LOGIN“Well, since you already spilled the beans, I just finished it off.” Tatum sighed and sat on the toilet as I turned the shower on and got undressed. “He feels like shit for following Jo and not saving me. Now, he feels like a failure to you.”
“I don’t need him to start caring now. I just need him to not force me to change packs until I’m ready.”
“How is that going?”
“About the same. He wants a submissive Luna, and I won’t give that.”
“Brett. I know I have had my own shit, but I’ve listened to that lie a few times. Try again.”
“You Collins are annoying.”
“And you need to diet. Try again.”
Dark humor was our way of coping. “Tate. I’m still having nightmares about Rowan, Michelle and Tina. I can’t let Piercy help and then get attached if he won’t let me be who I am. Then it gets messy, and I’d have to move back…”
Tate was quiet for a moment. “Yeah, I’m still struggling. Maddox helps, but sometimes it is too much for him and he fights Cade to get the stress out. Doesn’t help he tries to take all my pain away.”
“You are?” I wasn’t sure why that surprised me. “I mean, I get it. Your trauma was far worse than mine.”
“Don’t do that!” Tate snapped at me as I turned off the shower. “Don’t minimize your trauma because I had a different experience. Your emotions are valid, Brett. Listen, we were both raised to keep our feelings inside. Maddox has honestly saved me from myself. Cade is going to learn the hard way what it means, and I’m afraid you will, too. Let Piercy at least try. I’m still not a huge fan of the man, but he saved my babies. For that, he has my respect.”
“Why don’t you like him?” Grabbing some joggers, I added a crop top and braided my hair. After some makeup, I’ll pack nicer clothes to meet his pack in.
“Because you don’t. If you would have accepted him already, I would like him. You don’t so I don’t.”
“That is a horrible reasoning.” I just looked at her and laughed.
“Listen, I know you are moving to a pack that doesn’t think women should fight, but when have you ever turned down a challenge?”
Putting my lip stain on, I just sighed. “You didn’t want to lose yourself.”
“Yeah.” Tate nodded. “And I haven’t. My shop opens next week and Vivian has Luna roles.”
“What about Blair?”
Tate and I shared a look before we laughed. She watched me put my makeup away and peel off the stain. “I was forced into a lot of things with Tina, Michelle and Rowan after me. You have time. Just… don’t lose the chance to find actual love. At the end of the day, I’m just a phone call away. Maddox will always be there to get you, if I can’t.”
“Thank you.”
“Of course. I’ll miss you tormenting Cade, knowing you only did it because you wanted to get under his skin.”
“If he wasn’t going to accept me as family, I was going to torment him.” I just sighed. “That probably means Jo knows.”
Tate sighed and followed me out of the bathroom. “Yeah, well, she laid into him hard. I was actually pretty proud of her for that. Seeing bitchy pregnant Jo with hormones is great.”
That made me laugh as my door opened. “I’ll miss that.” I said as Piercy walked in.
“This looks fun.”
“I never did get to thank you for what you did.” Tate looked at Piercy.
He seemed uncomfortable, but not as bad as before. “Regardless of who, I’d never let anything happen to a child.”
Tate nodded and stood up. “Still.” She looked at me. “Remember what I said.” She kissed my cheek and walked out.
“What was that about?” Piercy grabbed my bag and picked up my makeup.
“Just girl talk.” Looking around, I didn’t see anything else that was mine. “I need that bag on the plane so I can change before we land.”
“I actually made my beta clear everyone so you can have one day to look around without meeting too many people. We can discuss rules and what works for either of us.”
“Oh, thank you….” I think. However, we got to foyer.
“Brett.” Maddox did a double take as he walked in, dripping in sweat. “Piercy, can you come to my office?”
“Sure.”
“I’ll go eat …” sighing, Maddox stopped in front of me.
“I’m not Cade. That’s up to Piercy.” He walked on, leaving me looking at Piercy.
“Come on.” Rolling his eyes, I was happy for the moment, anyway.
“Shut the door and lock it, please.” Maddox leaned against his desk.
“Okay?” I was so confused that I didn’t have a bitchy comment.
“Is this a lecture on mating?” Piercy raised an eyebrow.
“Fuck no. You are grown ass adults and I’m too busy to care what you do behind closed doors. However, I will say Brett always as a home here. Not that I don’t want it to work out, but I also don’t want you to feel unwanted.”
“Fucking Tate.”
Maddox smirked. “Right? Anyway, I asked you to come in here because I’ve gained access to Reed’s pack and properties. Between what I own, what he owed and Cade… that’s the whole fucking place. I have designed a project for building a research facility for illnesses.” Maddox reached around and grabbed a vanilla envelope. “I’m starting with the table members. Read it over. No pressure either way. I have more than enough money to run it. However, I’m looking at future growth and awareness opportunities. That’s where you guys come in. Just read it over, talk about it together and let me know.”
“What else are you doing?” I asked, looking at Maddox.
“Well, I have plans to open the quarry up, Tatum has her shop and I want to start farming and maybe a school. We shall see.”
“Developing your community?” Piercy asked.
“Exactly. If done correctly, we will thrive and I’ll have all the money to keep going.” Maddox pushed off his desk. “Come on. Tatum is yelling for you to go eat.”
“How is she?” Piercy asked.
Brett didn’t even hesitate. Her hand shot out, connect with his throat. Jo had to jump up as Cade dropped to the floor. “That was fun.” “Tatum!” Jo stomped her foot. “What? He knew it was coming. Grow a pair and get back up here.” Tatum just rolled her eyes. “I’m liking Tatum.” Gavin was laughing at Cade. “Her bad side is just as bad as Brett’s.” I muttered. Cade got up as Jo grabbed a card.“Black six.” Maddox looked at me. “I want Gavin and Piercy to arm wrestle.” My eyes instantly snapped to Gavin. “Get up.” He told Brittany. “Fuck yeah!” Brett jumped up. Everyone moved back as we got into position. “Standard wrestling rules.” She glared at us. “Go!” As Gavin pulled, I pulled too. No wolves could be used. This was purely arm muscles. “Looking a little red?” I baited. Gavin’s eyes narrowed at me. “Looking a little skinny there.”“End this so I can take you to the dance floor and rub my ass all over you.” Brett whispered in the mind link. That’s all it took. Slamming Gavin’s
“I’ll start.” Shifting Brett over, I grabbed a card. “Black three.” My eyes landed on Beau. “Go fuck your mate against the wall.” His eyes narrowed at me. The challenge hung in the air as I just smiled brightly at him. “Please?” Stacy traced her finger down his face, making him look down at her. “Fine.” Grabbing her arm, the entire table cheered as he slammed her against the wall. He didn’t waste any time pulling her dress up as she freed his dick. “My turn.” Brett smirked as she turned back to the table. “Red king… damn.” “That means we get to decide…” Brittany looked at Tatum. “What’s a good question for Brett?”“Oh! Oh! Yes! Yes!” We all turned to see Beau’s jeans slipped down, exposing his ass as he thrusted into her.“YES!” Stacy climaxed just before he dropped her. Her mouth barely got around his dick as he emptied his balls into her.“Mhm…well…” Tatum was smiling at Stacy, trying to focus. “Tell Peircy about the time you broke your finger.” Brett’s jaw dropped. “I can’t dr
Gavin locked the door when Maddox left. “That was … interesting.” His eyebrows were raised as he watched his feet move him closer to me. “He’s always been more level-headed. Even when Tatum was taken, he made the right decision. I’m guessing he only deals with Cade’s dumbass because of Tatum. Otherwise, he would keep his distance.” “His offer isn’t a bad one.” “What? Give everyone a year to relocate and then flatten it?” It honestly wasn’t. “Who was his beta?” “Does it matter?” Gavin rolled his eyes at me. “What? Don’t want to fight?” I was baiting him.Unfortunately, he didn’t take it. “It would be your fight.” “Shit. I still have some aggression that I need to get out.” “How do you plan to do that?” Gavin looked at me knowingly. Standing up, it was time to get ready. “By testing her ability to submit to me.” Smirking, Gavin just shook his head as we walked out. “She is your equal.” “No.” I had to disagree. “Far more than me.” He nodded in agreement as we reached his room.
Piercy POVAs hard as I tried to focus, I couldn’t. Brett was feeling so happy and loved. She was finally around four girls that she called friends. This is what I should have felt at her Luna ceremony. The five of them laughing and smiling as they got ready. My heart still broke thinking about the ceremony, but I needed to move on. “How’s it going?” Gavin walked in without knocking. “It’s going.” Sitting back, Gavin smiling knowingly. “She is happy. Why can’t you focus?” “Just that. This is the first time she has felt this peaceful… this happy. She has truly let everything go and is whole.” “Plus, she is pregnant and you are feeling clingy and needy.” Gavin smile was the biggest I’ve ever seen it. “Not sure those are the right adjectives.” Rolling my eyes, I just smiled and looked at my hands. “You sure?” “No.” Sighing, I looked at my friend. “I’m proud of her. She handled everything perfectly.” I nodded, remembering how she mastered it. “She did great. She has a knack for
I could feel everyone holding their breaths. No one moved or even shifted where they stood. Just waited to see how this was going to go. “Why are you here?” I finally settled on.Her face dropped, but she accepted it. “Did you read my letter?”“No.” Sighing, I sat up. “I honestly forgot about yours. With Cade and Maddox here, I just focused on them.” It’s like she knew already. Digging in her purse, she pulled out a folded piece of paper. “Here.” “No.” Shaking my head, I just took it and threw it away. “Tate, you were… you are my best friend.” My mouth opened a few times before I shrugged. “I’m not mad at you. I just found myself. Found who I was without being commanded to protect you. I’m not the same person, but these…” I turned on Piercy’s computer and the picture of her kissing my cheek. “… I’ll cherish these memories. You made me smile. Even though I was commanded to not feel. You three forced a connection into my heart. You, Beau, and Hayden will always be my family. Sometimes
That made me smile. “Okay, fine. Only because I’ll be getting fat soon.” That reminded me. “Why hasn’t Tate been blowing up your phone to talk to me?” My eyes narrowed at Maddox. He sat down in a different chair and folded his arms like he didn’t have a care in the world. “You called her fat. I’m not telling you shit.” “I’ll call her fat to her face.” Maddox laughed, but shrugged. “That makes sense…” Brittany was deep in thought.“What does?” I asked.“Just everything. Why Gavin has felt so protective of you recently? Why all the guys didn’t want us there so they only focused on you? They were focused on keeping you safe so you didn’t lose another pregnancy.”The words stung. I just looked down at my stomach as the pain passed. “I’m sorry if that hurt your feelings.” I finally landed on as I looked up. Brittany was so shocked that she didn’t have a response to that. “I… I… what?” “If it made you jealous or feel left out? I wasn’t trying to take his attention from you.” “Oh!” Brit
