“Did you want to talk to me about something Child?” My mother asked as soon as I closed the door to my art studio.

“Dad wasn’t your first mate, was he?” I asked, not entirely sure how to proceed with my question.

“No, he wasn’t. I have had many in the years prior to him.” She answered as she walked around the room.

“What happened after you lost your first mate?” I asked, sitting down on my office chair.

“I was devastated. It took me years to overcome my grief from losing my first mate. But you see, I am not like you when it comes to mates if this is where this is going.” My mother started running her finger along the shelving of where I kept some paintings, as she spoke.

“These are wonderful you know. I don’t know if I tell you enough, how proud I am of you. You have a beautiful gift, and I am glad you are able to share it with others.” My mother
