"Babies,” she gasped, placing her hand over her mouth to silence it. “There is a possibility he had two?”

“Huh?” one of the nurses spoke. “Did you hear something?”

“It’s probably the wind or something. It’s making you hear what isn’t there.”

“Probably,” the other replied sheepishly. “How are the babies doing? You said they were both asleep?”

“Yeah, the boy fell asleep just fine.” She let out an exasperated sound. “The girl though is another problem.”

The other nurse chuckled at her words. “Kept crying all through, huh?”

“You don’t know the half of it,” she said, exhausted. “There is something wrong with that kid despite the issues she has.”

“Even her own mother can’t do anything.” They both chuckled again.

“Even Miss Joanna can’t do anything to stop her crying,” they laughed. “Thankfully it doesn’t wake the boy though.”

“That one sleeps like a log throughout.”

“Kinda makes you wonder if she is really the mother of those kids.”

“Don’t start shit.”

“Calm your titties,” she scoffed. “Mr Kingston is pretty much over two decades older than her. Got her pregnant and she bore him two kids—”

“I don’t want to hear your conspiracy theories—”

“Shut up and listen.” She cracked a knuckle. “She got knocked up expecting him to marry her after giving him two children. You see the way she throws herself at him?”

“She is hoping he would look at her and marry her as his wife or something.” She scoffed again. “She thinks this is a movie.”

“Oh my god, you are just jealous of her?” the other breathed out. “You want it to be you so badly being doted on and not Miss Joanna. You wish it was you if such an opportunity presented itself.”

She was silent for a beat. “Whatever.” She stood up. “It’s not like I dated an older man to get money.”

“It’s not like a wealthy older man would settle or have kids with a bitter person like you.” That struck a nerve. She dusted herself off.

“Is Joanna awake?” she asked.

“Why? You wanna poison her?” they answered skeptically. “She is asleep.”

“Tch.” She let out a sound at the first statement. “Sleeping when her child is crying. Mother of the year.”

“If she watched after them then we would be out of a job,” they spoke mockingly.

She left, walking away from them into the house where the other nurses were gathered.

“Two babies?” Sophia murmured.

She managed to walk back toward where she scaled the fence from. Before she grabbed it, she looked back, seeing no lights on the second floor.

The place was massive as she took it in, before scaling over. Landing on the other side, she walked back to her car.

She got inside, started it, and returned back.

“Joanna.” She clenched her fist. “He got another woman pregnant again?”

Her breath came out more short, both from anger and the air from what she had done. “He bought her a house and moved her in.”

“Why, why, why?” She hit the horn as her vision blurred. “First that annoying bitch, now he has replaced her with another one.”

By the time Sophia made it back to London, the sky was already starting to lighten. She didn’t go home. Instead, she drove straight to a high-end electronics and surveillance store that opened early for private clients.

She walked in with a cold, focused expression and requested the best equipment they had.

A high-powered telephoto lens. Night-vision attachments. A silent camera body that could take clear shots from a long distance. Extra batteries. A small portable recorder.

The total was expensive, but she didn’t flinch when she paid.

As she loaded the bags into her car, her jaw was tight.

“You think you can just hide them from me?” she muttered under her breath. “A whole secret family… two babies… another woman in a countryside house he bought for her.”

She slammed the car door harder than necessary.

This time she wouldn’t rely on hearsay or half-caught conversations. She needed clear, undeniable proof. Photos. Evidence that Eric Kingston had another woman and two children tucked away from the public eye.

Sophia started the engine, her grip tight on the steering wheel.

“Next time that van makes a delivery,” she said quietly, eyes hard, “I’ll be ready. I’ll get the shots. And then everyone will know exactly what kind of man you are.”

She drove off into the early morning traffic, already planning her next infiltration.

She parked her car deeper between the bushes, making it easier to sneak through unnoticed.“I need a better view of what’s going on,” she muttered, circling the perimeter while trying desperately to stay stealthy. She ducked as a security light flashed toward where she stood, pressing herself against a tree for cover. Once the light moved to a different spot, she stood back up and continued crawling closer to the house. She moved carefully, using the trees and darkness as cover while searching for the main building.“When did he buy a house out here in the countryside?” she wheezed, pausing for a moment to catch her breath after jogging several minutes.“I need to find where that van entered.” She started walking again, this time heading deeper into the property. It was quiet. Parts of the land were thick with trees and shadows.“I just hope there aren’t any coyotes or wild animals out here,” she whispered. The stretch of land was vast—too much for her to scale alone without equipment

Sophia parked in front of the warehouse owned by King’s Holdings. She turned off the lights and sat in the dark, waiting. Truth be told, she wasn’t fully sure about this. She was going by a hunch.“All my bets are on this hunch,” she muttered, taking a sip of her hot drink. “If this turns out to be a dud, I don’t know what else I can do.”She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.“I’ll get through this. I’ll find a way even if this isn’t real.”Her eyes drifted to the laptop on the passenger seat. She still had access to the inventory system used by King’s Holdings from before she got suspended. From the old data, she knew that once every week, a truck came at night to load medical supplies. This was her third night of waiting. She didn’t know if they had changed the schedule, but she was still counting on it.She looked at the list of items again and frowned. The supplies were strange. Most of them pointed toward the care of a pregnant woman, not a child or a regular patient

Sophia paced around the living room. This was the only place she had left after everything that happened in the last couple of days.“He threw me out of the house,” she muttered, digging her hands into her hair. “He blocked the supplementary cards he gave me.”Her chest felt tight.“How am I going to get through this?” Her voice cracked. “How am I going to pay rent? How am I going to fuel my car? How am I going to eat? How am I going to survive?”She sat heavily on the armrest of the couch, staring at the floor.“This is too much to be a coincidence. I’ve been thrown out… and now I’m about to lose everything.”She clenched her fists on her lap.“This has Eric written all over it.”It was only partly true. Eric had given William a heads-up about the investment, and that had been enough to make William react this way. Apart from that and throwing her out, Eric hadn’t directly destroyed her. The rest was the result of her own choices finally catching up with her.Still, the anger burned.

There was nothing Sophia could do.While she waited for Eleanor to finally get her revenge on Autumn, she still had to find a way back into Eric’s good books. That was the only path that made sense. If she could force him to publicly acknowledge their relationship — even just as a serious partner — the debt hanging over her head might finally become manageable. She paced the length of her living room, arms crossed tightly.“How did I never know about that trust under King’s Holdings?” she muttered to herself. She had personally overseen the company for weeks after he demoted her to manage it. She had gone through reports, financial statements, and board documents. Yet somehow this had slipped past her.“A medical trust…” The idea felt strange. “Who was he trying to protect? Or what was he trying to hide?”She bit down on her thumbnail, mind racing.“I need to find out more about that trust. I need more information if I w

They spent the entire day together, the picture of what a family was supposed to look like. After they finished Fin’s school project, they had dinner. Autumn watched as Eric carefully carried their son — already fast asleep after the long day — into the bedroom. When he returned, she was unwinding on the couch with a glass of wine in her hand. “Should you be drinking that?” he asked, picking up the bottle from the table. She rolled her eyes. “I’m not pregnant, and I’m not breastfeeding. This means nothing.” He frowned as she took another sip. Outside, the sun was already setting, and she was drinking this early. “It’s too early for you to be drinking,” he said, reaching for the glass. “I need it to deal with you.” She moved it out of his reach. “Fin is already asleep, right?” She stared at him, clearly annoyed by the interruption. “You can leave now.” He opened his

Silence overtook the entire garden. It was a heavy, suffocating silence, the kind that usually precedes a natural disaster. The birds seemed to stop singing; even the wind died down, as if nature itself was holding its breath to witness the carnage."Rebecca, how dare you say such things at a ti

I had spent the last few days trying to settle into the new house in Edinburgh. On the outside, everything looked perfect. The stone walls were strong, the air was fresh, and we were far away from the chaos of London. But inside the house, a different kind of war was starting.I had tried to get to
