My fiancée’s parents

“Natasha, are you back?” Olivia asked from the kitchen when she heard the front door open and close.

“Yes, I am back.” Natasha resolved wearily.

Olivia dropped the stainless pan in her hand and hurried to the living room to hear what Natasha came back with from the company.

“So how was the meeting?” She asked fearfully, when she saw Natasha's sad face as she slammed into the sofa.

“He said he wouldn’t press charges…”

“Really? That is amazing! That’s good news! We’d talk to your father about it. He’d get you the money, and everything will be fine.” Olivia cut her short happily.

“Not only that, mother! There’s a condition.”

“Condition? Oh God… what condition?”

“He wants us to get married.” She mumbled.

“What?! Married? What does marriage have to do with all these? He is crazy?”

Olivia sat next to Natasha on the sofa, Natasha moved closer to her and rested her head on Olivia’s shoulder.

“That’s what he wants, Mom.”

“You aren’t granting him his crazy wishes, okay? You got divorced just a month ago, and he expects you to get married now? Who does that?…”

“Mom, you don’t understand.”

“What’s so hard to understand? It’s simple, you’ve apologized, we’d look for the money for you, and then both of you go separate ways.”

“He doesn’t want the money! I have made some errors before this one, he has every right to press charges. I have lost my job, and if he does sue me, I would never have the opportunity to work as an accountant in any company.”

“Your father has connections too.”

“I know, but his connections are nothing compared to Eddy Gracias’ connections.”

Olivia sighed and rested her back. “So you’re just going to get married, just like that? To a man you don’t know?”

“Honestly, I don’t know, Mom. I’ve been thinking about it all through my ride back home. All I know is I can’t let him press charges.”

“This is outrageous! Why does he want to get married to you anyways? Are you the only beautiful woman he has met his whole life?!” Olivia spat angrily.

“He went through my documents and said I’m the perfect person. Maybe because…”

“Because what?”

“I don’t know, Mom. Honestly, I don’t know what seems to interest him about him. I mean, I can’t bear children…”

“Hey… don’t start, okay?”

“But it’s the truth.”

“Don’t! Let me ask you this. When he told you he wanted you to marry him, what did you say to him?”

“He didn’t even give me a chance to say yes or no. He said he’d give me three days to think about it, and if he doesn’t get a positive response, he’d press charges.”

“Oh God, that man is such an asshole. What are you going to do now?”

Natasha exhaled loudly through her mouth and shook her head. “I have no idea, Mom. Right now, I have a migraine and I need to rest.”

She slowly stood up and reached for her bag.

“Are you sure you don’t want your father to deal with this for you?” Olivia further asked.

“He wouldn’t win, and it would cause more trouble, okay? And where is Emma?”

“She’s at Tyler’s, the neighbor's son. They are playing together.”

“Argh… she should be resting.”

“Why?”

“Never mind, Mom. I need to clear my head, and don’t let Emma stay out for too long.”

“Hi, Mom. Are you at home?” Eddy asked his mother on the phone.

“Yes. What is it this time?”

“Can you stop acting so cold to me?”

“No, I can’t. Until you do what you’re supposed to do, Eddy. Your father is on the sick bed, and you can’t even grant him one wish. Just one…”

“Mom, can you let me talk first?”

“Oh please…”

“I’ve found a wife, okay? I’d be at the house in an hour.”

“Wait… Eddy, are you joking right now?”

“I’m not joking, Mom. Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”

“Yes! Yes! This is what I’ve always wanted! I can’t wait to see you, My son! Let me prepare your favorite before you arrive. Bye!”

She hung up almost immediately, Eddy sighed and threw his phone in his pocket.

He walked out of the office and met the manager and Jeremy having a chat in front of the office.

“I’m so scared for Natasha. Only heaven knows what he said to her. She wouldn’t even talk to me.” Jeremy muttered sadly.

“I’m as curious as you are. I tried guessing what must have happened in there through her facial expressions, but I got nothing.” Mr. Manager responded.

Before Jeremy could respond, he saw Eddy open the door. His eyes widened, and he gulped hard.

“I'll get back to work now, Mr. Manager.” He uttered and hurriedly walked away.

“Who is he to her?” Eddy asked coldly, and Mr. Manager looked at him.

“Ermm. They are friends, and I believe they are pretty close.” He answered.

Eddy looked at Jeremy again from where he stood and exhaled.

“Take care of whatever you need to take care of with the new accountant. Leave Natasha to me.”

“Yes sir.”

Eddy nodded and began to walk away. He got to where the elevator was and looked at Jeremy again. He also caught him staring back at him.

“I hope he isn’t some boyfriend of hers. Why did he stand so close to her earlier?” He thought as he headed into the elevator.

~After an hour~

Eddy drove into his parents mansion and parked his car next to his mom’s. He headed to the door and walked into the house.

“Mom! I’m here.”

“Hey, son! I’m in your father’s room!” She replied in a loud voice from the floor on top of him.

Eddy rushed up the stairs and got to his Dad’s room in no time. He saw his father sitting on the bed, his back supported with a pillow.

“Welcome!” Mrs Gracias stood up from the bed, approached him and gave him a hug.

“Hi, mother.”

She broke the hug and he headed to where his father sat. “Hi, Dad. How are you feeling now?”

“Much better, son. Don’t I deserve a hug too?” He asked in a crooked voice, as he slowly spread his hands wide open.

Eddy smiled faintly and wrapped his arms carefully around him.

“I’m happy to see you’re feeling better now.”

“Why won’t I? You are remarrying! This is great news.”

“So tell me, when are we going to meet this woman that stole this stony heart of yours?” Mrs Gracias butted in.

“Why are you in a hurry, mom? Do you think I’m just cooking up a lie?”

“That’s not it, okay? But we are really eager to meet her. Right, baby?” She asked, looking at Mr Gracias.

“Your mother is correct, Eddy. It’s better to be fast with this before you change your mind.”

“I won’t change my mind, okay? But if you two are so eager. Then, you’d be meeting her very soon.”

“I trust she’s beautiful, right?” Mrs Gracias further asked out of excitement.

‘Well, she is f**king beautiful.’ He thought.

“Does that really matter? You’d meet her soon, okay?”

“Hmmm. Okay.” His parents nodded.

“I can’t wait for you to have a family again. Thank God you have put that incident behind you. I can’t believe I still have the chance of carrying your child!” Mrs Gracias added.

She closed her eyes and smiled widely.

Eddy gulped and stood up from the bed. “When was the last time you heard from my brother?” He tried to change the subject.

Mrs Gracias sighed and rolled her eyes.

“You know how your brother can be. Noah hasn’t called home for over two weeks now. That his boyfriend is causing more trouble than good.”

Eddy chuckled and shook his head. “We can never satisfy you, can we?”

“What do you mean?” She pouted, feeling offended.

“When he was at home, you said you wanted to get rid of him because of his naughty and irresponsible behavior. Now he’s gone and you have peace, you want him back?”

“Well… I don’t know, okay? He shouldn’t totally ignore his family because of a man! I hope they don’t break his heart like the others always do. I don’t want him crying back to me. It’s always tiring.”

“Noah is an adult, Mom. Let him do as he pleases.”

“If he was with a girl, maybe…” Mr Gracias uttered, but was cut short by his wife.

“Oh please, don’t start, honey! You said you’d accept him for who he is, as long as he’s happy. You don’t have to imagine him being straight. When the right person comes, he'll be just fine.”

Mr Gracias shrugged and exhaled. “Fine. If you say so.”

Eddy’s phone suddenly vibrated in his pockets. He pulled it out and checked what message it could be. He was pretty surprised to see it was a message from Natasha Jones.

‘How did she get… Oh! I gave it to her.’ He recalled.

He opened the message and read;

“Hi, Mr. Eddy. Please, I’d love to ask for more time to think about what you said to me today. This is a very difficult decision for me, and I’d be so grateful if you could change your mind and let me pay with something else. Thank you. Natasha Jones.”

Eddy clenched his jaw after he finished reading. ‘This woman thinks I’m joking about this. Change my mind?’

“Hey, Eddy, are you alright? You are beginning to frown.” Mrs Gracias uttered with worry all over her face.

“I’m fine, Mom.” He answered and began to text back.

“I told you I won’t take a No for an answer, so why are you thinking about it so much? I’d meet your parents in three days. Prepare yourself, and don’t you dare do something stupid.”

After sending the text, he looked up at his parents and saw them staring at him.

“Guess what? We’d be meeting with my fiancée's parents in three days.” He uttered with a grin.
