TWO WEEKS LATER

“AND YOU DIDN’T THINK OF TELLING US WHEN YOU WENT TO GET THE MARRIAGE LICENCE?”

Mom seethed from across the table causing the whole table to fall into murmurs of agreement. I looked around at the angry, disappointed faces of my people and felt a little bit of sadness tugging at me. A strong hand sought mine from underneath the table and gave it a gentle, reassuring squeeze, reminding me that everything was alright.

“We decided on a whim to get that. We were doing all that needed to be done to save the company.”
