Callum’s Pov

There was a thin line between anger and lust. So, the word goes, right? I knew what I must do, but each second that I stared at the picture before me, I couldn’t stop thinking about that night. The way her body had writhed under me. The way she had moaned my name, begging me for more.

“Fuck!” I hissed, tossing the paper to the side. Everything that I needed to know about Wren was on a freaking A4 page. And yet, there was nothing that said anything about how addicting she would become.

Richard was still in fucking hiding or dead. That scum better be dead, because it would be easier to die than face the wrath that I was feeling. And Patricia? The woman who had left her children, I couldn’t help but laugh at the fact that she had first come to me to beg, slowly working herself to being my fiancée and when she had the opportunity, she played right into my hand.

Just where I needed her.

“Anything?” I grunted to my secretary as she walked into the office.

Her smile brightened, “The call line has been inactive, I am sorry she hasn’t reached out yet.” I gritted my teeth, keeping my mood in check. “If I may ask, who is she? Maybe I can send someone from our team to try and poach her….”

“You will only work as I have ordered!” I barked, my tone causing her to flinch.

“I am sorry Mr Blackwood,” she bowed.

I hummed, flicking my wrist signalling for her to leave.

Just as she walked out, the door opened again, this time it was Mark who walked in. “Still being arrogant to your staff?” he asked.

“Still being a pain?” I hissed.

He barked out a loud laugh, walking to the wine bar in the corner of the room as he poured himself a glass.

“When did my office become a bar?” I hissed, accepting the glass that he offered.

He shrugged, “Well, you have nice drinks and I thought I should help myself.”

I grunted, but said nothing. Mark was my best friend and lawyer and well, the only person that I could stand. “How is it going? Gotten the money back?” he asked.

“Well, given the life that they live, I don’t think she will be able to afford 50 million dollars.”

He swallowed his drink, coughing as he stared at me, “You didn’t…”

I smirked, “ I did…”

“Patricia didn’t take up to that, and you know it…” he gave me a pointed glare.

I gritted my teeth at the mention of the name. “She didn’t, but her father? Maybe I am adding a little bit of emotional damage into the charge.”

He barked out a laugh, “Emotional damage? Are you sure you know what that is? Only people with soul know it.”

I gritted my teeth, “What do you want Mark? Other than drinking my whiskey and talking shit,” I grumbled. I fucking hate this guy.

Maybe he read my mind, he grinned, “You do know you don’t hate me, right?”

I cocked my brows. “You have that look, the one that tells me you freaking hate me…” he laughed. “I found something that might interest you,” he said, pulling his phone from his pocket.

“Hello?”

“Repeat what you told me an hour ago,” he ordered.

“The lady, the one you told me to watch out for, a Wren Anderson…”

“Get to the point Kinston.” He snapped. And he said I had no patience.

Kinston cleared his throat, “Right, sorry,” he muttered. “Wren is trying to get a job…” My interest was piqued. “She has been handing out applications to every company, going as low as asking for a cleaner role.”

I almost laughed at the words I had heard; she had great qualifications but was asking for a cleaner role?

“That will be all Kinston, keep up the good job.” He ended the call.

“Your girl is a fighter,” he said, turning attention to me.

I smirked, “No one should accept…”

“Already ahead of you, sent a memo to all companies, they know better than to go against us.”

“Good.” An idea popped into m mind. “Keep one company open,” I pressed the line, calling for Blake to return.

“Mr Blackwood?” She walked into the office, her eager eyes staring back at me.

“I want you to send this name to hunt ventures, when they apply, I need them to be transferred here, to the main office.” I gave her the paper with the name. “Blake, this is important, if you value your job, you make it work.”

The door shut behind her, I could feel Mark’s stare at the back of my head, “Do I want to know what you have up your sleeves?”

“She isn’t going to come to me willingly, I guess I have to make it easy for her.”

He laughed, shaking his head as he stared at me, “I don’t know if I should be worried or impressed.”

“You can be both.”

“What do you need me to do?” he asked.

“I need you to draft a new contract.”

“What do you have in mind?”

I couldn’t help the grin that formed on my face, What did I have in mind? “Bind her to me, my name, she can’t leave until the debt is paid, or maybe I let her go.” I took one last sip, “Every breath in her lungs belongs to me.”

He stared at me with a questioning look on his face, “Are you going to ever let her go?”

I didn’t have an answer for that. For one, she had to pay for the sins her father had committed, and then, she had to pay for the sins her body had committed.

“Time will tell.”

He dropped the glass, “I guess it is time to do the devil’s work, I will send it to you in a few hours,” he was gone, shutting the door behind him.

I dragged the laptop closer to me, my eyes on the screen, a video I couldn’t stop looking at. Her head thrown back; mouth wide as she screamed out her orgasm. She looked so innocent, too vulnerable, and to preserve it, I had bought the hotel, making sure that I was the only one who had the video.

I felt the stir, my arousal that hadn’t stopped from the moment that I had her lips on me. I needed to have a taste of her again, and it had to be fucking fast. I palmed my hardened cock, letting out a low groan, “Soon, princess, I will have you writhing under me.”

Wren’s Pov No one wants me. Maybe there was someone out there who had hexed the name Wren Anderson, because the minute anyone sees the name, they all have the same expression; a blanched look, before they say the same line that I have heard more times than I should.“We are sorry, we can’t hire you.”Seven companies, same story, same expression. It felt like my name was blacklisted. “This is going to be better; I promise you,” Anna’s voice echoed through the phone. I could tell she was trying so hard to encourage me, but I had lost hope in everything.“We said the same thing three jobs back and yet we are still searching.” She hummed, sounded distracted, “yes…yes,” her voice interrupted by the sound of kissing and her giggling.“Anna?” I frowned, wondering if she had company. “Are you busy or…” She cleared her throat, I heard a groan, an obvious sound that didn’t belong to her. Wren’s Pov“Anna….Mom…debt five million—”No matter how much I tried I couldn’t seem to get the words out. Sobs kept ripping through me, turning my sentences into short and meaningless phrases. I was curled on the floor of our tiny living room, phone pressed to my ear like a lifeline as I waited for her to reply. “Wren, breathe,” Anna said, her voice laced with worry. “Just breathe, okay? Calm down. Meet me at The Roasted Bean in twenty minutes. I’m already heading there.” I managed a shaky “okay” before she hung up. Without thinking I threw on one of the first clothes I could lay my hand on and by the time I dragged myself into The Roasted Bean, I probably looked like a wreck. I had avoided every mirror but I didn’t need any to tell me my eyes were swollen or that my hair was a tangled mess from running my hands through it. Even my clothes were all mismatched. I pushed the door open and every wa

Wren's POVThe words echoed in my head, and all I could do was stare at him like a deer in headlights. This had to be some stupid joke.“Five million dollars, Wren.” He said it in such a calm, conventional tone, but it still hit my chest like a bullet. My knees almost gave out right there in our cramped living room. The number was so absurd, so impossibly huge, that for several long seconds my brain refused to process it.Unable to process thoughts, I simply stared at him. Callum looked nothing like the kind of man who should be standing in our shitty apartment with peeling wallpaper and second-hand furniture. He was way taller than me about six feet three in a black suit that was obviously custom-made. His dark hair was styled with ruthless precision not one strand out of place.Power and wealth radiated from him like heat from an open flame and I looked away hoping to catch my breath. Why would Mom ever borrow from someone like him? He didn’t look like a regular banker. From the w

Wren’s POVI woke up alone, feeling utterly and totally satisfied. Yet for whatever reason, I couldn’t recall why. After taking a shower, I noticed some bruising on my thighs, and a hickey on my neck. Some of last night's memories came rushing in. A man with his face between my thighs. Touching me, doing things to me.“Josh was here?!” I gasped, filled with part glee because he came back, and part horror because I couldn’t remember. This is why I don’t drink.I quickly got dressed in my clothes from the night, even though I couldn’t find my panties. I took my phone and called Josh, excitement making me nearly drop my phone.“What?” He snapped after three rings.“You came for me!” I cried out. “Why did you leave so soon? We could have gone home together.”A soft, feminine voice called from the background. “Babe! Come back to bed!”My heart tanked and my smile vanished.“Don’t call me again. And stop spewing rubbish about me. We’re done, Wren. Get a fucking hint.” He hung up before I

Wren’s POVI woke up slowly, everything all around me soft and a mess of blurs and shapes from all the alcohol I’d drunk. Saying I felt like utter shit would be a severe understatement but he was right here.Josh.My Josh. He came for me.I didn’t guess for one second that he’d hunt me down to this fancy ball.My head felt all fuzzy like my brain had turned to a mush of cotton wool. But I felt warm too, my body like I was floating in a dream. The bright light hurt my eyes and I squinted, but I saw him.Tall, strong, his shoulders broader than I recall. Did he start working out? Fuck he looks hot.My emotions got the better of me and I kissed him.The kiss started slow and sweet. But then he made a deep growl sound in his chest that I’d never heard before. He grabbed my face, his big and rough hands cupping my face. His fingers slid into my hair, gathered a fist full of my locks and yanked back.I moaned, my eyes fluttering shut as heat pooled between my legs. Fuck. When did Josh get
