55: In The Dept Of His Eyes

LISA’S POV

As the horse’s hooves clattered to a halt in the stable, I felt my lips part, ready to speak. But before the words could escape, Asher’s strong hands released their hold on me. He swung off the horse with a grace that left me in awe, then turned to assist me down.

With my feet firmly planted on the ground, I tilted my head up to thank him, but the words got stuck in my throat. Asher stood there, his hair tousled by the wind, looking so handsome that it was almost painful. And when he swallowed a saliva, I can’t help but ache with needs.

I found myself having to tear my gaze away from him forcefully, choosing instead to focus on the horses that had now become my perfect distraction.

“Thank you,” I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.

He nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “It’s nothing, Lisa,” he reassured me. I turned away, my cheeks flushed with embarrassment, as he led his horse towards its stall. The animal nuzzled his palm, seeking either comfor
