Kayla’s POV

I turned to look at Fiona as the palace was on fire due to Mara being hurt.

“You know, I never saw you as an enemy or anything. I always saw you as someone I could actually work with. But did you see me as someone you could have as a friend? No. When I saw you showing up to talk to me I thought to myself that maybe we could be friends but instead all you wanted to do was drag me down and make me feel bad about everything.

“You didn’t care about me or anything. All you cared about was dragging me down by all means. Well, now why are you apologizing? It’s not like you did anything to me, right? So why apologize?”

“I pushed you down the stairs,” she said. “I shouldn’t have done that. I was stupid to have done that. I should have simply left you alone.”
