DARANA

“This is bullshit”. Gemma cursed as she kicked the side of the couch. I laid back in my seat and massaged my temples.

“You shouldn't have gone out,” Gemma screeched as she glared at me. “That's why we came up with that rule in the first place”.

“He would have gotten her eventually,” Adrika said dryly. “Judging from what Rana has just explained, he was going to find her sooner or later. It was inevitable”.

Gemma groaned and slumped onto the couch next to me. “What if we give the diamond back?. That's what caused all the ruckus in the first place. Let's give the damn jewel back and we can go steal elsewhere”.

“He doesn't want the jewel,” I said with a shake of my head. “He wants me”. I whispered as I clamped my hands tightly together as the memory of the video of my sister played in my head. That asshole.

“Rana sweetheart, you can't marry him!”Gemma cried out and Adrika nodded along with her. “She's right, you can't just marry some psychotic dude just because he wants you to”.

“He has my sister” I yelled and they flinched back in shock.

“Who has who's sister?”Reggie asked as he plopped down onto the couch next to me, oblivious to the rising tension in the room.

His eyes darted between us ladies and he sat up straight. “What's going on?”

“He has someone watching my sister. I can't play any funny tricks or he could harm her,” I muttered in a resigned tone.

“Damn, this is fucked up”. Adrika groaned. “I knew this heist was going to go down a black hole right from the start. Who in their right senses with a house like that wouldn't have CCTV cameras?. It was fishy from the start but we were too fixated on the damn jewel to notice”.

Gemma bolted from the couch as if struck by lightning —startling us as she paced the living room in thought.

“If there were no CCTV cameras in the house, how was Niklaus able to trace the theft back to us?" she asked and my eyes widened.

“Adrika was one thing, but how did he see through Rana who just innocently attended the party?”

“ Maybe there were invisible cameras we weren't aware of?" Adrika said with a shrug and Gemma shook her head.

“No, I did a thorough sweep of the house. There were no cameras, Adrika”.

“Unless, he knew about us before we came to the party”. I said after a minute of silence.

“ That's absurd,” Adrika said. “No, it's not,” Gemma said, tapping her chin in thought.

“Think of it. There was no way anyone would have connected Adrika to Rana if they hadn't already had prior knowledge about our gang”.

“Also, why did Niklaus come to a party that he wasn't supposed to attend?. He was supposed to be on an important business trip. I checked his schedule!”

“But still,” Adrika argued. “Nobody has ever put a face to our gang”.

“But there have been rumors. People are aware there's a certain seductress among us that deceives men. Niklaus must have put two and two together”. Gemma said with finality.

“So, you're saying our cover is blown?" Reggie asked, putting the pieces together.

Gemma stared at me and shook her head. “Not yet. But if Rana doesn't do what Niklaus wants then we're all in some deep shit”.

“So, are you suggesting she marries him?” Adrika asked in disbelief. “She has no choice," Gemma yelled in agitation. “Think of Juniper. She's innocent in all this”.

“But what will he gain from marrying her?" Reggie asked all of a sudden. “No offense Rana, but it's only when you're in action you look classy and elegant but on a normal day, you're pretty ….plain” he observed as his eyes rested on my outfit.

“He's right, something doesn't add up. This is all so fucked up”. Adrika said.

“Either way, it doesn't matter,” I said, finally coming to terms with the situation.

“What are you trying to say?” Adrika asked as she slowly crept closer.

“It means I'll marry him. I have no choice”.

“Glad you were able to come to a decision. The right decision I might add” Niklaus said, without any trace of emotion or smile on his face.

He looked so much different now in a black suit. More formidable, more distant, his gray, piercing eyes studying me with unhidden interest.

“Just take me to the church or wherever we'll sign the marriage papers" I spat harshly and he chuckled, revealing the man I was used to before masking it up again.

“Did you really think the wedding would happen just like that? Have you forgotten I belong to the Titterington roots?” He asked with a smile and it was this up close that I was able to notice he had dimples not that it made me hate him any less. Or so I thought.

His fingers found their way to my chin and traced the soft line of my jaw. I pushed his hand angrily as my eyes flared with hatred. My contempt for this man was more than whatever sort of attraction I held for him.

He shook his head and let his hand drop. “So feisty” he muttered and headed for the vehicle.

“Where are we going?” I yelled and he stopped in his tracks for a minute before continuing. “To the Titterington house”.

“Why?” I asked in confusion. “Because we are going to meet Caliste, now stop talking and get in," he ordered but I stood, rooted in shock.

“Caliste? I can't meet her,” I said as guilt of my actions gnawed my insides.

“Why?” he asked with a smirk. “Because you stole from her?” His smile widened as he took in my silence.

“Well, news flash Cinderella, no wedding happens under the Titterington household without Caliste’s approval and consent now stop being a chicken and get in”.

My legs moved at his command.

DARANA“What's wrong?” Gemma asked immediately, noticing my shaky tone.“Nothing.” I replied, still dabbing at my eye lids.“Are you sure it's nothing?” She asked. “You don't sound like it's nothing though.”“Just get to the fucking point.” I rasped.“Oh, someone is standing at the wrong edge today,” she muttered.“Anyways, I called you regarding the heist.” She said and I sighed.“What about the heist? We all know it ended in a disaster that almost got us caught, so what about it?”“Yeah, I'm aware.” she chuckled. “I was there too, you know.”“You know if you're feeling bad, another heist might just be what you need to feel better.”“Coming from someone who was telling me to keep my head down.” I mocked.“Oh come on!” She groaned. “You and I both know that things are obviously not going your way over there so instead of sulking about it. Why don't you join us tonight?”I was silent for a while as I pondered over her words. She was right. I couldn't let my career go down the drain. An

DARANAHis lips curled up slowly before he burst into full-throated laughter. He spared me one last glance before he walked away in the opposite direction.“Where are you going?” I screamed as I pointed my clenched fists in his direction. “So, you’re admitting that you’re a thief, aren’t you?”He ignored me and his laughter boomed across the hallway as he disappeared. I let out a heavy breath of relief when he was gone and dropped my hands. That was close. Who knew Niklaus would be keeping close tabs on my movements? I had to be more careful.I glared in the direction and muttered under my breath. “Asshole.”To see him back in the room after the failed heist had been so scary. If not that I had been trained over the years, he would have seen through my lie.I rubbed my stinging buttocks as the memory of him spanking my ass flooded my mind. I was going to get revenge for him assaulting me.But I couldn’t deny the tension that had been in the air after when I straddled him. The way he r

NIKLAUSHer eyes darted around quickly before turning back to face me. “Where have you been?” she retorted as she crossed her arms on her chest.“What is that supposed to mean?” I asked slowly, unsure of the game she was playing at.“I went out to look for you when you didn’t return. You haven’t been around all day.” she questioned.“Darana,” I spoke. “I’ve been back two hours ago. I have work that demands my attention and when did you of all people start giving a fuck about me? I growled. She smirked and sauntered close. She rested her arms on the edges of my chair and winked at me. “Maybe the whole marriage thing is beginning to rub off on me, making me do wifely duties.”“That’s bullshit.” I sneered and she smiled as she traced a line to my neck seductively. “Is it?” she murmured close to my ear. Fuck, she was so good at what she does. Thankfully, I was better.Suddenly, I pulled her against me that she was straddling me with my arms around her waist. “I don’t know, you tell me.”

DARANA“What happened?” I asked quickly, pulse quickening.Gemma sighed. “It's the black app.”My stomach soured at the mention of that app and I winced mentally. The black app was an association of high class thieves and for Gemma to bring that up it meant something had definitely gone wrong.“What about them?” I asked slowly, eyes darting around quickly to make sure I was alone.“They released the ranking last night and fuck Rana, we've dropped.”‘Damn’ I thought. ‘That wasn't good.’“What position are we at?” I asked and she sighed. “30th.”Fuck, fuck fuck. That was awful. Over the last few years we had never gone below 3rd place.“They're mocking us, Rana. The members are saying we've gone soft.”“How did this happen?” I asked. “Rana, we haven't gone on a heist for over a month and that was enough time for other low ranking thieves to catch up to us.”I groaned as I rubbed my temples, thinking fast.“Who's topping the charts?" I asked, wanting to know who had the guts to beat us

DARANAI looked at Niklaus sleeping peacefully beside me and I resisted the urge to poke him the eyes.He was so vulnerable beside me and I was almost tempted to kill him to put an end to my problems once and for all.He had my weakness within his grasp and that made him my biggest enemy. I studied the steady beat of his pulse as the urge to hurt grew. But I knew it wasn't going to be easy like that. Instead, I pulled the covers away and stepped out of bed.I glanced at the bedside clock telling me it was 6 a.m. in the morning and I groaned. I was usually never up so early but I guess my body couldn't stand sleeping next to my enemy. We needed to do something about the sleeping arrangements, fast.I creeped to the bathroom and pulled out my phone. I took a deep breath and dialled the number.“Rana” a voice belonging to no one other than Juniper screeched loudly in my ear.“I can't believe you'd do this to me? How could you get married and not inform me?”“Worse still, you never even

NIKLAUS“Finally, I get to meet other members of the Titterington family.” Darana said with a smile as she stood beside me while the maids carried the rest of her luggage in. “Don’t get your hopes up,” I warned. “They might not be what you expect.”“And who told you I was expecting anything?” she retorted as she rolled her eyes and walked into the house, leaving me behind.I sighed, reeling my frustration in while I went after her. I led her to the main room where Caliste and the rest of the family were waiting.Caliste as usual was seated on her throne but this time, she had a serious expression on her face which was what she always had when all the members of the family were gathered together. She acknowledged us with a slight nod of her head before she started speaking. “As you all know that for the past one month, we had been making preparations for Niklaus’s wedding and now that it’s over. It’s time to meet the bride formally.”“You may have all seen her at the wedding but now y
