Chapter 9 Are you a human or a ghost?

The door to the reception room is pushed open.

A woman wearing a pink and white suit walks in slowly.

She has long, jet black hair tied up behind her head, light makeup on her face, and elegant features with crimson lips.

"The Martínez Group is really becoming more and more extravagant, leaving the partners waiting for almost half an hour..."

Emily turns her head and sarcastically says, her voice suddenly stopping.

She looks at the woman who entered, her gaze firmly fixed on that face.

The woman's eyebrows, eyes, and facial contours are exactly the same as Haley's.

But!

Didn't Haley die four years ago?

Didn't she die in the fire, or commit suicide by jumping into the river?

Why... why would she suddenly appear before her eyes?

"Are you, are you a human or a ghost?"

Emily's voice trembles, her face turning pale.

Although she didn't kill Haley with her own hands, Haley died because of her, and four years ago she often had nightmares.

She always dreamed that Haley turned into a vengeful ghost coming to claim her life!

"Do you want me to be a human or a ghost?"

Haley confidently walks in, and leisurely sits on the sofa.

She smiles coldly, her eyes filled with chilling intent.

Her eyes are sharp, ruthlessly piercing into Emily.

"You, you're not dead!" Emily shivers suddenly, "You're still alive! Haley, you're actually alive!"

She didn't die from severe bleeding after giving birth!

She didn't die in the fire either!

And she didn't die from jumping into the river!

How can this little bitch be so lucky!

"What, disappointed?" Haley softly speaks, "We are sisters, and shouldn’t you be happy to see me alive?"

She lifts her chin, her narrow eyes full of sharpness.

Somehow, Owen's face suddenly flashes in Emily's mind.

Owen can make the same expression as Haley!

If Owen were to come across Haley...

The consequences would be unimaginable!

Emily's heart beats rapidly, she tightly clenches her palms to suppress the sense of panic.

She blinked her eyes and tears fell down: "Sister, it's great, you're not dead... Do you know how much regret I've had in these four years? That night, I shouldn't have left you alone in the warehouse. Haley, Dad has always been talking about you and misses you a lot. Come back with me to see Dad... If Dad knew you were still alive, he would be so happy..."

Haley sneered.

Before she turned eighteen, she also believed that her father truly loved her.

But on the day after her eighteenth birthday, after someone took indecent photos of her, she received a slap from her father.

Would a father who genuinely loved his daughter lock her up in a warehouse and not visit her for eight months after she suffered such a blow?

It seemed that the eighteen years of love and spoiling was all for the shares in her hands.

"Emily, your four years of comfort are coming to an end," Haley's voice was filled with endless hatred. "I will take back everything that belongs to me, one by one."

Emily was frightened by her gaze and instinctively took a step back.

At this moment, the first thing that came to her mind was the two young boys of the Winston family!

Did this vile woman, Haley, want to take the two children away from her...?

"And my two sons died because of you. You... wait for karma!" Haley enunciated each word, each one cutting into Emily's flesh like a blade.

Emily suddenly froze.

Yes!

In Haley's mind, those two children were already dead, they died minutes after being born!

So, Haley didn't come back to claim the two children!

Emily had never felt so relieved before.

Luckily, Ivan had not announced the news of the two children publicly. Otherwise, Haley would definitely be able to follow the trail and uncover the truth.

Then, everything would be exposed.

But even so, this vile woman, Haley, couldn't stay!

Emily suppressed the maliciousness in her eyes and said slowly, "Sister, the children died right after they were born... I am their biological aunt, how could I possibly kill them... Four years ago, I properly buried the children and erected gravestones for them. Every year on their memorial days, I go to pay my respects. Haley, how can you say that I killed the children?"

Haley suddenly stood up, grabbed Emily by the collar and demanded, "Where did you bury my children?"

"They... they were buried in the Eastern Cemetery on the outskirts of the city... I can't pinpoint the exact location, but how about this, I'll take you there tomorrow."

Emily cautiously spoke, hiding her calculative thoughts in her eyes.

For the past four years, Haley had been dreaming of the two children covered in bruises. She dreamed of going to see them.

Even if it was just sitting in front of their gravestones, it would slightly alleviate the pain in her heart.

Her children, she would never let them die in vain...

Seeing Haley alive and well at the Martínez Group, Emily had completely forgotten her purpose of coming to the Martínez Group. She left feeling completely at a loss.

In the lounge on the first floor, Todd's gaze fell on Emily's figure.

This woman was Mommy’s half-sister from a different mother, the one who had forced mommy to flee the country four years ago.

Emily, the heir of the DeRoss family? Ha! Todd sneered.

He turned his gaze to the computer that was placed in the lounge and walked towards it. Angela sat on the carpet, engrossed in her picture book, completely unaware of her brother's whereabouts as she immersed herself in her own world.

Todd turned on the computer, although its specifications were a bit low, it had no problem with a little manipulation. His slender fingers tapped away on the keyboard, and the computer screen turned blue, displaying lines of code.

Mommy was a coding genius. And he, he was a master at cracking codes, commonly known as a hacker. He effortlessly hacked into the DeRoss Group's website. He made a copy of all the client information on the website and publicly posted it on a foreign domain address on a certain website.

Then, he made a slight modification, and the DeRoss Group's official website crashed!

In the age of the internet, the impact of a large corporation's official website crashing was immense on its reputation. Before the DeRoss Group could even attempt to fix their website, news of the disaster spread overseas - the entire client list had been leaked!

The DeRoss Group's stock price plummeted by ten points in half an hour.

Todd leisurely looked at the news online, a cold smile gradually appearing on his lips.

This was just a small lesson.

If anyone dared to provoke his mommy again, he would make the DeRoss family pay an even greater price.

Suddenly, a furry head came closer. Todd turned his head and saw that Angela had somehow gotten close to his side.

His little sister had big, watery eyes that resembled a clear spring.

At the moment, those eyes were fixed tightly on the computer screen. Todd didn't understand what was so interesting about financial news, so he was about to close the computer screen.

However, his hand was stopped by a soft little paw. Angela pushed away his hand and moved her head closer to the computer screen.

It was then that Todd noticed that the news was playing automatically, and the face that appeared on the screen was stern.

This man... it seemed like the same person he had encountered on the street just now... His little sister seemed particularly interested in this man...
