My Beta Boyfriend Was The Alpha

For seven years, I thought Declan was just an ordinary Beta.

That was until I secretly traveled a thousand miles to his pack, wanting to surprise him.

Only to find other werewolves calling him Alpha.

And more importantly, he already had a Luna.

The wolves around me started whispering.

“Is that the Alpha’s secret lover?”

“The nerve of her, showing up here… so shameless.”

I wanted to argue, to tell them they had it all wrong. I was his real girlfriend. His Fated Mate.

But then, a woman in a gorgeous dress walked over.

The wolves bowed their heads respectfully. “Luna.”

She was on the phone, her voice a sweet, playful pout. “The blessing ceremony for the heir is about to start, and the Elders are getting antsy… I know you’re busy, but this is our child. You have to be with me.”

The man’s voice on the other end was deep and gentle, a voice I knew better than my own. “I know, my Luna.”

Just a few nights ago, he had whispered loving words into my ear with that same gentle voice, his body moving powerfully inside mine, holding me so tight.

It was my lover, Declan.

I stumbled back. My backpack knocked over a crystal sculpture in the corner.

The sharp crack drew dozens of judging eyes.

The woman ended her call and walked toward me, a gentle smile on her face.

“Oh, dear. Someone’s a little clumsy.”

My eyes were glued to her neck, to the Moon Goddess stone necklace that marked her as the Luna. The glittering gem stung my eyes. I glanced down at her slightly swollen belly.

The heir she’d mentioned.

She was pregnant. With Declan’s child.

Her gaze landed on me, a practiced look of concern on her face. “Are you alright?”

“I…”

“Luna,” the receptionist said, bowing deeply. “She says she's here for the Alpha.”

“Oh?” The woman, Celeste, raised a delicate eyebrow. “You’re a friend of Declan’s?”

I opened my mouth, but my throat was bone dry. Not a single word came out.

She offered me her arm. “Why don’t you wait for him with me in the guest lounge? Declan always gets so tied up in pack business.” Her grip was gentle, but it left no room for refusal.

In the lounge, Celeste had me sit and poured me a cup of herbal tea herself.

“Have you and Declan known each other for a long time?” she asked, sitting gracefully across from me.

“Yes.”

“Then you must know how much he’s sacrificed to secure the Northern Territory.” Celeste sighed softly, resting a hand on her stomach, her face glowing with a mother’s joy. “Thank goodness we have our child now. The pack’s future is finally secure. He can finally breathe.”

The teacup in my hand trembled violently.

Footsteps echoed from the doorway. Several powerful-looking wolves entered, bowing to her. “Luna, waiting for the Alpha again?”

Then Declan strode in.

He looked nothing like the Declan I knew. His face was cold, and he radiated the immense pressure of an Alpha. His expression only softened for a fleeting moment when he looked at Celeste’s belly.

Then he saw me. His face went rigid. “What are you doing here?”

Celeste laughed and threw herself into his arms. “Declan, I've been waiting so long my legs are starting to ache.” She glanced back at me with a smile. “This lady was waiting for you downstairs. She seemed to be in a hurry, so I brought her up. Is she a friend of yours?”

Declan wrapped his arm around her waist naturally, his voice flat. “Just an acquaintance. It’s not important.”

He turned to the Beta assistant beside him. “Kael, get her out of here. We can’t have her disrupting pack business.”

I stared at him in disbelief.

He never looked at me again. He offered no explanation.

As the assistant came to escort me out, Declan was playfully tapping Celeste’s nose.

“Come on, you little troublemaker. Let’s get you to that ceremony.”

Celeste stood on her toes to kiss him. “Declan, you’re the best,” she cooed.

Just as the elevator doors were about to close, Celeste glanced back at me, a fake pout on her lips. “Darling, it’s not very polite to leave your... friend... just standing there.”

Declan didn’t even turn his head.

“She’s barely an acquaintance. Nothing is more important than you and our child.”

The doors slid shut, cutting off his voice.

And crushing the seven years of faith I had in him.
