour like my parents did when I took over the pack. An unencumbered life is my greatest dream. I leaned back in my chair and placed my hand on the back of my neck to massage the area. The council meeting was the usual and nothing out of the ordinary. All the supernatural species are being governed properly and no cross-species war was brooding. The reduction in rogue attacks was drastically diminished to a favorable percentage. They commended me for that. Hank and Jerome w
*CLEOPATRA’S POV* As expected from the High Alpha, there’s no contending with his word. He would always get the final say. I glanced at my dubious mate. He just stood there not doing a thing to help. Nothing he does will ever quell the deep-seated desire to clobber him. My next glance was at the Beta, who was nonchalant and expressionless. I knew the werewolf laws from front to back. If he went deeper and connected all the relevant clauses from specific articles of the pack laws, it would be a losing battle. It was worth a try but my people needed a home. We have had to fight to keep our space in the mountains against other rogues. When our fighters got injured, some succumbed to their wounds due to the lack of medical supplies and care. Our children were uneducated because they could not attend school. We lacked the crucial professionals who would be an added asset to our welfare. If we had become a pack by ourselves, we'd bear an identity that fostered growth and integration for
*VANCE’S POV* “Babe, let’s watch a movie.” Pointing the remote at the large one hundred and twenty inches television as she scrolled through and found some available movies in the living room. “What did you have in mind?” I was in the kitchen sharing out some pistachio ice cream that she had a craving for and I was indulging in the treat with her. “How about something scary like this Morbius?” She shouted across the hall. My eyebrows bunched up as I sat beside her, placing the two bowls of ice cream on the center table with the spoons stuck in them. “How is that scary?” In fact, I rarely got scared of anything. “It is, haven’t you seen the trailer?” She defended but her point was not connecting with me at all. “Yes, and it’s about bat DNA. Nothing scary to me.” Her face was now irritated at me. “Okay, okay, we can watch it since you want to. I will enjoy it with you.” I gave her the ice cream with a loving smile. She played the movie, snuggled up to me and we gave it our attentio
