It was raining. While standing in a waiting shed, I was staring at the stoplights. I opted to shelter from the rain for a moment because it was pouring so hard. I don't want to return home drenched. Many people were racing over to the waiting sheds because most of them did not have umbrellas to protect themselves from the wailing clouds. I stared at my drenched sneakers as if they were the most fascinating thing in the world.
After a while, the clouds began to clear, so I finally decided to leave. I saw a poster in a shop while out wandering. I came to a halt for a moment, not realizing I was staring at a guy's poster. A woman in a formal dress smiled at me as the sliding door unexpectedly opened. I bet she's a staff of the shop.
"What can I do for you, Ma'am? would you like to take a look at our clothes?" the saleswoman asked so I shooked my head and smiled back.
"Uh no. It's fine, thank you," I said then continued to walk. It took me twenty minutes to reach my apartment.
I took off my wet clothes and warmed myself up. I brewed my favorite coffee then sat near the windowpane. All I did was watch how the rain pour on the busy street. The rain somehow brought me comfort so I was stunned for a few minutes in front of the window until I notice a familiar figure. My forehead furrowed.
Who could it possibly be?
"Ethienne?" I just shooked my head when I confirmed that it wasn't her.
The next day, I woke up late. I had a good night's sleep, so I virtually raced against the clock so I wouldn't be late for work. I don't want to take advantage of my employer's generosity, knowing he helped me a lot.
Unfortunately, the bus I was riding on got stuck in traffic. I promptly handed over the money and ran quickly. I got to the pedestrian lane and fortunately, the cars have stopped.
Oh God, I better hurry!
I passed by a black sports car and my brows met when I noticed the person driving it. I just shrugged my shoulders. When I arrived at the place I usually work, a lot of people were already seated eating there. I took a deep breath before opening the sliding door.
"Solene, please hurry up and help us." I nodded and went into the staff room to change into my work clothes.

I took a peek at the clock. In a blink of an eye, my work was done for today. I bid goodbye to my co-workers and waited for the bus in a waiting shed. There were only two people on the bus because it was almost nine o'clock. I knew I worked overtime. I was about to board the bus when I felt someone staring at me from behind.
It gave me the creeps and I looked back. I was stunned the moment I saw who it was and it seems that he has been tailing me. What is he doing? What does he want from me?
"Camerone?" I was right, it was him. He was just looking at me and I decided to ignore him. I hopped on the bus but I can't still forget the looks on his eyes.
I don't want to recall what was happened to us because it was over. It was just a part of the past that is not worth looking back at. It was just a part of the past that is not worth looking back at. I will end up hurting myself if I did.

"SOLENE!" I almost fell when I heard a knocking and shouting from outside.
"Open this goddamn door!"
Even though I was still sleepy, I forced myself to get out of the bed because my door might end up broken. I don't have anything to replace it.
"Stop yelling! you look like a mistress trying to wage a war so early in the morning!" I said and walked into the living room. I yawned and stretched a bit before opening the door. I saw Ethienne's usual bitchy face.
"It's entirely your fault. You're too lazy to move an inch, you sluggish bitch!" I didn't mind her and pushed her to the living room so that her mouth would stop saying nonsense.
It's embarrassing, I felt sorry for my neighbors.
"What brings you here?" I asked and yawned again. Honestly, I'm still sleepy. If I don't wake up, I'll end up having a slap mark on my cheeks.
"Looks like it's going to be a while for us to see each other again." Her face had a solemn expression on it and I don't like it.
"Why?"
"I have to look for a new job. My salary was not enough to cover my brother's school fees and to feed my family." I was stunned and looked at her.
"Stay here," I said and went back to the room. I searched for something and when I found it, I immediately went back to where Ethienne was.
"Here, take it." I gave her the little money I had saved. I guess it was enough for the help.
"What am I going to do with this? I can work, you know." She shook her head and returned the piggy bank to my hand.
"Just keep it. Let's have samgyupsal someday," she said. She laughed and then smiled at me as if to express her contentment.
"I guess I have to go." I sighed then handed back the piggy bank to her hands.
"Solene," she said and all I could do was smile.
"Go ahead, take it. Who else will help? It's just me." She instantly smiled and hugged me.
"Thanks a lot. I'll promise to make it up to you next time." I hugged her then hit her forehead.
"What the heck was that for?" I just laughed.
"I'll go ahead then. I'll return this piggy bank of yours soon. Thanks!" She gave me a flying kiss and she left. Honestly, she looked so stupid but that's the way she is.
She was so fun to be with because you don't know what she's up to. Sometimes, you won't know if she's been possessed or bewitched. Her mouth is unstoppable that even the word 'retreat' or 'back out' is definitely not her thing.
I was jealous and admired her at the same time because she could easily express her feelings and was free to say whatever she wanted to say. Unlike me, who is too cowardly and always runs away whenever unfortunate things happen. It's ridiculous but it was the truth.
Yes, I hate to admit it, but I was a coward. I just don't want trouble as much as possible. I'm so fed up with trouble. I just wanted to have a good and quiet life. That was more than enough for me.
I can still endure it all, so I will keep going no matter what.

Chapter 09 - Must have been the wind Solene I was looking directly at my empty plate placed on the table. I'm waiting for my mother to come home and I still hadn't eaten anything yet. Tita Faranh, our neighbor and friend gave me something to eat, but I just waited for my mother to come home. I want to eat with her. I heard a faint knock on the door, and I rushed over there. I opened the door and my shoulders fell when I saw that it was not my mother. It was Tita Faranh. "Is your mother not home yet?" she said, and I gently shook my head. "Where on earth did she go? By the way, have you eaten? " I shook my head again. "No, I'm not hungry." I noticed her outfit, it looked like she was going somewhere. "Why don't you go ahead and eat it? I'm sure you're hungry, " she said, then headed to our small kitchen. I didn't follow her, I remained standing by the door and patiently waited for my mother to arrive. "I'm still full. I'll just wait for Mama. " I looked back at the kitchen, and
Chapter 08 - Must have been the windSolene"No! Solene! " I heard my mother cry as she tried to keep me inside her warm embrace. There were several men trying to take me away from her, and I didn't know any of them. I'm not sure why we came here in the first place, and I could feel sinister in this whole strange place. I could smell the smoke of cigarettes, rum, and vodka, and the smell of rusting steel was everywhere. Where are we? I was certain that I had no idea. What did they need from us?
Chapter 07 - Must have been the wind Solene I opened my eyes as the sun's rays pierced the window. I got out of bed and pushed the curtains aside, allowing the sunlight to flood the room. I made my bed before leaving my room, like I always did. I went out to find Ethienne, singing in my kitchen while preparing our breakfast. I tried not to laugh, but I couldn't help it at all.
Chapter 06 - Must have been the windSoleneI stood there, allowing them to hurl hateful insults at me. I'm used to it, as if it's become a part of me. My life has been extremely different since I moved in with them, compared to when my mother was still alive."Where's the money? I need to get my hands on that limited-edition new lipstick!" I let her
Chapter 05 - Must have been the windHydeThat man was a complete lunatic! I'm not even sure why I hit the jerk in the face. What is happening to me? The feeling is so strange that I couldn't even explain it. I remember the look on her face earlier. It was so soft and tender.Maybe she's insane. She let that drunkard grab her wrist.
Must have been the wind - Chapter 04Solene"Is this what you're going to feed to us? Is this some sort of dog's food?!" My aunt was furious and was yelling at me.Sardines stewed with garlic and onion are the only thing I can think of to cook and that is what is served on the table. There is no food stock here and I have no money left to go buy a grocery. They took all my money and just squandered it.I looked at the food served on the table. It's also pro
