Eve’s POV

The sun had barely begun to rise when I stepped out of the infirmary. Since the last breakout of the evening, I had almost forgotten what it looked like to be outside as I had immersed myself with helping the sick wolves the air outside was soft snd calm masking the chaos we were now living in. It was safe to see since the last breakout. The tension in Blackthorn had dulled a little, and of course, the wolves no longer heard the whispers from the forest.

But, even with the little peace we were now experiencing it still felt borrowed, like we had a short time left to enjoy it.

As I walked further, I found Malik near the training ground, leaning against one of the stones, his eyes fixed on nothing particular. I felt like there was something different about him, like he was being haunted by something I didn’t understand, but he was usually like this only that this time it looked worse.
