Serena stormed into the consort hall without hesitation. Her eyes locked on Janina, who sat smugly in the seat that once belonged to Lirvana. Fury burned through her veins as she strode up, seized the Beta by her arm, and yanked her out of the chair and landed a stinging slap across her face.

Gasps followed, every consort frozen in disbelief at what had just happened.

Lirvana, arriving just in time to witness it, felt her lips curl into a satisfied smile. Perfect. If this escalated, the king would see that only she had the strength and composure to truly rule as head consort. This chaos suited her just fine.

Janina’s hand flew to her cheek, fury sparking behind her eyes. This human had dared to strike her, and in front of everyone. She wanted to retaliate, to rip Serena apart with words or claws, but she forced a composed smile instead. She couldn’t let the king see her falter, she would not stoop to Serena’s level.

“Consort Serena,” she said sweetly, her voice dripping with venomous

Janina’s grip tightened on the dagger, her eyes darting around the chamber until she finally saw the one who had spoken.“The Saraph…” she breathed.Relief spread across her face. “It’s only you. Why appear in the castle like this? Whatever I heard you say, take it back. Our plan was clear from the beginning, to kill the king. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.”The winged creature’s eyes glowed faintly. “Undo it. Those dark spells in the forbidden forest are far more dangerous than you realize. Even my people could be wiped out. I won’t risk it. I regret helping you.”Janina’s lips curled into a cold smile. “It’s too late now for regrets, Saraph. Leave this place, or you won’t like what I do next.”The creature glared at her, wings trembling with anger.Janina’s patience snapped. With a sharp motion, she flung the dagger. It pierced the Saraph’s chest clean through. It fell to the ground, blood spilling, its faint voice rasping, “You will pay for this….”In seconds, its body shimmere

The creature roared, shaking the cave to its core. Its head was twisted and ugly, its body like a giant frog with long, writhing tentacles. The rotting ground beneath it was its lair Thayne drew his sword, bracing for the attack. The creature lunged at them. They all dodged, but Serena slipped and crashed to the ground. The sticky floor clung to her skin, making her itch. Disgust twisted her face, and for a moment she felt like crying, but this wasn’t the time. Naya drew her sword and rushed to Thayne’s side. The creature was strong, and the way it thrashed made the whole cave tremble, it could bring the place down at any moment. “‘The cave will collapse if we don’t kill it!” Lirvana shouted. But the monster didn’t relent. A strike sent Naya and Thayne crashing to the ground, the air ripped from their lungs. Pain tore through them, and within moments, both lay unconscious. Lirvana tried to retreat, but a long tentacle whipped out and slammed her down. Her breath left her in a

Night had already fallen. All four stood clad in battle gear, swords strapped at their sides, extra weapons carefully chosen for the dangers ahead.Naya carried a bow with a quiver full of arrows.Lirvana had her heavy axe strapped across her back.Serena, though trembling, had daggers fastened against her thighs. The Forbidden Forest loomed before them, a wall of dark mist curling and shifting ,moving slowly just against the entrance but it seemed a shield stopped it from breaking free and pouring into the kingdom.Serena’s stomach twisted. She stepped back instinctively, her eyes darting to the shadows inside. They paused.Lirvana’s blue eyes burned with determination.Naya, noticing Serena’s fear, reached for her hand and squeezed gently.“Please… can’t I just stay out here and wait?” Serena whispered, her voice small.“No,” Thayne answered sharply, not sparing her a glance. “We go in together.”With that, he moved forward. One by one, they crossed the threshold. Naya tugged Serena

“Don’t play coil with us,” one of the councilmen barked, his voice loud and fierce. “How is it possible you are not in the same condition as the King? If you are not the cause of it, then tell us, why are you untouched? You did this so you could find your way out.”“I wish it were that simple,” Serena spat back, eyes blazing. “But I did nothing. Nothing! And what condition are you even talking about?”“Drag her out here!” another councilman roared, his fury spilling over. Two guards lunged forward, seizing her arms.“Leave me alone! What is this madness?” Serena cried, thrashing in their grip. Her voice cracked as fear clawed its way up her throat. “What happened to him? Tell me what happened to the King!”The castle filled with murmurs, suspicion dripping from every pair of eyes fixed on her.Janina stood to the side with a smirk tugging at her lips.“I didn’t think they’d accuse her, but this works perfectly for me.”Then, just as quickly, she let her expression crumble and forced

Serena pressed the blade harder against her skin, and a thin streak of blood slid down her throat.Kaelen’s silver eyes flared, because in that instant, he felt it too. A sting that wasn’t his, yet he felt it deep in his veins.“Stop this,” he growled, voice rough, command shaking the walls. But Serena didn’t flinch. She pressed harder, her jaw set in reckless defiance.Kaelen surged forward, ripping the knife from her hands and pinning her against the wall. His gaze darkened at the sight of the crimson staining her throat. Before he could stop himself, he leaned in and traced the trail of blood with his tongue.Serena’s eyes flew wide, her heart slamming against her chest.>He… he licked my blood. The thought burned through her mind.In the next instant, heat surged across her body, wild and uncontrollable. Kaelen sat upon his throne, his silver gaze fixed on the council below as they argued over the fate of the human. One of the elder councilmen bowed deeply before speaking. Your Highness, your decree to make the girl a maid is wise. She serves no purpose, your duty is to protect her and keep her alive. She is a human and that alone is the root of our troubles. But now, you have an heir. From our own kind. Blessed by the goddess herself. Keeping the human as a maid is enough mercy and she is safer.” A female councilor rose sharply. Her voice rang across the hall. “No. She is fragile, Your Highness. Our females are born with strength and jealousy in equal measure. Among them, the human will be broken. She will be working until her body fails. That is not mercy, it is torment. She will die from exhaustion.” She shot a sharp look at the men. “And you call that safety?Remember our king is bound to her.” Another councilman slammed his hand on the table. “Keep quiet!.
