Chapter Twenty-Four

Alpha Haden

The fire was crackling and the moon was bright. The smell of fresh grass that had been cut before dusk still filled the air. As the gentle breeze patted my skin. I sat by the side of the fire, absorbing the warmth and mindlessly throwing dirt into it.

Earlier that day, after asking my mother about Tasyra, I was lured by Zaryn's charms into the garden.

“I know you're upset about Tasyra,” Zaryn had said to me, “but I think you're placing too much importance on her. Other things are worth your time and energy.”

I stopped walking and turned to look at Zaryn. “What other things are worthy of my time?”

“I am your Luna-to-be,” she ran after me. “We are supposed to spend time together,” she got to me and held my hand.
