Much love :)
*CURTIS POV* “We all know of your mate’s crime.” Devyn would not shut up and kept running her mouth, “She is dead now.” She emptied the contents of her pouch, “Also the witch, Zelda.” My wolf was lamenting Jazmine's death. He's upset with me, and that's an understatement. To stop him from seeking retribution at the hands of Dark Wolverson, I spent the majority of the time fighting him off. I knew better than to charge into their territory and try to get that. Without effective plans in place, revenge was a sheer failure. And only one's cleverness can defeat an adversary who is more powerful and agile. I'm compared to the mouse going up against a dragon. If the dragon is intelligent, then the mouse will have to outwit him through the cracks and holes, but where the dragon was foolish, a coy mouse can easily maneuver and outsmart him. Vance was a smart, powerful, and ruthless dragon. ‘Kill them all,’ My wolf snarls around the clock. I ignore the feral wolf as I’m sitting deep in th
*CURTIS’ POV* (Eight days later) A peal of boisterous laughter left me as I proudly walked through the human town in the heated afternoon. It’s been eight days since I traveled in my wolf form, trespassing and prowling through territories to make it here. I'm in another state and could lie low here. Having to skip two other towns so that I'm not easily reached, in case they send troops to scout for me. Satisfaction and gloat are at the base of my emotions because I eluded a grudgeful Alpha Virgil and a vindictive Beta Astrol. I trudge through the arid open land vetting the emptiness of this region. Houses appear to be far distant from little businesses of boxlike buildings. The rain had made itself a rare visitor as the land cries out for saturation. The cashmere scarf covered my nose and mouth as I scoped for abode through the dusty wind. More importantly, I got the vial and dagger from Devyn, who hates my guts now. Who cares about what she feels towards me? My heed was more devo
*CURTIS POV* The bleak truth was revealed by her words. Because I did not need another blasted mate, I pushed my damn wolf back when I felt him speaking with me. Needless to say, one that was human and exiled from the werewolf kingdom. Resisting the sparks and the tug of the mate bond, I pushed her off gently. Taking the hint, she stepped back with scrutiny. “We are nothing,” I spat out, thinking that she was nothing special. “Do not expect anything of me.” Damn if I was going to let this feline divert me from my already-planned actions or hinder me from carrying them out. She scoffed with a godawful chuckle, “It’s not like I expected a mate either, but here……we…….are.” The emphasis on her words could not hide the contempt. The brunette returned with a bagged order and handed it to Gail, “Thanks, Gloria.” She hands over the money and pays for the meal. As I finished my meal, Gloria cleared my soiled plate and winked at me. She puts the dish into the sink behind her and wipes her
-VANCE’S POV* (Two weeks since Vance went home). “What is the prize for this year’s winning team?” Alpha Drake inquired as he took his seat in the grand conference room. “The best kill gets the chance for Elite training and to be promoted to Rank 5, in addition to $300,000.00 cash,” Alpha Virgil announced, my brother was here. Alpha Drake of the Obsidian Rose Pack nodded, while Alpha Juan of the White Clovers Pack whistled. “That’s a sweet deal this year,” Luna Phoebe of the FireBrick Pack commented. It was time for the Annual Hunters Parade that will be held at my pack. With Sianna and Valen, I preferred that we remained here than to be in another Alpha’s Pack. So we will be hosting the event. It's been two weeks since I returned home to my enchanting sanctuary. A week ago, we introduced Valen to the pack and held a blessing ceremony for him. A public explanation was given through fabrication to appeal to the pack members as to why they mourned his death and buried an empty cas
*SIANNA’S POV* Valen held the attention of everyone in the room. His uncle, Alpha Virgil, introduced him to his nine-month-old cousin, Valiant Hyde. They played together, cooing and gurgling at each other. Plus, I finally got to meet the rest of my in-laws. Things felt normal, and being with Vance again was fulfilling. He comes home earlier these days, helping me take care of our son, and attending to my needs. His only needs seemed to be about being with his family and, of course, making love. This he has done every night since the two weeks that he returned home. Finally, the Hunters Parade was here. He would be busier with the visiting Alphas and their entourage. Getting to know the other Alphas and Lunas was exhausting with a chubby baby in my arms. And when Vance took Valen from me as we had lunch, I was very relieved. I could not leave him with a babysitter because he was truly possessive of me. He cried unless he was with one of his grandmothers. But then Vance got a message
*VANCE’S POV* After helping Sianna get Valen from the car seat, we got into the house. The sad thing was that, once we entered the residence, the realization hit that an intruder had broken in. My wolf jumped on guard and growled viciously at knowing that someone had invaded our sanctuary. The unfamiliar coconut scent revolted my wolf since our lair and sanctuary was disturbed. Valen stirred on my chest and half-opened his eyes. Sianna softly pats him on the back and looks at me questioningly. “Someone was here,” I told her through the mind-link. Immediately she took Valen from me, and my senses heightened to trail the uninvited scent. But first, I took my mate and son to our safe room and checked the camera footage there. Sianna laid on the small pull-out couch as I got busy scoping through each room and then checking the history recordings. Bringing up all of the screens for every single area on my property, I scanned through them with my wolf’s vision. Coming from the ash trees
-VANCE’S POV* It took considerable time to discuss minute matters. Once we had settled on a course of action, the other three left us when night descended. Our secondary objective was to convince Curtis that the dagger had indeed been effective, so that he would act while we had him in our grasp. However, my concern ran deep within me. Asking Sianna to wield the web of entrapment for her ex-boyfriend troubled my heart. For one, I despise the thought of her being alone or around him. Next was whether she was able to stand by while I killed him. What will she truly do? While going to the bathroom and dragging me along with her, the worries of my mind could not settle. We quickly showered together so that Sianna could rest. “Baby, even though you are not talking, I can feel you slipping into one of those moments where you are shutting your thoughts away from me.” Her wary voice commented. “When I catch Curtis, would you stop me from killing him?” I could not help asking and praying
***TRIGGER WARNING: The following chapter contains talks of abuse. Reader discretion is advised. ***************** *SIANNA’S POV* Hailey’s burning angry eyes flickered from Duke to Raj and then to Nitya. She stared in disbelief at Raj and fumed silently as she masked a delirious chuckle. His mother’s expression was calm and pleading like she deeply wanted Hailey’s approval. “The report that was given to us during the time that Hailey was at the White Clovers Pack,” I spoke since no one else would, “Is that you did horrible things and tried to separate their bond. What do you have to say about that?” “I am sorry for hurting Hailey,” Nitya began and turned to face Hailey as an act of sincerity, “I never gave you a chance because I thought that only I could know what was best for my son. When his father died, I swore that I would give him the best of everything. I thought that someone who understood our culture was better suited for him. You are his mate and I had failed to trust th
