Chapter 13: Ocean

Elliott opened the transparent double door in front of us. Then he goes out first and keeps the door open so that I can come next to him.

“Where are we?” I asked when I finally got myself out. The hot and cold breeze greeted me, swaying my hair, and it was fresh as if I got it directed from the healthy forest of trees.

I heard the glass door softly clicks, a sign that it’s already closed. I looked down and saw that I’m stepping in this well-cut European grass and roamed my eyes at the current place.

I was left dumbfounded when I managed to stare at the whole place. We are on this terrace full of green grass on the floor. The patio was broad and grass-covered. I can’t believe that such a thing exists.

Right now, I was facing the open space wherein the view of the ocean is widely unobstructed from my eyes. That explains the reason why the breeze earlier was a little hot.

“This is the late old master’s favorite spot of the house,” I looked back since Elliott was still behind me. He then walked forward and stopped as he reached the iron supporting our current place.

I didn’t say a word and remained silent while staring at his back. He placed his hands above the iron and kept his gaze fixed on the front. He was like mesmerizing by the beauty given by the blue ocean in front of us.

“What happened to them?” I asked as I remained standing behind him. I can see how he shrugged his head, “It’s fine. I won’t force you. I also have no right to interfere with your personal matters,” I added when I saw that he could not speak a thing about my question.

He sighed and then looked at me from the back. He then formed an idiotic smile on his lips. I don’t know, but I can see the sadness in his eyes.

Even though I don’t know what he went through and his grandparents, I felt that he was very close to them. I can obviously sense the unbreakable attachment in his eyes. Maybe, Reign feels the same too.

Wait, why did that man enter my mind? I shook my head a few times. I don’t know why he suddenly crossed my mind. Maybe, it’s because I’m at his house? Whatever.

“Come here!” Elliott hissed like an excited kid wanting to grab his ice cream from the vendor. He was back on his actual self and then keep on staring at me. I’m a little confused why he acts like this.

Honestly, he’s like Reign too. They both change their moods in a short period. Obviously, this two were really blood-related. Why am I comparing Reign and Elliott!

I let out a deep breath before starting to move my feet in his direction. When I finally reached him, I immediately put my hands on the iron and, as he did, stare in front. Trying to measure the beauty given by the blue ocean in front of us.

Both of us were doing the same thing right now. I heard Elliott chuckled, and for a reason, my gaze automatically turned to Elliott. His eyes were plastered in front, but his lips were forming a curve.

I also noticed that Elliott was a man full of happiness. I don’t know, but since I first saw him earlier, he’s always been smiling. His change of own expression was also in line with the current subject.

What I’m trying to say is, yes, he’s hard to read, but you can also easily read how he feels by studying his own facial expression.

He changed those based on the topic. For instance, he would be showing severe expression when the subject was about a meaningful discussion or sad if it was about something heartbreaking.

But most is he wears this idiotic smile that I don’t know what he’s thinking or what he truly feels at the moment.

I don’t know, but I learned so many things about him today. It’s like how fast I can get his personality, but it still remains that he’s hard to read.

I looked at him, and he was looking ahead while smiling. I’m glad to see that he’s already okay. Well, I’m not a mean person.

Even if I don’t know him and we’re not close or to say that there’s no attachment between us, I’m happy that he was okay. When I asked him earlier about this house and its late owners, it was like a deep wound to him.

I’m just glad, that’s all. I’m also a person, so I can feel his wounds without knowing the actual happenings. I just have those kinds of feelings too but in a different situation.

I sighed and suddenly looked down. My eyes widened after I saw the towering trees below us. The leaves were steady but slightly swayed by the winds.

I immediately shifted my gaze forward as I bent down and saw the shore from my direction. My lips quivered at the sight of the waves coming from the middle part of the sea to the coast that was full of white sand.

I feel that it is just so close to where we are, but I am mistaken. I just noticed that this current place is far from what I’m thinking.

I looked at Elliott, who was still looking ahead, “Are we in a very high place?” I asked, trying to make sure what’s inside my mind.

Elliott looked at me, wearing his idiotic smile, and then he nodded many times, “You are quite near to reality,” then he burst out a laugh. All of a sudden, my view of him as a weird person returned.

I would like to ask more questions to be sure, but by just his answer right now, it is enough to prove that what’s currently coming inside my mind is true.

This explains why earlier, the cloud was close to the transparent roof, and the walls were closed in the greenhouse.

I gulp before looking in front again. I tried to mesmerize the beauty of the ocean. I want to think that we are just on this beach or the house was at the high place where the sea and shore are visible from my eyes, from our current location.

But it didn’t help and was really out of reality. I keep forging my mind about the truth that I’m currently stationed in this massive place in the middle of an island.

I looked at Elliott again and was about to ask one more question, but the door behind us suddenly made an opening sound that made both of us turn.

I just stared at the person coming out from the door while Elliott walked in the door’s direction.

A man with a large stature, wearing a black t-shirt and an earpiece attached to his right ear, was greeted by Elliott.

“What happened, Den?” I heard Elliott asked the man. The man named Den was panting and catching his breath while his hands were placed on his knees. He was like done taking a marathon.

I can also see that the man’s clothes were already wet, maybe because of the sweat overflowing from his body. Honestly, the arrived man has this obesity, so I can see where those sweat coming from.

That Den took a peek from my direction. He then composed his stance before answering Elliott’s question, “Isaac has escaped the cage sir,” he bowed his head after answering.

“No need to bow. Raise your head. When did it happen?” I can clearly hear Elliott’s worried voice. His back was facing me, so I can’t take a look at his expression.

Isaac? Escaped? Cage? Is there anyone else imprisoned here beside me? Well, I’m lucky enough because I wasn’t confined on that cage thing. Maybe, I can also escape from here just like Isaac did.

Elliott nodded, and then he turned his head in my direction. He then smiled, “I’ll be back. I’ll have Thraia pick you here. I just gotta do something important,” I just nodded, and then he turned his back and walk in first.

Followed by a man in black named Den. I silently gasp when seeing the tattoo on his nape. It was like the pattern of those two men at the bar who supported my way out. A sword with a serpent hugging on it.

What the heck is happening?
