I continued to walk back and forth.

From the Couch to the window.

From the Window to the door.

Then repeated the cycle all over again.

I kept moving around in the living room, counting my steps, biting my fingernails, which I usually did when I was nervous. My legs ached, but my brain still insisted on the movement. Every second Nick was not there felt like a crime had occurred.
