Moonlight pack.....

The house was quiet.

Benji lay curled on the couch in the guest room, a blanket around his legs.

His face was damp with sweat, and his breath was coming in short gasps.

The dream had come again.

The same one.

He was six again, tiny, trembling, crouched behind his mother’s legs as she faced the cloaked strangers. Her hands were shaking, but her voice never wavered.

“Leave him alone. You’ll have to kill me first.”

And they had.

He remembered the way she fell. The sound of her body hitting the ground. The warmth of her blood, hot and thick, splattered across his face.

He remembered screaming so hard his throat went raw. He remembered the way they grabbed him, how he kicked and bit, how it didn’t matter.

The iron chains. The dark cellar. The vampires who smelled like death and smiled like they were doing him a favor.

Rita stood near the fireplace, clutching a small glass vial in her hand, she rushed to him when she saw him.“You’re back,” she said softly, her voice unsure.He nodded stiffly, his expression was unreadable. She couldn't tell what he was thinking. She placed the potion in his hand carefully, avoiding direct eye contact.“This will make her appear dead,” she said quietly. “Meridia gave it to me herself. It carries her magic, Kaia will look lifeless, there will be no heartbeat or pulse. But she’ll be fine, after a few hours.”Stefan turned the vial slowly between his fingers, the contents within glowed with a soft green shimmer.
