06. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!(2)

Jane sighed as she picked a stone and threw it across the river that was in front of her. She had been here for a while, there was no clock, no smartphone, no technology, and somehow the night took longer to arrive. She sat down on a small rock and rested her head on her palm as she went deep in thought.

Emily had been able to explain to her what her new world was. She remembered the conversation that they both had that night as it was still fresh in her brain.

"So you claim to come from another world better than this?" Emily asked surprisingly and Jane looked around before replying affirmatively.

"At least, from my experience yes."

"And you people use what again?" Emily frowned.

"Phoned, gadgets..."

"Okay...okay, that's enough. I don't understand what those words mean. I think I will have to trust you on this because you look fragile and certainly you don't know your way around here. And also, you mentioned something about falling into what looked like a portal..."

Jane nodded.

"And it brought you here?"

"Yes."

"I think I have heard about this portal of a thing before." Peter, one of the twins cut in and looked at the ladies.

"I once overheard the guards at the gate talking about how one was broken and that it needed to be fixed." He explained.

"Only the vampires and witches possess it. "

Jane blinked, "What are you guys? Can you please explain what this whole world is to me? I am confused."

Emily sighed and patted Jane's thigh. She shared intense eye contact with her before responding slowly as if counting her words.

"I... don't... think...you...will...be... able...to...catch up."

"At least I should be knowledgeable about my surroundings, why is the moon red? What's happening? Who are you guys? Are you some sort of creature too?"

"Let me explain to you in the little way that I can. This is a new world and it comprises different beings. All those things you listed earlier don't exist here. We have the Vampires instead and the witches ruling this world. However, they are not the only creatures. There are many other creatures however they are minorities and probably rogues too. The ones you met that night my brothers rescued you...they are the less of the terror you will encounter if not careful. This moment is their moment. The red moon is known to be the very moment when they can do as they wish, they can eat any creature lesser than them without being sanctioned by the Vampire Royalty. "

"Are they also Vampires?" Jane asked.

Pan, the second twin scoffed, "I wish."

Emily smirked and then continued, "Many creatures have fallen as victims to these creatures either purposely or unintentionally. Whenever they feed like this, it takes them another moment to feed again. So during the normal days, we don't see nor hear of them. Till now, I still don't know what kind of creatures they are - they're not witches, vampires, fairies, werewolves, or even mermaids. Everyone just calls them the Blood Creatures. So we stay away from them and make sure we don't go into the forest because that's where they lure their victims." She explained. Jane folded her palm and shuddered. It was night and listening to something as horrific as this while also having the mental picture of these creatures devouring a harmless being terrified her to her core. She just had to keep swallowing hard.

She reached out to her cup of water and drank it at once with shaky hands.

"So what are you guys?"

"We are known to be just TRANSFORMERS. This means we can take up any form of anything or anyone we wish. We also can create confusion and tamper with one's mind or thoughts without going through the whole spell thing - ours is natural and we are smooth at it." Pan praised their qualities. Jane forced a subtle smile and looked away. It was good they were normal compared to the beast that she had met.

Jane picked another little stone and threw it across. So which one did Allen and the rest belong to? If he belonged to this world, how then did he become the grandson of Old Madam Ryan, or did they perhaps know something too? Is everybody In that mansion a part? She groaned. Who else was going to answer all her questions?

Just then, someone tapped her from behind and she jerked off, her heart skipped a beat before glaring at the person. Pan raised his hands and chuckled.

"Calm down, sis. Emily is calling you."

"Oh okay."

She followed him. Emily was testing the strength of her bow and arrows. When she saw Jane, she stopped and put them down.

"Hey, Sis."

"Hey," Jane replied softly.

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"I told you to guess...not to repeat after me." Emily pouted and Jane smiled.

"I can't guess."

"Alright... Alright. I have found a way for you to leave this place." She announced and Jane suddenly brightened up. She was in a state of shock as it took a while for her to recover.

"Are...are you for real?"

"Yeah. My brothers' kinds figured out that the portals must lead to your world. At least, if you enter through the portal and it lands you anywhere in your world, you should be able to find your place, don't you agree?"

Jane nodded extensively. There were butterflies in her tummy as she listened closely to the plans that they had made, clinging onto that tinge of hope within her that things would go well.

[Back in Jane's world]

Sophia stared at the gate, wondering if she should manipulate her way into the mansion or just wait.

She couldn't sense Jane's presence anymore and was unsettled. Even if she had traveled to another part of the country or outside the country, she would still know. But her presence had suddenly disappeared from the face of the Earth. Something that worried her a lot.

She had also seen that incident. Allen was missing too. Where did they both go? This fueled her emotions to want to check it out. She passed through the walls and made herself invisible to the guards. As she entered the sitting room, she saw Ben and Xander going through paperwork. They were both laughing at something and Sophia shook her head.

"Fools." She muttered.

Just as she was about to move, Drake appeared with a glass of wine. He was wearing grey sweatpants and a white armless shirt. His hair was rough though as he didn't bother putting them in place. It gave him a messy yet hot appearance. Sophia found herself staring back at him.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Was he able to see her? Why was he not saying anything? This spell that she used was powerful enough to keep her hidden. She had a lot of doubts going through her mind as she became nervous.

Drake put down the glass of wine and walked towards her. Sophia's eyes widened. Oh no. But he just walked through her, appearing behind and she instantly twisted with confusion. It was Kyle who just arrived and Drake went to speak with him. Sophia quickly located Jane's room but found no one there. She went to Allen's room, it was empty too. Then she found Bruno lying unconscious. She sensed that Drake must have put him to sleep but why? What was happening?

Just as she was about to step out of the room, she collided with Drake and gasped when their eyes met. Drake smirked.

"Long time no see."

Before she could react, Kyle appeared out of nowhere and knocked her out. She fell into Drake's arms unconsciously.

Emily was leading Jane and her brothers to that very portal that she had seen. The one that could help return Jane. It was already getting towards nighttime and Jane was somehow worried that she might not be able to make it because of the red moon. However, Emily kept reassuring her that there was going to be no problem whatsoever.

Nevertheless, the problem occurred just after they rejoiced on seeing the portal.

"But why would a portal be here?" Pan asked.

"Probably an abandoned one."

"That's stupid," Pan replied.

*We don't have time for discussion. Jane get in there quickly."

Jane did as she was told but turned back to bid her farewell.

"Thank you so much."

Emily clapped eagerly, "Yeah... yeah, just get in quickly."

A branch of the tree close to them suddenly cut off and fell on the portal and they all look towards the tree. The siblings' eyes widened and they switched to screaming instantly.

"Run for your life!!!" Pan pulled Jane with him and a fierce chase started.
