SAMANTHA'S POV
"What are you doing here?" She looked at me with a puzzled expression and continued smirking like one who had set a trap and was watching her prey fall into it. "Can't I visit my sister anymore? I couldn't see you after the wedding, you zoomed off like you didn't want anything to do with the family." She said smiling. "I couldn't even bade you farewell." She was calm, her voice had a polite tone, she didn't look like someone who was here for trouble. "Are you here because of what happened at the hospital?" I asked in an attempt to reveal her intent. "What happened?" She asked, i could see the confusion on her face. Maybe she really wasn't here to confront me for what happened with her mum at the hospital. "You've been kind to me and also being the perfect sister for as long as I can remember, I just wanted to come here to congratulate you on your wedding since I didn't get a chance to do that yesterday." "Is that all this unexpected visit is all about?" "I couldn't call you, my phone battery is flat, besides, it wouldn't be a surprise if I had to call first. I just wanted to do something nice." I still wasn't sure but then, she wasn't a threat right now "Do you something nice? What do you mean?" She finally brought her hands that had been behind her back the whole time, revealing a variety of flowers. "See, I just wanted to give you this." She said extending the bouquet to me. "If you're not going to let me in, I better leave, my legs already hurt from standing outside in these heels." She said and looked down to her legs. My eyes followed her, indeed she was wearing a ridiculously high heel, I took the flowers from her and opened the door wide enough for her to pass through. I placed the flowers on the sitting room table and turned around to find him standing by the stairs. "You're awake." I said nervously, picking a bottle of water from the stacks on the floor. He nodded and went to sit down. "Uhmm. This is my sister Lisa, I know you might have seen her at wedding." I said trying my possible best to not make the encounter awkward. "Hi Mr Noah Ramson, I'm Lisa your sister-in-law, it's a really nice house you have here and I'm really sorry we couldn't chat after the wedding. I guess you guys wanted to spend sometime together, alone, in private." She said in one breathe. I gagged on the water, leaving me fighting to catch my breathe. "Careful Sis, you don't want to land in the hospital." Lisa said from where she sat down. Close to him? What was she doing? "I'm fine." I said placing the bottle on the table, my palm sweaty. "Hi Lisa, it's a pleasure meeting you." He said and went back to his phone. "I love what you're doing with your company though, you have been in the news for a while, even before the wedding and I really look up to you, you're like my mentor." She said shifting even more closer to him. He nodded and continued on his phone, I don't know what she's up to, but it was so cringe. "I'll fix you something to eat Lisa." I said standing up and half expecting her to join me in the kitchen. "Okay, I'll keep Mr Noah company." She said and continued smiling at him. I stood up and left for the kitchen area, I had seen a lot and there was no way I would let her embarrass me in front of him. I had this gut feeling that she was up to no good but I had nothing to back up my claim, the sudden visit and the fact that she was trying to be cozy with him, made my suspicion fly at all directions. Her laughter was loud and it was easy for me to overhear their conversations, I could barely hear him talk but her voice? It was annoyingly loud, making me want to slam something into my ears. I looked around the kitchen, that was when it hit me that I didn't ask what she wanted, meaning I had to go back there to see her display once again. I dropped the pot I had picked up and was making my out of the kitchen when I stopped in my track. "You know she's not a marriageable girl, right? She's like the family black sheep and it has been hard trying to tame her ever since she was kid, a rebellious one, that's who she is." Who was she talking about? "When we were kids, she would snatch everything that belonged to me and try to steal from others too, she became too difficult that my dad had to bring my mum home since her own mother couldn't help. When her rebellious life got too much, my dad had to marry her off to your uncle." I froze, I wasn't wrong after all. "You're a nice person even though you don't talk much, even your interviews, you only talk when you're been talked to and I understand. I can't watch someone like you be under her evil spell, so I'll advise you end this now that you still have time." I pushed open the door and came in front of her, trying to hold down the anger that was boiling inside me. She stopped and moved away from him immediately she noticed me, he also stood up and went back upstairs. "Dad said you should return home immediately, he has errands for you." I said when I was sure Noah was out of earshot. She scratched her head and looked up at me "that's weird, if he wanted me to run errands for him, he would have called me." "I thought your phone battery was flat?" I asked folding my arms. "Yeah, that must be the reason he called you." She said standing up." I better start leaving now, can you please tell Noah that I left and I would really love us to connect and talk more." She said walking to the door. "About what? What's so private that you can't talk to his wife about?" "I don't know, it'll be better you don't know." "And why is that?" I asked not willing to back down. She moved her bag to her right shoulder and walked close to me " Listen, the earlier you come down from that high horse you're struggling to climb, the better. Do you think because you married him, you're now better than me? I'm still Lisa just Incase you have forgotten." I knew it. "And what does that mean?" "Him, you think exchanging vows on the alter is where it ends? We both know this is a sham, so watch your tone with me. This isn't where it ends, learn to sleep with your eyes open, because I'm coming for him and every other thing you think you have." She said before slamming the door as she passed through it. The sound echoed , leaving an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. It wasn't the words but the way she said it, like my fate had already been decided, I knew immediately that I wasn't prepared for what was to come.NOAH'S POV I looked at her from where I stood, her face held no expression, not like I wanted anything from her."Your house is still the same, I've really missed this place." Elena said tugging at my shirt.I turned to look at her, her face was still pale, the same way she had looked when she walked into my office earlier today."I'm dying Noah." She had said with tears streaming down her face.I had been both shocked and confused but I had no time to think before drawing her now slim frame into a tight hug."You'll be fine Elena." I had said as I pat her back continuously till she went silent. After giving her water and watching her empty the content of the bottle, she had gone ahead to tell me how she was diagnosed of cancer, the details were just too much for me to take in.It had ended with me agreeing for her to come stay at mine for a while, I explained to her that I had gotten married, she didn't seem to have any issue with that."Is this your wife?" She asked moving over to
SAMANTHA'S POV We finally moved to the new house, this time, he was nice enough to give me my own room."The housekeepers will be available in case you need help with anything." I looked at the people he called his housekeepers, there was an elderly lady, a young girl and a man who I assumed was the Gardner, they had their quarter behind the house."Welcome Ma." They all said in Unison."Thank you." I replied before following him to the room he wanted to show me.I returned to my own room after the tour round the house, the place was even more luxurious and big, way more than I had imagined.I took my shoes off and laid down on my soft bed, my thoughts wandering off to the past events of the previous days.My stepmother and my sister were to be released later in the day, I hoped whatever they might have gone through in police custody would be enough to make them leave me alone, atleast I was sure that they wouldn't find me here.Mum was scheduled for a surgery later in the week, I
NOAH'S POVI hated Scandals!I hated having my name up on the net for the wrong reason.I hated when bloggers had a field day with my name and the worst part, I hated having to watch her shake like a wet puppy in my presence."I honestly didn't take the necklace, I don't know why they're doing all this." She said as more tears streamed down her face.I had heard the sound of something crashing while I was busy with work, only to rush downstairs and found her wet, eyes wide open like she had seen a ghost with her body shaking vigorously. She had shown me the headline after I kept on trying to find out the issue. It was my first scandal and I hated the look of it."Are you sure it was your sister that did this?" I asked again because it didn't make sense that one's own blood would want to go this far."Yes, she sent me a message earlier demanding I sent her money so she would bury the issue, I didn't reply and she decided to do this." "Okay, I believe you. No matter what, stay indoors
SAMANTHA'S POV "I don't know how that found it's way into my bag, I swear I didn't put it there." "Then who did? You think my mum and I would do that to accuse you or what?" Lisa said coming to stand in front of me."I didn't, I honestly didn't take that, have no idea how it got into my bag." I tried saying again but my stepmom was already dragging me by my hair.It took the help of Noah for her to stop, he stood in between us and took the bag from her.Bringing out the necklace, he gave it to Lisa without saying a word."Noah, you see the woman you choose to marry? This is how she is, always taking what doesn't belong to her, this isn't the first and I'm sure it wouldn't be the last." Lisa said shooting dagger stares at me.When she had said she was going to take everything from me, I never knew this was how low she could go to destroy the little peace I thought I had made for myself."Samantha, don't think because you're married you can escape this, don't worry, you'll Rot in jai
SAMANTHA'S POV"But I'm trying to help too, you think I enjoy this?" I retorted. He stood up and left the room, totally ignoring me. I sat back on the couch in anger.Who did he think he was? It wasn't my fault that we were in this situation, so why was I the only one looking for the watch? What was even so special about it? It was just a $200 wristwatch. He was even threatening me, how does he expect me to bring it back in a week? He's a disrespectful drunk and I hate myself for being in this situation with him."Can you extend the deadline to maybe a month? I promise to look under the earth to get it." I yelled at the top of my voice.Silence.Ruthless much.I rested my head on the table in frustration, my head filled ways to get back the only thing that tied us together, soon enough before my dad finds out.My phone beeped from my side pocket, I picked it up to see a call from my Dad."Samantha, can you let Noah know we're hosting a dinner later and I would really want him to be
SAMANTHA'S POV I went upstairs to find him at the beginning of the stairs."You should be more careful around her, I don't think she likes you that much." He said and went down the stairs."Okay"I turned and went back to the room, whatever had happened today was embarrassing, there was no way I wanted a repeat of it.What was the meaning of what she said? I knew my sister to be a meanie when she wants to and her mum? They were both a recipe for chaos when working together."What do I do?" I muttered to myself as I sat down on my bed. Here I was in an arranged marriage with a man I had spent a night with, someone I had thought I wouldn't meet again, I was still trying to navigate that part and now my sister wants to complicate things for me.This was one of the times I wished mum was here, she would have known what to do, I missed her, I missed her even more now, I hated the fact that I was thrown into being in full survival mood all the time.My Dad? He couldn't do more even if it w
