WENDY'S POV

A few minutes after joining the main road, I got stuck in a traffic jam.

“Why is everything not going my way today?” I shouted, frustration evident in my voice.

I reached for my phone which I had tossed aside earlier and started browsing the internet as I occasionally glanced at the traffic, impatiently wishing that there was another route other than this to use to my destination.

Truly, Listowel's name is at the top of the trending news. More and more articles, write-ups, and videos circulated on the internet and the comments were an eyesore.

I so much hate these people who call themselves fans! They cheer you up after an achievement and treat you like a literal goddess but when something bad circulates the air, they suddenly have something mean to say.

I don't even blame them. The only person I blame is Listowel. I am his fiance for Christ's sake? How could he allow these photos to linger on the internet especially when there are already articles on his encoun

EMILY’S POV I sat on the edge of my bed, my phone clutched so tightly in my hand that it could’ve cracked. The news of the hitman’s arrest had been eating at me all day. Every time a car passed outside or my phone buzzed, my heart jumped to my throat. “Was he going to talk?” The question kept repeating itself in my mind so much that I was literally on the verge of going mad. My mind was blank and as much as I tried, I couldn't think of anything. At this point, I could only hope that he keeps his part of the agreement because that huge sum we paid him was not small. My fingers trembled as I tapped Wendy’s name on my phone. She answered as soon as the call went through, her sharp voice cutting through the line before I could even speak. “Emily?” “I’m scared,” I blurted, pacing across the room with my phone in my palms flipped. “I saw on the news that the hitman we sent after Melissa is currently in police custody. What if he tells them everything?” “He won’t.” Wendy simply said.

They did.” I sat forward, pressing my hand gently against his. “And now, we’re going to make sure Wendy and Emily rot in jail for the rest of their lives.” He smiled weakly. “Are you sure you'll be okay taking on the case? I can get any of my lawyers to take over in your instead…..” “I’m a lawyer, aren’t I?” I smirked, even though my chest was pounding. “And I’m also the woman who loves you. That makes me the perfect person to take them down.” “Are

MELISSA’S POV I stepped out of Giovanni’s car and stood still, watching the taillights disappear into the darkness as he drove off. My body was still shaking, my heart still pounding heavily in my chest as I felt the sting of anger bubbling within me. I let out a sigh before turning to head into the apartment building. My mind continued to race as I walked. What was I going to do? Where do I start my investigation into this crime? Was I going to be successful in proving that Wendy was behind all these? As I reached the elevator, I stopped in my tracks. Wait a second. The elevator wasn’t broken? The same elevator that the man from earlier had told me wasn’t working was now fully functional. He lied to me. That bastard lied. He deliberately made me take the stairs just so he could commit the crime without getting caught. I stared at the bright green numbers above the door, confused as I tried to link that weird man to the hitman. Seconds later, the doors opened smoot

Giovanni’s voice trailed behind me like a siren as he consistently called my name, but I didn’t stop. “Melissa!” Giovanni called out. “Melissa, wait!”But I didn’t. MELISSA’S POVThe fluorescent lights in the police station shone brightly over our heads as the officers recorded our statements. I sat at the edge of the plastic chair, my hands trembling in my lap as the dried blood on my blouse began to itch. I couldn't wait to get home and wash it off. The officer in charge was currently threatening not to let the hitman receive any medical care until he talked. Even though I as a lawyer knew it was wrong of him to deny him of his basic right, I couldn't care less. He's a criminal and deserves to be treated as such. To stop more blood from oozing from his wound, they had bandaged his head with a piece of cloth. Giovanni sat beside me, his deadly gaze fixated on the hitman, irritated at him refusing to talk despite all persuasion. I turned to him. “Giovanni… how did you even know to come to my apartment tonight?”His gaze softened as he answered. “I was checking on you,” he said, rubbing his palms together, avoiding my eyes momentarily. “Leti

GIOVANNI’S POV A loud “puff” echoed through the garage as I hit the man’s head with the rod. My heart pounded heavily as the crimson liquid dripped down the rod onto the floor. The man fell to the ground, a scream tearing from his throat as he howled in pain. Melissa, who had her eyes tightly shut and had on a look of someone who was fearfully waiting to die, slowly opened her eyes. Her eyes opened wide with fear and shock as she saw the man who had wanted to injure her rather on the floor. “Melissa,” I said softly. “Giovanni?” she whispered, rushing to my side. “Is that you? What… what are you doing here?” The metal rod that I was holding fell from my hands onto the ground as Melissa tightly hugged me. “Are you okay?” I asked, gently patting her on the back. She sniffed and nodded before saying, “I’m fine. Thank you for saving me. I was so scared…” Her voice broke while her body trembled. Suddenly, she burst into tears. She clung to me tightly as she sobbed
