"He is home with an ice pack on his head"

"An ice pack? What is wrong with him?" I asked alarmed

"When he got the news that there was a crash, and he hadn't seen you or heard from you for some hours, he slumped and bumped his head, so he is using an ice pack for the swelling on his head," Joe explained
