Chapter 3

On the way back, Laurent remained silent.

Jason, however, kept observing me, as if afraid I would suddenly harm his pup.

Meanwhile, I simply opened the internal Pack communication network and replied to the Northern Alliance’s transfer request:

“The long-term weapons consultant position, I accept it.”

Back when my father was still alive, the Northern Alliance had invited me to become their consultant.

My father taught me a lot about making werewolf weapons.

Later, when my parents passed away, I turned down the initial invitation because I felt Silvermoon Pack only had Jason left.

I couldn’t abandon him.

Thinking back now, it was just insane.

I had already given up my own life once for him.

There would not be a second time.

Upon returning to the castle, Jason called me into the side hall.

The moment the door closed, his expression turned completely cold.

“Lyra, I’m warning you. Laurent is carrying my pup now. If you harm her, even if you are the daughter of the former Alpha, I will not tolerate it.”

My heart felt as if it had been stabbed viciously.

I raised my eyes.

“Jason. You think I would harm her?”

He glared at me, perhaps trying to gauge whether I knew about his restored memory.

After a few seconds, he said,

“I’m just reminding you. She is your best friend. In the future, you should take more care of her.”

I didn’t answer.

Not long after, Laurent found an excuse to call me outside.

Her eyes were red.

“Lyra...”

I only asked,

“When did it happen?”

She burst into tears immediately.

“There was one night we drank too much Soulmoon Wine. Jason hadn’t recovered yet. I really didn’t mean to. Afterward, I took Heat Suppressant. Maybe the medication failed... that’s why...”

I thought Laurent was helping me.

I thought the man my father died to save would at least not betray his last request.

In the end, they had already crossed that line long ago.

Laurent suddenly fell to her knees and slapped herself hard across the face.

“I am the one who betrayed you. Just say the word, and I will go to the Healing Center tomorrow. I won’t keep this pup.”

“Keep your pup.”

She snapped her head up.

“What?”

“The pup is innocent.”

Her tears cascaded down.

“Then what about you? What about you and Jason?”

She tried to take my hand.

I brushed her hand aside.

Before I could speak, Jason walked out.

Seeing Laurent kneeling at my feet, his wolf nature instantly erupted.

His eyes flushed red in an instant.

“Lyra!”

He yanked Laurent behind him.

“Did you not hear a single word I just said?”

Laurent quickly explained,

“No, I knelt on my own! It has nothing to do with Lyra!”

“Enough. Lyra! Tonight, you move out of the Central Castle.”

The air went instantly quiet.

Laurent pretended to cry.

“Jason... She ‘s my best friend.”

Jason continued,

“Laurent is carrying my pup. This will be the place where she lives as the Luna. It is no longer appropriate for you to continue living here.”

I looked at him and suddenly asked,

“Are you sure?”

Jason frowned.

“What?”

“Are you sure you want me to leave this place?”

He clearly failed to catch my true meaning.

“Yes. There are vacant member residences in the East District. I’ll have the Beta set one up for you.”

My inner wolf roared.

After a long time, she spoke just one sentence:

“Let’s go.”

I nodded.

“Fine. Don’t regret it.”

Jason held Laurent and rolled his eyes at me.

“We won’t! Get out!”
