Callum's Pov

Fuck, that was all that my brain could come up with. She looked stunning in the beige skirt that looked like a freaking second skin; all that I wanted to do was have her bent over the table as I took her in ways we couldn't deny.

But I knew I wouldn't be able to achieve that, not with the fire that I was seeing in her eyes, the flame that has been keeping me alive for way too long.

“Sit, we should get over the details of your job description,” I said, trying to keep my excitement at bay.

She blinked, as if she was slowly waking from the trance. “I am not working for you,” her voice was low as she looked at me with a burning glare in her eyes.

I cocked my brows, stuffing my hands in my pockets as I watched her. I didn't miss the way her eyes trailed down my body, stopping right on the half-bulging mass that tented my trousers.

“Where will you be working?” I asked in a low tone.

She looked back at where Mark had sat; anger surged through me, but I kept my expression cool. “he... he hired me...”

“Mark works for the company; he was sitting in for me,” I said.

Her eyes flicked to me; I could see that realisation as she understood what was happening. “I quit!”

The corner of my lips tugged; was I expecting this from her? Of course, I was; it wouldn't be Wren if she didn't say she was going to quit. I had been expecting those words for a minute now.

“You can't,” I said in a low tone.

She blinked. “W-what?”

“You signed a contract; you can't leave, at least not for the next twenty years.”

She stared at me as if she was about to pass out. I grounded myself, knowing that she wouldn't want me to touch her. Not yet anyway.

“What do you mean I signed twenty years of my life for...”

“The contract, you signed it, didn't you? That means you must have read it.”

Tears lined the walls of her eyes; I hated that she felt his way, but for now, this was the only way that I could keep her here. If she had her way, she would freaking run through that door screaming murderer.

“You...” Her voice broke. “You tricked me,” she whispered, staring at me with a disappointed look on her face.

That look felt like a freaking spear to my chest. But I wasn't going to let her see how much control she had over me.

“Sit, we have a lot to talk about.” I moved to the other side of the desk; I needed something between us, something to hold me back from claiming her.

“Ms. Anderson, sit,” I said in a firm tone, watching the way her body snapped to the command. My fist tightened under the table as I watched her settle on the chair, her eyes on me. “Good girl,” I muttered under my breath.

Her nose flared, her cheeks flushed; I knew she had heard me, but chose to ignore my words.

“Why do you want me here?” She asked.

“What do you think?” I asked in a low tone.

Her eyes hardened. “If you think that I am going to be your sex slave, then you would know that I am doing nothing like that.”

I chuckled. “Your family owes me a lot of money, and I guess you are going to work for it.”

For a split second, I saw that look: anger, pain, hurt. But she quickly schooled her expression. “What is my job description?” she asked in a defeated tone.

For a minute, I thought she was kidding, that she was going to haul the freaking clock on the table to me. But she didn’t do that. Just sat there with a broken look on her face.

“You are my personal assistant, and that means my time is your time. You are going to do everything you can to make sure that you make my work easy.”

“And if I don't work according to your rules, what is going to happen?” She asked, a glint shining in her eyes.

“If you refuse to do your job right, there will be consequences,” I said in a low tone.

She swallowed, her eyes taking in my form, before they flicked back to my face. “What consequences?” Her tone was breathy.

I gritted my teeth; she had no idea what she was doing. I cleared my throat. “Ms. Wren,” her eyes were on me. “I will have Blake show you around the office. You can ask questions and use two days to get yourself familiar with the office.”

I was giving her more than anyone would.

“Will the contract be broken?” she asked.

“If only you show up to be a nuisance in the company.”

She grinned; I could see her already plotting in her mind. “If I break the rules, will I be let off?” She leaned closer to the table.

Predictable, so predictable.

“What are you planning, little minx?”

She smirked. “Nothing, just trying to be sure that I know what I am doing.”

“If you are thinking of getting fired, you have to think harder, i wont.”

She stood to her feet. “We will see about that, Mr. Blackwood.”

I buzzed Blake in. “Blake, you will show Ms. Wren around the office; she is our newest addition.”

“But Mr. Black...”

“Deal with it, Blake.”

“If I may ask, what is her role? We haven't...”

“She is my personal assistant.”

“What?” Blake hissed; her eyes wide in shock. She coughed, schooling her expression. “I mean, I didn’t know you needed that; I thought I was the personal...”

“You are my secretary, Blake. If I have to remind you of your position, then I think it is safe to have someone new on board.”

She let out a low chuckle. “Right, sorry about that, sire.” She looked at Wren, smiling softly at her. “Come on, we have a lot to see.” The door closed behind them. I let go of the smile I had been holding back. She was here.

Mine to own.

Wren's PovI looked like I had been run over by a freaking train. I had spent the whole night unhealthily thinking about what it would have been like if Callum had kissed me. And then there had been a side of me that had been angry that I was thinking about him kissing me when I could just have anyone but him.‘But we don’t want him. Do we?’ my mind taunted. I rolled my eyes, ignoring the thought in my head, forcing my attention on making sure that I lined my eyes with enough eyeliner to hide the fact that I was trying to hide my swollen eyes.“Good morning, Wren.” I bit back a groan when I pushed the door open; Mr. Brian was already leaning against his door, his eyes on me with that smile that always sends chills down my spine.“Mr. Brian. Good morning.” I smiled at him.His eyes took in my form, that twisted smile still on his lips. “You know, you don’t have to call me Mr. Brian; we are neighbours. We can be friends, don’t you think so?” he wink

Wren’s PovI didn’t bother returning to the office after the showdown that I had with Callum and Taryn. Whatever that was, I didn’t want to be anywhere near it.That fire wasn’t something that I needed. I already have enough smoke going on around me; I didn’t want to add rich, pompous men to my list of sorrows. There was a knock on the door. For a minute I thought it was Anna, but I quickly checked myself. Anna wouldn’t knock; she would let herself in, while singing in her loudest chipmunk voice. I let out a sigh; I missed my friend; for days now, it felt like we had been on some distant friendship band. The knock sounded louder. “I am coming!” I groaned, dropping the tray of mac and cheese I was about to throw into the microwave. I pushed the door open, already regretting that I didn’t look through the peephole. I wasn’t ready to deal with Mr. Brian, the neighbor who stared at me as if he were undressing me.“Mr. Callum?” I stared at the figure s

Callum's PovI stared at Taryn, thinking of the best ways that fucking rip his head off his shoulders. But I knew that I couldn’t do that. Mark would blow a fuse if he heard that I had attacked Taryn. And truthfully, I wasn’t in the mood to listen to him give me lectures on how to treat people. “What are you doing here, Taryn?” I asked, trying to keep my anger at bay.He grinned, his eyes looking around the office. “You know, I miss having these...”“Taryn, I am sure you didn’t drive all the way from your office to mine, just to tell me you miss me?” I snapped, my patience already wearing thin.He laughed. “Are you always this cynical?” he asked.I balled my fists under the table, keeping my breath at an even pace, anything to stop thinking about having to punch the smug bastard in front of me. He cleared his throat, smirking at me as if he heard my thought. “Okay. I need a favour from you.”I cocked my brows; Taryn needed my help? That was something I didn’t see coming. “What d

Wren's PovONE WEEK LATER“So how is it going?” Anna’s voice echoed through the phone. It's been three days since I last heard from her. I knew life was getting busy for everyone, but it felt like I had seen more of her when I was dating Josh than now.“Nothing daunting. Just work and barely any time to relax.” I muttered, pressing the coffee machine as I waited to get my early dose of coffee. Things weren’t as horrible as I thought they would be; everyone had their mind on the jobs. Well, mostly everyone. Blake had made it a point of duty always to point out things that I may have missed, no matter how tiny they are.“How is the man? I saw his picture; he is something, don’t you think so?” she whispered. I rolled my eyes; of course she would think that; she wasn’t the one working under him. “Maybe you can try to...”“Anna, I am here to work, nothing more than that. Elizabeth needs everything that she can get from me.”She let out a huff. “I

Wren's PovBlake walked in front of me; there was something about the way she would look over my shoulder, as if she was making sure that I followed.“You are lucky, you know that?” She smiled, but it wasn’t that polite kind of smile. It was the smile I had seen a thousand times with girls who never liked me.“A lot of people have tried, but no one has gotten mr blackwood’s attention until now.” Her eyes scanned me from head to toe, her lips curled in a sneer. “How did you do it?”“I didn’t do anything,” I said in a low tone. She rolled her eyes, waving her hand. “You don’t have to play coy. You can tell me, i want to know how you got the mighty Callum Blackwood to look at you.”Anger surged through me, i hated how she made it sound like this was something that I wanted. “I didn’t do anything, i saw a job vacancy and I applied.”She hummed. “Okay, if you don’t want to tell, I understand. We have to keep our tricks to ourselves.” She walked into a large office space, i could see

Wren’s POVI woke up alone, feeling utterly and totally satisfied. Yet for whatever reason, I couldn’t recall why. After taking a shower, I noticed some bruising on my thighs, and a hickey on my neck. Some of last night's memories came rushing in.
