Hunter’s POV

Instinctively I stepped protectively in front of Ella as a wolf emerged from the tree line. The wolf was large and dark brown with golden brown eyes. I could clearly tell he was of beta blood because of his size. The wolf shifted back to his human form as he peered around me at my mate.

“Remember me, she wolf?” The man asked Ella and I became confused how Ella would know him.

“Derrick.” Ella said with animosity in her voice as she tried to push her way passed me and continued with, “Why are you here?”

“Did you think your little stunt was going to go unpunished?” He asked her and a low growl rumbled in my throat at the threat he just made towards my mate.

Derrick turned his gaze towards me taking in my protectiveness of my mate and asked, “Who are you?”

I’ll give it to this guy he had balls addressing me like he just did and I was ready to put him in his place. “I’m her mate.” I said grinding my teeth.
