Monica's face turned from pale pink to ghost white. The good news she happily carried stuck in her throat, her jaw clenched and her teeth gritted. She took a step back, her heart rate escalated. She had seen Sly with this girl in newspapers, social media pages and all but seeing it right in front of her staggered her hope. She imagined that after all the sacrifices made, the least Sly should have done was give her respect but that was out of the equation.
Her initial motive was to excuse them but something in her would not allow it. She intended to play a good wife to Sly till he forgave her but now, her thought process was a mess.
