Catherine’s POV

“You are drop-dead gorgeous, Cathie. Alessandro is so lucky to have you as his fiancée.” Rita cooed, as she stared at me, eyes twinkling in awe.

“Really?” I asked, a mix of curiosity and impatience simmering within me, as my eyes were closed, in order to allow a smooth eye make-up application.

To my utter relief, Zia, the make-up artist and hairstylist, uttered. “You can open your eyes now, ma'am.”

Exhaling heavily, I fluttered my eyes open and beheld my reflection in the dresser mirror.

My best friend was right; I looked absolutely stunning. The makeup had accentuated my features in a perfect manner, that I never thought was possible.

Zia was really good at her craft, and I was more than impressed by her work. And for that, I mentally noted to give her a huge bonus.

I had made it clear to her from the get go that I didn't want something exuberant and ostentatious, and she had duly followed my instructions.
