Chapter 5 Let's Get Divorced

She is standing in front of the courtroom at exactly eight o’clock, she recalls the moment she had come to the same place with Edward to get their marriage certificate. She felt excited at that moment as she had never been, then she recalled her temperament of Edward at the moment. His temperament was serious and it looked like he was only handling business. A weak smile appears on her face and she says to herself,

And I thought, ‘he has always been serious even at happy times. He might be boiling out of happiness on the inside but he doesn’t want anyone to see his excitement.’ Who would have thought I was only convincing myself to believe what wasn’t there. If only I had opened my eyes then, I wouldn’t have had such long years with him.

When she finishes speaking, she sees a man dressed in a black suit with sunglasses on his face and a suitcase in his hand. He looks in her way as soon as her eyes leave him and he starts walking toward her. A few meters from her, a black limousine halts behind them. Another man dressed in a black suit without sunglasses walks towards her from her back. As for her, she is busily immersing in sorrow about her life but her will to get a divorce has dwindled a bit.  The man in sunglasses stops in front of her and speaks,

“Miss, I am here for you. Your brother has been looking everywhere for you. Thankfully there’s news about you on the television otherwise it would have been very difficult to trace your whereabouts.”

She looks behind her thinking he is speaking to someone else but she sees no one and so she stretches her hand towards him and says,

“Hi, my name is Alexia Rivas, how may I be of help to you?”

The man still in sunglasses and blank face bows slightly to her and says,

“Miss Rivas, I am here just for you. Your brother Jonas Rivas just arrived from the States and he has been looking for you.”

She smiles and shakes her head and replies to him,

“You might have come to the wrong person, my brother Jonas died several years back. I have no relative alive, so please leave me alone. I am here for an important issue and I wouldn’t like to be disturbed.”

The man nods his head and stands right behind her, she looks back and sees the one standing beside the limousine and she turns to the one in the glasses and says to him,

“I had already told you, that I don’t know who you are talking about and I am not the one you are looking for.”

The man looks at her and he looks at her hair and questions,

“Miss, why did you dye your hair? The purple color besides your left ear is missing.”

She gasps and looks at him closer and she questions,

“Who are you? Why do you know about that? Doesn’t only my family know about this?”

He nods his head and replies,

“Yes, and that is the reason, I am telling you that your brother whom you seem dead is very much alive. He didn’t die while serving the country as you were told. Rather, even though it is confidential I will tell you that, he was on a private mission. Now, he wants me to take you back home but I will wait for you to finish what you are about to do first.”

She looks on dumbfounded, her eyebrows are raised and she keeps shaking her head. She holds her head and whispers to herself,

“How could this happen? My brother is alive? If he is alive then, I am no longer alone right?”

A big bright smile appears on her face but she shakes her head and says to him,

“I won’t believe you until I see him for myself understood?”

The man nods his head and a little smile creeps into his eyes. She looks at the watch in her hand and sees that it is five minutes to eight-thirty. She starts looking around for Edward but she sees that he still hasn’t arrived at the place. The gates to the courtroom open and the excited couples flow in to get their marriage certificates. She looks at them pitifully and thinks,

‘I hope you never have to go through what I have passed through.’

A minute later, she sees him walking towards her, his car parked in the parking lot. He sees her and sees the guards beside her and the limousine. Then Edward thinks,

‘Why is she standing over there in someone else’s company? Or did she come with them? Who is that young man in the suit beside her? Was she cheating on me with that man? If so, why does she act as a holy Mary threatening me with divorce when she is the cheat?’

He sighs and puts on a spectacle complimenting his black jeans and white shirt and black and white shoes. He looks in their direction but he doesn’t walk toward them but goes ahead straight to the office. Her gaze follows him until he is about to reach the room that she starts rushing to the place. Edward looks back at her and he thinks,

‘For a moment, I thought she was regretting her actions. She’s just a wicked woman let’s get this done with.’

Alexia reaches him and she smiles in his way and says to him,

“Let’s hurry with this, I have to go somewhere.”

Then she leaves him at the door when she gets to the middle of the room and doesn’t see him by her side, she looks back at him and sees him watching her. Alexia frowns and shouts in his way,

“Edward Frank, let’s get divorced.”

Edward comes out of his thoughts and he sees everyone gawking at them. He shakes his head and thinks,

‘What the hell is wrong with me? Oh, maybe it’s because she is enthusiastic about divorcing me as she was when we were getting married.’
