LOGINMeghan POV
It was two weeks now since I'd left Alec, and it's been too hard! I knew I would be fine at last. Still...it was hard. "On the plus side," Jade said, "you've not seen the hideous faces of those evil witches in a while now." Jade Fernandez was my best friend in the whole world, a sweet handsome Italian business man became my friend over four years now, just after I graduated from college. He was such a darling, protecting me and caring for me. Everyone always thought we would end up together. But we were just friends. He never showed why signs he might like me in that manner at all. A slight smile formed on my face. "You're right." We sat for hours, just ranting about life in general. My grandpa walked in, that old man never knocked on my door! "There's someone I'd love you to meet, my dear." He announced. Jade jumped up. "Grandpa. I asked about you but you weren't around earlier and--" "--that's enough. I don't want to hear." He replied dryly. Jade was only smiling by now. "Grandpa, you're not still mad at Jade for not ordering for two soup bowls the other night, are you?" I said, and the expression on his face was funny to make me laugh. "He knows how much I loved the soups from that restaurant!" Grandpa cried out. "I won't ever make that mistake again!. I'm sorry grandpa." Jade said, apologizing. I just smiled and watched the two of them act like kids.. "Come on out, he's here now." Grandpa said again and I was just forced to head downstairs with him. I had my long brown hair tied up in a bun, and since I was home that day, my face was free of makeup other than my cherry lipgloss. "Who's he asking you to meet?" Jade whispered to me on our way downstairs. I shrugged. "I'm not so sure. He just said someone important to him," I confessed. Once downstairs, there as a tall man with his back facing us. He wore a cooperate outfit, and just from his back posture, I was surprise how much he appeared so handsome. Jade was handsome too, with his pale brown eyes and curly hairstyle seemed to look so amazing on him, but this man looked like he'd been sculpted. When he turned his face towards us, my lips parted softly at how much he looked...sexy! His eyes lingered on me for a while, a soft smile appearing on his face. I was melting on the inside. My grandpa took the lead, "my dear, this is Adrian Smith, my godson. And a big investor in our firm." He said. "Ohh he's the one you're always talking about so dearly?" I was forced to say. Grandpa always talked about a mysterious investor, just around the second year I got married to Alec. This man invested a lot in our company and started to win my grandpa's heart. "Hello," he said, his voice deep and charming. "It's nice to finally meet you." He said, a sweet smile resting in his eyes as he advanced forward to stretch a hand to me. I shook his hand, that huge palm covering my tiny delicate hand. It was brief, but I loved the warmth that came with it..I was grinning like a fool now. "Um...hi. It's an honor to meet you as well." I managed to say, hoping the excitement in my eyes wasn't too obvious. Grandpa was smiling now at the connection we exchanged. "Guess what? He's here to invite us to his birthday party this Saturday. Isn't that right, Adrian?" Grandpa threw the question to him. And he took so much pleasure in responding to it. "Yes. It's a little celebration at the Greenhouse hotel, just to glorify the bond that have been shared between Mr. Price. As well as our new partnership." He said proudly. Our companies were going for a partnership program that would last three months. We both owned retail companies that sell groceries at cheaper rate to consumers, but Adrian's business was three times bigger and popular than ours, so this partnership program was a huge source of promotion for us. "That's so sweet." I said. It still surprised me I had never seen this man before, but I was clearly getting interested in him. "Hello, Jade here too." Jade said and we all laughed. "Of course, good afternoon Mr Jade." Adrian said."You're very much invited as well!" "Oh that's awesome." Jade said with a smile. "Will you be staying with us for dinner?" Grandpa asked him. "Actually, I was in a bit of a hurry earlier..." "Aww so you won't join us for dinner? I'll cook!" I chirped in. My grandpa looked at me and an impressive smile appeared on his face. We had been inseparable since forever. And I knew him persuading Adrian for dinner was to strengthen our bond. He chuckled, "Wow. Okay then..but I can't stay for too long." Finally, he said. Instantly, we began to make preparation plans. Well, mostly me. Jade would boil water for tea, and it would still taste bad. I gathered some of the assistant we had at home and we all made meal preparation for that evening. Soon, we were gathered on the dining table. "Wow. This is really delicious!" Adrian complimented. Jade's nose flared, "This? I think it's a bit salty." "Ignore him." I said, brushing it off. "Did I mention that jade is my friend but also a big bully?" He acted cool, shrugging as he stuffed his mouth again. "I'm just really great at telling the truth. That's all." "Yes. He's a big bully!" Grandpa instantly agreed. Jade groaned. "I said I'm sorry, grandpa. I ordered two bowls of soup afterwards but you didn't eat it!" "Plit twist, he did. He's just too stubborn to admit it." I said, giggling as grandpa's eyes widened when he stared at me in shock for exposing him. Amidst the laughter and all, Adrian wanted to feel along too. "This is such a good way to relax. It's always just boring being the only one at home with no one to party with like this." His comment quickly dimmed the jovial mood in the air. It was known to me that Adrian was an orphan just like me...but at least, I had grandpa. Then, grandpa decided to ruin things...! "You're the one who's still insisting on being single. My daughter is single now, so why don't you two hit up?" Hit up? "Grandpa?!" I scolded. Even Adrian looked shocked. "Oh, I'm so embarrassed right now. Just ignore him. Really!" I said, trying to defend myself. To my surprise, Adrian's response caught me off guard.."That's not such a bad idea. I'd love to take you out sometime. That is...if you'd allow that too?"Third POV Bella did not realize this was what she was walking into. It was like a demon walking into heaven with all the bright light and peaceful harmony. Her brother's company was decent enough, her family was rich! But in this Fernandez building, everything was just too big to her. "Maybe I'm a little under dressed?" She looked down to herself and felt she could have worn her most expensive outfit instead of this long sexy dinner gown. Her hair was purple now, and she was thinking of letting it stay like that. She dialed her brother's number again, "why won't you just pick up, my sweet and darling brother!"He could be annoying like that sometimes. "No wonder Meghan divorced your ass."She bumped into a figure just as she was advancing towards the receptionists' big desk. "Hey watch where you're going!" She screeched. The man stopped. He was tall, all dressed like a gentleman in his brown suit that fit his body well. His eyes relaxed, he didn't smile but it looked like he felt s
Alec's POVI pulled Meghan over after this whole dramatic scene with Paulina. "So tell me, are you proud of yourself now for creating an enemy for yourself like this!"She did not even overeact. I hated how confident she was. "Hey, what do you even want from me, Alec?""Let's just go back to being partners again. Why is that so hard for you to imagine.""You know, maybe I don't even want a partner anymore. I mean, I'm all better, why should I want a partner?""So this is how you're going to be? Proud and arrogant like this?" She laughed out, "Alec, remember what you said to me. You said I was weak and I let everyone walk down on me. But now I'm proud and arrogant?""Meghan, look. Whatever happen all those months ago, they're in the past now. You're going to have my child so why act like this anyway! Do you want me to announce this to the whole world?"She eyed me up and down and shook her head. "You keep saying this child is yours. How are you even sure about it, huh? For all I care,
Meghan's POV "Miss Meghan Price is the new director."I thought I was dreaming as he pronounced carefully. There was like a strong silence filling the room as he spoke. Then Paulina's voice thundered. "What!??""I don't think you all should be too surprised about this. Miss Meghan is one of the company's finest business owners around here."This produced a scoff from Paulina. "Yea? Is that why she's in huge debts right now? We know of her cheap attempts begging money from banks and all!""See that's where you're wrong." The instructor said and even I blinked in shock. "There's someone here to convince you strongly why Meghan deserves to be the director. Please let's welcome madam Chloe from Westham bank."Murmurs filled the air as everyone repeatedly called out the bank. The thing was, Westham bank was one of the famous banks in the country! And there was someone from the bank to speak on my behalf?A slender talk woman walked in. She carried an aura of strong confidence so you can
Meghan's POV"Getting married? What...how...wh--" before I could say anymore thing, she brushed past me and stepped out. I followed behind just in time before the elevator closed again."If you and Alec were getting married, he would have told me." I said. I didn't know why I felt the need to crush her, "I would know because we were together all through yesterday evening."That got her attention at least. "That's a lie. I don't believe you.""Then ask him yourself." No. The realization hit me before I could even blink. "On second thought, that's none of your business. Happy married life in advance." I hurried inside. "Just on time, we want to make a vote now." Said Warren, one of our colleague in the training and Paulina's partner.Alec was not sitting, he leaned back against the wall in a corner, his eyes gazing on the whole classroom, but clearly he was just lost in thought. He sighted me and jumped up in shock. Then he rushed over to my side, "hey Meg, are you alright? Did you sle
Meghan's POV I slept fine that night, which was funny because I couldn't help but understand why. My life was a huge mess, and Paulina called me but I didn't go? I would be facing hell the next day at work. And...worse...Alec hasn't called me not even for once! That only meant worse. How could I be pregnant?? I woke up even feeling more better than ever. "Stupid brain, don't you understand what depression means??" Everything had been going fine in fact. I had on my dark purple power move jumpsuit and my nude heels, my bath was amazing with the water hitting the right nerves. My fried egg came out perfectly too! And I made my coffee just right. Heaving in a deep sigh as I stepped into the building that morning, I knew it was only just a matter of time before someone found me and spiked my anxiety levels. I was pregnant. How was I being so cool about it? Well, maybe because I've still got another problem and this can wait. I've still got a couple of months, I can still
Jade's POVWatching her leave was so hard for me to do, but I hated that there was nothing more I could do about it."If only you can see how much I want to help, Meghan." It hurt but...I heaved in a deep sigh. "I need a drink."Pouring a shot of whiskey in the glass, the strong scent filled my nostrils, I gobbled it all down at once and gasped out."There must be something I can do..."I thought for a while, then decided to clear my head out. I called Martins and we headed to a local bar just close to my place. "I just want to help." I said to him when we were all settled down. I'd been talking all through the ride. "Sir, I understand you. But maybe she just doesn't want to feel like a burden to you, have you thought about that?"I shook my head. "A burden? She's my best friend. I'm supposed to help, if I don't, then that's a shame."Martins only shrugged. "Okay, what is it?" I was forced to ask. I didn't like that look on his face, like he was tired of having this conversation wi
