Chapter 4

Author: Chelsea Harper
I returned to the side room and began packing my belongings.

There wasn’t much to pack.

Most of my things had already been moved out of the castle bit by bit by Laurent.

The longblade left by my father, my mother’s moonstone necklace, and their private documents had long been stored in the secret chamber of the Ancestor’s Hall.

Everything that truly belonged to me fit inside a single suitcase.

When I reached the doorway, Laurent rushed up.

“Lyra, don’t be angry. Tonight I will definitely convince Jason to let him bring you back.”

“Stop pretending you’re on my side.”

I pulled my hand back.

For the first time in my life, I walked out of the Central Castle as a guest.

The guards of the Pack saw me dragging my luggage, every single one of them were shocked.

“Miss Lyra? You are leaving...?”

I smiled.

“The Alpha asked me to move out.”

The guards’ expressions instantly changed.

Many of them were old warriors who had served under my father.

One of them even instinctively looked toward the castle, his lips moving, though no sound came out in the end.

I didn’t make things difficult for them either.

Once I stepped out of the core territory, I immediately contacted the Elder in charge of land contracts at the Alpha Council.

“I want to activate my ancestral land inheritance rights.”

The other side was visibly shocked.

“Now?”

“Yes. A soon as possible.”

Most of Silvermoon Pack’s public territory belonged to all werewolves.

But the central Central Castle, the Ancestor’s Hall, the Moon Spring, and the core area near the eastern training grounds were private ancestral lands owned by my family.

After my father passed away, the sole legal heir was me.

For the past six months, I had allowed Jason to continue using them simply because I assumed we would eventually become a family.

Now, there was no longer any need.

The Elder asked in a low voice,

“Are you sure? Once the authorization is formally revoked, the current Alpha must vacate the ancestral land within the stipulated timeframe, including the Central Castle.”

“I am sure. In addition, I plan to leave Silvermoon Pack, so the ancestral lands will temporarily be placed under the management of the Alpha Council. Anyone who wishes to continue using them must obtain my written authorization.”

In the end, the Elder simply said,

“I understand.”

My best friend?

My former mate?

Let me see how long you can stay in my castle.

The weapons worked even better than we had expected.Within months, the Northern Alliance pushed back the Rogues that had occupied our borders for years. More Packs joined us, and our territory continued to expand. For the first time in generations, the northern Packs were no longer fighting separately. They were becoming one.At the next Northern Council, every Alpha rose from their seat. And they chose me.“Lyra Aurora. We ask you to become Queen of the Northern Packs.”I looked around the Council Hall.Once, I had given up the Northern Alliance because I thought my place was beside Jason. Now, I finally understood. This was where I was meant to be.My parents had never raised me simply to become someone’s Luna. They had raised me to lead.So I accepted.“I will.”My inner wolf lifted her head proudly inside me.And for the first time, when the wolves around me bowed, I did not stand behind an Alpha.I stood before them as their Queen.News from Silvermoon Pack reached me occasionall

The Bonding Ceremony was canceled.Laurent’s nomination as Luna was suspended by the Elders’ Council.More importantly, for the first time, Jason’s authority within Silvermoon Pack began to visibly weaken. Not because he had chosen the wrong she-wolf. But because an Alpha had nearly recognized another werewolf’s pup as a future heir without verifying the bloodline. For a Pack, that was far more serious than a betrayal.Several older Warriors who had once served under my father openly said,“If the former Alpha were still alive…”“This never would have happened.”The words spread quickly throughout Silvermoon Pack.Several days later. Jason left Silvermoon Pack alone. He traveled to the territory where the Aurora family’s collateral relatives lived. That day, my aunt was speaking to me through Mind-link when one of the guards suddenly reported,“Alpha Jason of Silvermoon Pack requests entry.”My aunt laughed coldly.“He actually has the nerve to come here.”She walked to the gate.Jaso

Inside the Healing Center.Three blood samples were sealed inside separate moonstone vessels.Jason.The unborn pup.And the werewolf named Derek. The Healer compared their inner-wolf bloodline signatures. The room was completely silent. When the result appeared, the Healer did not speak immediately. But Jason had already seen the look on his face.“Say it.”The Healer lowered his voice.“Alpha Jason. The pup carries no paternal inner-wolf bloodline connection to you.”Jason went completely still. The next sentence was even worse.“The bloodline matches Derek.”The entire room fell into dead silence. Jason stared down at the result. For a long time. Then suddenly, he laughed once.“So…”He slowly looked at Laurent.“I almost… Named another werewolf’s pup… The future Alpha heir of Silvermoon Pack?”Laurent’s face was white.“Jason, let me explain…”Jason grabbed her wrist hard.“You let me drive Lyra away for this pup. You let me announce before the entire Pack that he was my first pup.

On the day of the Bonding Ceremony, the public altar of Silvermoon Pack was surrounded by werewolves. It was not the Moon Spring. But Jason had still arranged everything at the highest possible standard.Laurent wore a silver-white ceremonial gown. She stood beside Jason, her stomach already slightly rounded. The Moon Priestess was about to ask them to recite their Mating Vows when an unfamiliar voice rang out from behind the crowd.“Wait! This Bonding Ceremony… Cannot continue.”The entire altar fell silent.A tall werewolf pushed his way through the crowd. No one recognized him.Except Laurent. The moment she saw him, all color drained from her face. She instinctively stepped behind Jason.Jason immediately noticed.“You know him?”Laurent took one step back.“I…”“Of course she knows me.”Jason moved in front of Laurent.“Who are you?”The werewolf looked straight at him.“I’m the father of Laurent’s pup.”Jason’s pupils contracted sharply.“What did you say?”The werewolf looked d

The next day, the Central Castle was officially sealed. Jason and Laurent moved into the East District residence he had originally prepared for me.Meanwhile, I officially joined the weapons development division of the Northern Alliance. No one there called me “the daughter of the former Alpha.”No one asked why I had failed to become Luna. They cared about one thing. My ability. On my first day, the Beta overseeing weapons development placed a modified wolfsbane dagger blueprint in front of me.“I heard you redesigned this?”I nodded. He studied it for a long time. Then he said only one word.“Perfect. The northern border Warriors will like it.”For a moment, I thought of my father. When he taught me to sharpen my first silver blade as a pup, he had told me something similar.“Don’t be afraid that others won’t recognize your worth. Anything truly useful will prove its own value.”I used to believe becoming Jason’s Luna was the most important future I could have.Only after leaving

The entire main hall fell into a dead silence.Jason’s inner wolf thrashed violently inside his body. “Where is she? I want to see her.”The Elder raised his eyes.“Miss Lyra left Silvermoon Pack early this morning for the Northern Alliance.”Jason’s color drained instantly. “Left? Who allowed her to leave?”“Alpha, she is a free werewolf, not your subordinate. Furthermore…”He paused. “Didn’t you personally drive her out of the Central Castle yesterday?”That single sentence caused Jason to freeze completely on the spot. The Elder rolled the scroll back up. “According to the ancestral land contract, starting from now, you have 24 hours to vacate the Central Castle. A new Alpha office location can be arranged within the public territory of the Pack. Furthermore, the eastern training grounds will be closed starting today. The Moon Spring may not be used to hold Luna ceremonies without the permission of the Aurora heir.”Laurent is shocked.Because she had originally planned to recei
