“We all thought you’d choose Isabella as your Luna.”

Then someone added, “Instead, you’re marking Lyra Rowan. She was never exactly a great beauty, and those Silver Scars certainly didn’t help.”

Kael’s voice turned cold. “Watch your mouth.”

The Alpha authority in his tone swept through the room, “Whatever you think of Lyra, she is my future Luna. No one insults her in my presence.”

A chorus of hurried apologies followed.

A faint glow lit up the phone on the table. One of Kael’s friend whistled. "Isabella Hawthorn."

Kael picked up the call, his voice noticeably gentler. “Isabella, what made you call?”

Isabella’s bright laugh floated through the speaker. “I just received the necklace you sent me. Kael, it’s beautiful.”

“I saw it at the auction and thought it would suit you.” Kael said.

“I love it, but it must have cost a fortune.”

“Three million isn’t a fortune.” His voice softened. “If it makes you happy, it was worth it.”

Isabella laughed again. “Then I’ll wear it to your Marking Ceremony.”

“Of course.” Kael paused before adding, “I’ll have a gown made for you as well. If you’re wearing that necklace, the dress needs to be perfect.”

After the call ended, I heard him contact Ravencrest Pack’s most sought-after designer.

“I need a custom gown completed within three days,” he ordered. “Use whatever materials you need. The cost doesn’t matter.”

Then Kael seemed to remember something. “I’ll send you the Moon Sapphire. Set it into the gown.”

“The Moon Sapphire?” someone asked in disbelief. “There’s only one in existence.”

Another man sounded even more surprised. “Wasn’t that supposed to be the center stone in Lyra’s engagement ring?”

“You’re giving it to Isabella as decoration?”

Kael answered without hesitation. “Lyra already has enough jewelry. She won’t miss one stone. Isabella’s dress has to match the necklace.”

I lowered my head with a bitter smile.

For my own Marking Ceremony, I had nothing except a cheap white veil. It was the only thing Kael had prepared for me to wear at our Marking Ceremony.
