CHAPTER 2

LIZZY’S POV

How can someone be as rude as that, acting like he owns the world and all. His whole being was annoying and made my inside burn.

Yes, I made a mistake, why does he have to go ballistic about it.

I scoffed in annoyance as I opened the door, I heard his slamming shut right in that moment. So childish for someone like him.

I entered my home trying to get back that happy feeling I got when I first drove into the estate but instead all I could feel was anger for a certain neighbor.

I stared at the portrait in front of me, a picture of my parents standing behind me while I was seated on a leather seat with Lily in my arms. We looked so happy, the happiest I have been with my dad involved. I really did not want all these feelings today of all days.

I just want to feel happy about getting home not get into a fight and go back thinking about the past.

The scent of cookies however made all those feelings fly out the window. A grin covered my face at the thought of getting home to cookies. What else could be better than getting home to freshly baked cookies?

And before you ask if I am not on a diet, I am. But a girl needs her cookies once in a while especially the one baked by her mum.

“Liz?”

Mum called out from the kitchen. It has been so long that I have heard her call me, well we do videocalls and call almost every day for the past three months but hearing her voice so close to me felt good. I did not even realize I had missed her so much.  I literally ran to the kitchen and there she was standing in front of me.

She was in an apron and her blonde hair was packed into a bun. She looked as beautiful as always.

“hey sweetie.”

I went closer and hugged her. Her warm embrace and lovely scent were enough to calm me down. She chuckled when she wanted to pull back but I did not let her go.

“hi mum.”

I replied and pulled back from her embrace.

“I am sorry for not being there for you today.”

She apologized. I was not angry, I understood. She was sick and could not make it. I was sure if she did, it would have been more fun. We go to that sort of event together every time so it felt awkward not having her beside me.

“you were sick mum, and you did not miss much.”

“I watched the show, you looked really beautiful.”

“I guess the designer of the dress deserves the compliment.”

I said with a grin which she returned. She was the designer of my dress and most of the clothes I wear to red carpet shows and other dinner party. Seeing that I have been her model since when I was three, I guess it was not a surprise.

“thank you darling.”

“mum when did the owners of the house next door moved in?”

she stared at me for a while before asking,

“did you meet them?”

“yes, more like embarrassed myself. Why did you not tell me?”

She never told me anything about someone moving in. if she did, I would have guessed as much rather than getting into a conversation with that jerk.

“it skipped my mind. They moved in a month ago. How did you get embarrassed?”

She asked a tint of amusement in her eyes as she leaned against the counter to watch me. My mum could pass as my elder sister and a lady in her mid-twenties. She was that beautiful and let’s not forget hot. I do not know how she managed to do it and how dad does not even spare her a glance.

Her raised eyebrow pulled me out of my thoughts which took a three hundred and sixty degrees turn.

I sat down beside her on the bar stool and explained everything that happened in the last thirty minutes to her and guessed what she did. She laughed her ass out because of my supposed embarrassing moment.

“Mum it’s not that funny.”

I groaned out covering my face with my hands but could not help but chuckle myself.

“you have to admit it he is a jerk.”

I added and it just made her laugh more.

“mum.”

I groaned out. She stopped and cleaned the tears that had fallen from her eyes. Before turning to me.

“it is purely hilarious. Why would you think a Porsche is following you?”

“he could have been an obsessed fan, you never know?”

I said in my defense but only helped in making her cackle again.

“Lizzy, so you guys fought.”

“he was the jerk.”

“well he should have not been rude but he seems like a pretty nice boy.”

I scoffed, nice boy my foot.

“he is nowhere near nice.”

The bing sound of the oven cut me off as my mum stood up and wore her gloves to open it up and bring out the tray. The scent of the cookies was overwhelming and the sight alone made me salivate. And another thing my mum was specially good at was cooking and baking. Her food was the best among the best.

I stood up from the bar stool and grabbed a cookie from the tray. It was so hot that I almost dropped it back but I quickly dropped it into a plate. I heard mum chuckle at me but ignored her as I started eating.

She placed icings on some and arranged them in a little basket which looked like a bowl. Once she was done arranging them in the cute basket, she handed it over to me leaving me confused as hell. What does she want me to do with them?

“what should I do with them?”

“take them to our neighbor.”

I laughed hard expecting her to join me and say it was just a joke but instead she was just staring.

“you cannot make me do that.”

“I made lots with them in mind.”

“then why don’t you go and give them. I am not going.”

~

How could she make me do this? Making me give that rude guy her best cookies. This is so unfair and cruel. Now I have to see his ugly face again. Okay, maybe the last part was a lie, he looked too good for his personality.

I sighed as I pressed the bell, putting on one of my infamous fake smiles.

“who is there?”

I heard a voice say from the intercom.

“your neighbor.”

I replied with a smile while facing the camera, not even a second later the door opened and I was met face to face with a very beautiful woman. Probably the jerk’s mother.

“hello ma’am.”

“oh, do not call me ma’am makes me feel so old. My name is Freya and you look so beautiful and familiar.”

She said with a bright smile that made her look even more beautiful if that was possible.

“Okay Freya, I am Lizzy Greene.”

“do not tell me you mean you are the Lizzy Greene?”

She asked looking so surprised. I chuckled and nodded in affirmation.

“Becca, Becca!”

She called out before making way for me to enter. Their home had this homey feel to it. And while mine felt too big for us, theirs felt like the perfect size maybe looking at their family portrait told me that. They had a daughter and two sons, one being the annoying jerk and a cute looking boy around six or seven.

A girl around fifteen ran down the stairs. She looked so beautiful and that has proved my point that beauty does run in the blood.

“she is such a big fan and I never hear the end of her rant everyday about you.”

Freya said making me chuckle. It felt nice to know that someone keeps talking about me.

“Really? And oh, my mum said I should give this to you.”

I said and stretched the cute little basket to her. She collected it with a grin while I turned back to face the girl jumping down the stairs now with an awestruck look on her face. She looked so surprised like she has just seen a ghost.

“hey.”

I greeted her first since the moment was getting awkward.

She blinked, then suddenly her face tuned red and she faced down before slowly brushing her hair from her face.

“hey.”

“she is not always like these, I guess seeing her favorite actress just made her shy.”

Freya explained from beside me with a chuckle.

“mum! hello Liz I am Becca. I can’t believe you are here.”

I gave her one of my smiles. How was the first boy so rude when the others were so cute.

“well I guess you would be seeing a lot of me since we are neighbors.”

“wow, that is so amazing.”

I turned to where her mum was but she was gone leaving only the both of us in the room.

“I know right.”

“that is crazy.”

“how is it moving here?”

I asked, she led me to the living room and now I think their mum is into interior design because the whole house just looks so beautifully amazing.

I sat down on the soft looking leather couch and she sat beside me still staring at me like she could not believe it was real.

“do you want me to pinch you so you’ll know that I am real.”

“no, I don’t want to wake up from the dream.”

I laughed out again; she was so funny.

“it has been hectic, leaving my friends and school behind.”

She finally answered my question. I nodded understanding what she might be passing through. I remember moving here when I was twelve so as to be close to the royal academy and also to move away from the bad memories and it was not easy.

“I understand where you are coming from. Why did you move here though?”

“dad does most of his business here and he decided to change our school.”

“wow.”

“I know right, and I do not know what is so special about this so-called school.”

Who else is sensing something here? Were they the new students at our school and does that make her brother the new boy that Olivia was talking about? It better not be him because I am not ready for another set of drama and seeing what he did and said it was enough to say that he would surely cause drama.

“what is the name of the school you are moving to?”

She grinned,

“the royals’ academy.”

She announced.

Wow, no shit.

My guess was correct. Her brother is the new guy at school!

are you sensing what she is sensing?
