"How can you miss a spot? Oh you are such a dummy. I can't believe my brother is married to you." Bella rolled her eyes and looked at me like I was trash. "Yea, even I'm surprised you're my wife." Alec stepped in, tall And handsome he was. If only he wasn't always so cold like this. "You're too dumb, all the time letting my mother and sister speak to you like that. I wonder when you'll ever stand up for yourself." "Can we talk, in private?" I said as polite as I could. Alec just looked me with disgust and shrugged. "Well, good night everyone. I'm off to this fancy hotel to have a gooood night!" He said, ignoring me. I hated that he did that, but I just wished I had the boldness to correct him and teach him to treat me right. "I hope you bring home a new girl. This one expired 3 years ago." Lolita said. "Mom, I married her three years ago." Alec said and they all bursted out in laughter.

"This is why you'll never be loved by my son," this wasn't Lolita's first time saying this. And every time it hurt me to my chest when I hear her, well because it's mostly true. There is nothing I wouldn't do for Alec, my husband I've been married to for over three years now. "What did she do now, mom?" Red hair girl, Bella, advanced forward. Bella was the annoying little sister of Alec who hated and despised me, just like everyone else in the family too. "She missed a spot here. Can you imagine? I told her to clean here but she skipped right over there." Lolita said, patting herself on the shoulders. Lolita was slender and beautiful like her daughter, but her black hair was real, compared to her daughter's artificial. I wonder when you'll ever stand up for yourself." "I'm confused, are you on our side or hers?" Bella frowned. "Can we talk, in private?" I said as polite as I could. "Alec, I need to talk to you." I insisted, standing behind him. He walked past me, nearly pushing me away from my spot. "But Alec--" "--what what! Damn it, whatever just talk already." He groaned out in frustration. "You have two minutes. Come outside now." Lately, something in me had been getting fed up and tired of the way Alec and his family treated me. It was our anniversary and I had been doing chores all morning, only for me to relax, then Lolita and Bella came to visit and now they won't leave, even though it's late like this already. And now, Alec was heading somewhere without me. I heaved in a deep sigh and followed him outside. When we were alone, I vowed to pour out my mind. "Okay. Where are you even going to?" was the first question I was forced to ask seeing how he was in such a hurry. "What do you mean? I gave you two minutes and I'm keeping up to time. I'm not so slow and dumb like you forcing yourself on me just because of money." He spewed out. "Because of money?" My heart ached. This was the man I've crushed on since I was in college. Then when my grandfather mentioned getting married to him or two other names on the arranged marriage list, I was instantly filled with joy because I chose him at once. "What? So your grandfather has little money, that old and fragile man. But you're useless in the family, you won't work or do anything to make money for yourself, and you think you can stay and enjoy my money?" "Alec, you're...you're not making any sense!" I spat out then regretted my actions instantly. Alec's tall domineering stance covered me as he stepped forward with slow steps. When he halted, his eyes swallowed me up, this time it wasn't disgust, rather pity. "So what? You're here married to me because you love me?" My heart sank as I heard him doubt me. "You'll never know it until I'm really gone. And I pity you for that." I was forced to say out of anger. Instead of him to walk out or yell at me, his head fell back and he roared out in laughter. His shoulders shook and when he reached for his stomach, patting himself carefully the way he did when he tried to manags his breath, I began to wonder what really was so funny. "You don't believe me? Of course you won't, not now. I care for you, Alec. Ever since I was in college. I did everything to be by your side, and I've never been happier. Every time I see you, you make my heart skip a beat, but in a good way. I love you more than anything in the world, I guess I even love you more than my life, considering the sacrifices I had to make--" "--Stop making me laugh already. My stomach is starting to hurt, ha!" He calmed down a bit, rubbing his already teary eyes from too much laughter. "You know where you had me at with your act of foolishness and stupidity? When you said I'll miss you when you're gone. You? Where would you go to? You're nothing without me!" I froze right on spot there. True. I couldn't imagine my life without Alec in it. "I just want you to respect me--" "--no tell me, where would you go? Back to your family? You don't even have a job. You're nothing without me." "Is that why you treat me like trash?" My face flushed red now of embarrassment having admitted how much I cared for him, but I just didn't care anymore. "That's pathetic of you. I don't treat you like trash, none of us do. You just allow yourself to be used because of this...fake love you claim you have for me." "Where would I go? I could leave. Damn it, you all would really miss me and regret having looked down on me like this." "Then leave. Be free from my life once and for all! Look at you, you're getting old from all that cooking and chores--" "--you know how your family treat me, you can stop them from looking at me like that, from treating me wrongly like that." I cried out. "You're an adult and can make decisions on your own. Stop being so dependent on me, woman. Your time has elapsed." "You think I can't leave you? That I don't have a life of my own that doesn't revolve around you?" "Yes! Exactly, you don't. Now get out of my sight, you've successfully wasted five minutes of my life." He turned to leave, ignoring how crumbled he had left me with his harsh words, then came back almost immediately. "By the way, I have a little red stain on the collar of my shirt, the one on the bed. Wash it for me and iron it too." "We have maids, Alec," I said in a soft whisper. "I know. Take it as a little punishment, because I know you'll do it." A satisfying smile flashed in his eyes as he turned to leave. I hated how confident he was...the way he sounded...looked at me... Was I such a fool, a moron who would leech on a man for years even though he never loved me back once? A tear rolled down to my cheeks and when I wiped it off, I vowed this would be the last tears I cry for Alec--no. For any man.Meghan's POV "Meghan wait up right now!" Alec's tone was deafening, threatening maybe. How was it that I still found myself falling for this man? Wasn't it clear already that he didn't love me? Or at the very least, he was confused. "You're raising your voice like an uncivilized human. Everyone's looking." I made my tone stern. He paused, then smiled to himself. "This is funny, you know? I want to reset everything right now. From the time you packed your things to leave, when you started to dare me." "Okay, go on," I rolled my eyes. "I'm giving you till tonight to move back. Otherwise, you've made an enemy with the Andersons." He threatened. "You're so stupid you dunno what's about to hit you. But I can save you," Anger filled me now as I continued to listen to his trash. I made it a mental note right that instant not to depend on any man again. I would ace my training and accept support from Adrian, but won't depend on him. Or anyone else again. "Go to hell, Alec." I w
Alec's POV. I was late. No matter how hard I tried, I was always late. The class had started minutes ago, but luckily for me, it was just a casual introduction going on. Silence filled the room as I stepped inside, all eyes fell on me. There was a tall man who was in front, addressing everyone. "Oh at last, you've managed to join us, my name is Philip Banks. What about you?" "Alec. Alec Anderson." I said, while searching around for a seat to take. Everyone were seated in twos, so there was barely a seat that hadn't been filled up already. Then...she raised her hand up and smiled. "This seat is free, come sit here." I couldn't believe my eyes. Meghan? "Welcome Mr Alec, present CEO of Dexton Enterprise. You'd have to come up with the explanation of how you came up with that name. I heard the theory was interesting." Said Philip. I guess I was angry that she even kept a seat for me. After our last conversation, she clearly made me feel so low about myself! Now she was
Meghan's POV I stepped into the building, my heart racing a little. This training would make me end up in an unnecessary reunion with an old college arrogant brat, Paulina Shay, who was now a proud successful CEO of a small firm, it was doing so well she gained fame while she made advertisement.Paulina always looked down on me, and had a gift with making everyone hated me even without knowing me yet. I was saved in my final years because she suddenly got transferred to another school, only lord knew what happened.Besides people like Paulina, there would be other bullies too, I just knew that. I was accompanied by Martins, Jade's driver and sometimes his PA. "It's this way miss." He said, when I started heading the wrong way."Of course. Thanks." I swallowed, admiring how marvelous the building truly was. It was an opportunity just being part of this training. "Before we gather all trainees, Mr Jade would like to see you privately." I nodded and followed him to Jade's office. He
Alec's POV I tried to be good, but I clearly wasn't. Our last conversation had been torturing enough, and now I see her in my dreams too? She was making the bed and smiling as she sighted me. "Remember our first night together? It was magnificent!" She said, then wiggled her index finger for me to come closer. As I get closer, a loud wreck fell and stood in between us. A wreck, like a wall, falling inside the room?! Wasn't that a sad depiction of our current relationship? She had sent a reminder email of when we would be going to the court to finalize our divorce. I didn't like losing...but worse, I didn't like living alone. Now, my mom and Bella never visit. It was always just the maids and I, in the big apartment. Everything reminds me that she's no longer with me. I didn't think it would hurt this much! I heaved in, arranging the clusters of papers that rested on my table. My secretary came in, "Um sir, you have a call from Mr Anderson." I rolled my eyes. He had my
Jade's family were a mess! Much worse than Lolita and Bella could ever be. And at least, Alec dad was nicer. Jade's family were wide, but they all were the same. Right from his abuela down to his cousins. They were brats, a proud household wealthy and rich that they could never ever grow broke. Even their youngest one around four months old was already a billionaire! "Jade is risking so much just by being your friend. Imagine what would happen if they found out you were dating? Whatever is going on between you two, terminate it as quickly as possible. Adrian is kind and soft, and has always loved you no matter how he denied it." After he left, leaving me alone as I headed to the rest room, I clearly believed what grandpa had been talking about. Life was so unfair. Jade was so calm and good but was born into such family. Alec too, was mostly influenced by his mother and sister, believed whatever they said over me. I was heading back to the party because it was hosted outside his m
Meghan's POV "He wants to get married soon, let's hope you're the one he settles down with." He added. Jade winced. I made a mental note to meet him and ask why he acted grumpy whenever Adrian was being mentioned! At the party, Adrian walked over to us as he heard of our arrival. He wore a fine suit and maintained a nice smile. "You made it, Mr Price." He then turned to me and reached for my hand, kissing it gently, "Meghan," our eyes lingered for a moment before he let go of my hand. "And you, Mr. Jade. I see you made it too." Jade smiled, although it didn't reach his eyes. "I accompanied Meghan. We go to most places together." "That's a little creepy, considering that she's a full grown adult who can take care of herself. Then again, maybe it's nice to see you playing the big brother role." Adrian said, smiling as Jade gritted his teeth. I stepped forward to intercept, "please let's all find somewhere to sit. I'm starving." I said, and it worked. "Of course, right t
