I walked up to Damon's study, wondering why he wanted me to go there. I opened the door with care, peeking in. A boring office met me, a big desk sat in the corner and bookcases lined one off the walls. The whole Friday I was a bundle of nerves and the time seemed to move twice as fast. I drove away from the house with guilt eating me up. I wasn't sorry at first, I just wanted Tris to be safe. I couldn't bring her there, to the nest of the vipers. But seeing how angry she got, I did feel guilty. I didn't want to use compulsion on her. There was nothing I would rather have done than stay at the house with her but I couldn't do that.
