Bella's Pov- Present day (16 years old)
"Did you not like the dress my lady?" My maid asked as she came into my fathers office with the shredded white ball gown that my father had prepared for me. Or I should say the gown that my father prepared for me that once was beautiful and whole but now looked like a cat had used it as it's scratching post. "Does my father know where I am?" I asked, completely ignoring her question. Her cheeks seemed to flush instantly telling me that he did and that he probably told her to check in his office when she told him she couldn't find me. I cursed a few times as I stood up and made my way around his black executive desk. "If I recall my father isn't the one paying you to work here, you should remember that before I turn 18 and decide to fire you." I mumbled as I walked towards the door causing her to pale. "I didn't realize that you thought so lowly of me." My fathers deep voice had me paling. "No." I whispered as I spun around. I instantly stiffened as I stared at my father through the screen of the maids phone. His narrowed eyes had me panicking. I looked up at the maid with a scowl before I was snatching the phone out of her hand. "Daddy." I sang in a cringy voice that I knew was anything but convincing. "Why aren't you dressed?" He asked causing me to sigh in relief. I put on my brightest smile and brought the phone leveled to my face. I could easily talk myself out of this, or at least I hoped I could. "There was a small ripe in the dress and the maid refused to get a new one. So I ripped it up and decided I wouldn't go." I lied dramatically. If I were to be honest the dress looked hideous. I did not want to look like a princess that was looking for a prince. Every outfit that my father picked for me cried damsel in distress. I was the one and only heiress of the most powerful empire in the world and my father expected me to act proper and like a princess. I was suppose to be calling the shots like my mother had taught me not, running around at parties trying to impress any and everyone. "Than you should've called me. I would've got you another one." My father stated with what sounded like softness but with him it was hard to tell if it was forced or real. My mother had told me that he only wanted power and he would do anything to get it. Even if it meant giving my hand in marriage to a man or I could say boy that I didn't want to marry. "Actually I was thinking that I could st." I started but was interrupted by him before I could finish my sentence. "I'll have another dress brought to you. Make sure your hair and make up are done before it gets there. I'll be there to pick you up at 7." He stated. I had no time to argue before he was hanging up the phone. I cursed a few times as I turned my attention back towards the maid. "You should start looking for a new job because once I marry, you are the first one to go." I snapped as I turned and walked away. ———————————————————————————————————My mom once warned me that I had to be smart and keep a low profile. She forced me to act like the proper princess and to never let anyone know about the plan that she created. For years I acted as she wished and did everything my father asked of me all for her to leave after I made a simple slip of the tongue. She had promised me that she would stick it out until the end just for her to run away when we had so much to lose. "You look beautiful." The stylist said as she turned me towards the mirror. I looked at my brunette hair that made my blue eyes stand out and sighed. The simple wavy style made me look like the perfect daughter or I could say a perfect future wife for my perfect future husband. "You could've done less. Maybe made me look like I didn't have enough money for a proper stylist." I mumbled causing her eyes to go wide and her to gasp over dramatically”. I ignored her and turned towards the light blue dress. The dress that looked even more ridiculously than the first one. I knew my father was punishing me because I hated ruffles and the whole bottom of the dress was made of ruffles. I could only thank god that he didn't buy a dress that had ruffled sleeves. If not for the corset that at least made it look half decent I may have run the other way. "I'll let you get dressed than." She stated as she walked out of my room before I could protest or reply with a smart remark. I groaned as I slowly stood up and walked over towards the dress. I touched the fabric with two fingers and allowed myself to get lost in the softness of it. No matter what my mom said about my father, I could say that he always bought me the best of whatever I wanted. If I wanted a purse it had to be the most expensive and the only one of its kind. If I wanted new shoes it had to be the most comfortable ones to exist. None of my heels hurt my feet for that exact reason. Even if it wasn't his money he was spending, I can still say that I was treated like a princess. A princess that just wanted to be a queen.Lucas's pov "Is she finally asleep?" Theodore asked as soon as I walked into the pool room. "Yes." I said as I sat down on a chair next to Robert. "It took long enough." Theodore complained in a clipped tone. " She just wanted to watch another movie." I said as I stood up and walked over to the mini fridge that was next to a mini bar. "You could've said no." Theodore muttered. I ignored him and grabbed myself a sprite. "As long as she's without her memories, Lucas will be the perfect husband." Robert said or more like threatened. His deadly tone reminded me that this wasn't a fun vacation. "Get me a coke." Robert said as I sat down. I groaned internally and gave a tight-lipped smile as I stood back up. I was quick to grab a coke and turned towards Theodore. "Did you want something? "Yea, get me a water." He said. "Okay. I mumbled as I grabbed the water. I walked up to Robert and handed him his drink. "Thanks." Robert said, which was surprising. "No problem." I sa
Bella’s Pov My eyes narrowed as I looked at my doctor who had clearly lied about my sister going home. She had told him that she would stop being different for Lucas and me and now she could stay for some reason. “Did you already pick the movie?” He asked when he noticed me staring. “Lucas did.” I murmured as I looked over at Lucas and narrowed my eyes even more because he was suppose to be watching a movie with me but instead he was on his laptop doing work. “Are we not watching a movie?” I asked as my brows furrowed. “After I’m done.” He murmured as he continued to type away on his laptop. “You have been working for hours.” I stated as I glanced at the screen that had all kinds of documents spread around. He clicked on one of the screens and it switched places with another causing me to become confused. I didn’t understand anything he was doing so I could only look back at him in frustration.“Can’t you do that later?” I asked as he stared intently at the screen. “Relax.” H
Lucas’s Pov The irritation I felt as I glanced at Theodore was tangible. We had decided that we would keep it simple and make sure that Monica was pacified along with Bella but for some reason Theodore had seemed to have forgotten. “Don’t you guys have a prenup?” Robert added to the conversion. My brows furrowed as I looked at him with a questioning gaze. If not for Bella and Monica I would’ve asked both of them what they were doing because it seemed like they were trying to sabotage my marriage again. We had clearly agreed to make it seem like Monica didn’t get hardly any inheritance and that’s why she married Theodore but for some reason they were both being reckless. “No we don’t have a prenup.” Theodore stated confidently. I internally chuckled as I forced myself to look at Bella. “Didn’t I say to eat?” I asked as I grabbed one of the deviled egg with the fork and brought it up to her lips. She looked down at the egg and over at me with a meek expression on her face. I
Bella’s Pov “You can sit next to me.” My doctor said nearly instantly. The way my sisters face morphed to one of pure anger had me confused and annoyed. “But I want to sit here.” She said as she looked back at Lucas. “Why do you keep looking at my husband?” I couldn’t help but ask as I narrowed my own eyes. She clearly had her own husband but acted like she didn’t. She didn’t even treat him like he was her husband. Lucas told me it’s because she didn’t remember him but that didn’t matter because I didn’t remember Lucas and I didn’t act like her. Monica looked at me and frowned clearly not liking that I asked her that question. “I can look at him.” She retorted with an attitude that had me pursing my lips together.“I said eat.” Lucas murmured as he leaned in closer to me. I looked at him through my lashes and blushed a little as he stared at me with a stern gaze. “But she keeps looking at you.” I couldn’t help but say. “Is her looking at me hurting you?” He asked lowly. “Yes.”
Bella’s Pov I watched as Lucas put different kinds of food on my plate. “What’s that?” I asked as he grabbed what looked like a boiled age but cut in half. I had had boiled eyes with my soup yesterday and I couldn’t lie and say that it wasn’t delicious. “A deviled egg.” Lucas stated as he put it next to the cut up pieces of steak and bread. “A deviled egg.” I murmured to myself. “Yes.” He murmured as he grabbed some rice. “Is it good?” I couldn’t help but ask as I leaned closer into him. “Yes.” He stated confidently. “What are you guys doing?” A female asked from behind me before I could ask more questions. I looked over my shoulder and narrowed my eyes as Monica and my uncle walked up to us. My uncle Theodore was walking causally next to my sister which had me furrowing my brows. “Why are you here?” I asked in annoyance. My uncle gave a smile while my sister only rolled her eyes. “I decided to take your sister down for something to eat.” My uncle Theodore stated. I gave
Bella’s Pov (3 days later) I tightened my hold on Lucas’s hand and stared at all the people that were walking around in pretty dresses. Lucas had told me that there would be no more than a couple of people but from what I could see there was at least 100 people walking around. I used my free hand to tug on the black dress that Lucas had me wear. He told me that black was my favorite color dress but after looking at all of the colorful dresses that scattered the room I could almost guarantee he was lying. “Next time I want to wear a yellow and purple dress.” I stated as I realized that my two favorite colors were them. “Yellow and purple?” He asked sounding surprised. “Yes. I like them colors and nobody seems to be wearing one of them colors.” I said as I looked around one more time. “That’s because then colors don’t go well together.” He stated in a matter of fact tone. Had I had my memories I would’ve argued with him but since I wasn’t sure if he was lying I could only pur
