Bryon was pulling strings that were far tighter than I thought was within his range. Everything was spinning, and my heart thudded in my chest like a drum.

There was so much I wanted to do, like smash my phone into the wall, but none of that was going to help me in any way. I pit my temper on a leash - with great difficulty, might I add - and clicked to receive the incoming call.

"I see you've received my present. What do you think about it?" He sounded so smug it made me grate my teeth in annoyance.

No response came from me. Instead, I held the phone to my ear and listened as he snickered into the receiver.

"Oh, come on, brother. Don't be like that. We both know silence isn't going to help us any."

Again, no response came from me. This time, his voice was cold, filled with a venom that was obviously deadly.

"Who do you want to die first?"

"Is that a threat?" I asked, my voice so calm you wouldn't believe I was on the edge of an emotional storm.
