Lillian's POV

I hadn’t slept properly in days. Every time I closed my eyes, that picture flashed behind my eyelids… Adrian and Isabelle, arms locked, faces bright and stupidly in love.

I should have told Diana the moment I saw it, but I didn’t.

Maybe because some part of me didn’t want it to be true. Maybe because I didn’t want Diana’s blunt honesty to slap sense into me. Or maybe… maybe because I needed to hear the truth from Adrian himself.

I watched him closely after that. Every time he hovered over my desk, stood too close during meetings, or cracked one of those charming smirks that used to fluster me, I felt my stomach twist.

I wasn’t flustered anymore. I was suspicious.

Finally, three days after I found the photo, I couldn’t hold it in. The tension was making it hard to breathe.

I waited until everyone had left for the day. The office lights were dimmed. Adrian was in his office, jacket off, sleeves rolled, a tumbler of whiskey in hand. He looked surprised when I walked in.

Lillian's POVI hadn’t spoken to Nathaniel since I found out the truth about Adrian and Isabelle.I couldn’t.My mind was already trying to stitch together how I had once again ended up in someone else’s revenge arc… except this time, I saw the pattern before it could consume me.But I hadn’t walked away yet.Maybe a part of me wanted to believe Adrian meant well. That maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t using me… or maybe I didn’t want to admit I had allowed myself to fall into this mess. Again.I was reviewing a strategy proposal on my tablet when my phone rang.My first instinct was to ignore it, but something tugged at me. I answered. "Hello?""Hey, Lillian. It’s Luca."I sat up straighter. "Luca. I know.""Yeah, yeah. Don’t kill me, Nathaniel already knows I stole your number. He already threatened to kill me too." He chuckled lightly, but his tone quickly turned sober. “Listen, I’m calling for a reason.”"Okay...""You know me, I joke around, but not this time. I’ve seen Adrian Black i

  • My Boss Will Stop At Nothing To Have Me    Chapter 64

Nathaniel's POVThe morning headlines hit like a brick.“Billionaire Heir, Adrian Black Clash at Gala: Over a Woman?”“Nathaniel Caldwell’s Public Meltdown: Lillian Grey at the Center”I stared at the screen, jaw clenched so tight my teeth ached. The photo… God, the photo… was one of those perfectly timed shots where everyone’s expressions told a story. Lillian standing between us like she was mediating two damn alphas at war. Adrian smirking like he owned the world. Me, looking like I was one second from tearing his throat out.I slammed the tablet face down onto the table.“This is what you call professionalism?” my father barked from across the dining table. “You think throwing tantrums in tuxedos is how you represent the Caldwell name?”He had barged into my penthouse uninvited, as usual. No knock, no heads-up. Just stormed in like he still owned me along with the company.I dragged a hand through my hair, forcing calm into my voice. “Morning to you too, Dad.”“Don’t patronize me.

  • My Boss Will Stop At Nothing To Have Me    Chapter 63

Lillian's POVMonday came fast like a train. My nerves buzzed with adrenaline as I stepped into the glass-walled headquarters of Blackstone Industries… Adrian Black’s empire of bold ideas, experimental tech, and luxury-stained ambition. It looked exactly like what you would expect from a man who didn’t play small. Everything gleamed: the floors, the crystal pendant lights, even the air felt cured.Reception ushered me in without hesitation."Mr. Black is expecting you," the assistant said with a knowing smile that made me slightly uncomfortable. I smiled back anyway.I adjusted my blazer and reminded myself who I was… Lillian, finance wizard, ex-executive assistant to one of the most powerful men in the city, and now the soon-to-be brain behind Blackstone's next big expansion.Adrian's office was the top floor. Of course it was.I took the private elevator, my reflection bouncing off the polished steel. When the doors opened, I was met with floor-to-ceiling windows, an indoor garden w

Lillian's POVThe screen of my phone was still glowing as I stared at the mountain of notifications. My inbox looked like it had been in a bar fight, messy, chaotic, and a little bruised.Twenty-one unread texts.Four missed calls from Adrian.Three from Nathaniel. And one unknown number blinking at me with a smug little “1” beside it like a mystery wrapped in drama.Naturally, I clicked the unknown number first. The moment I opened the thread, it was like a tidal wave of text crashed onto the screen. Paragraph after paragraph, apology after apology, and sprinkled in-between? Sarcastic, brutally honest humor that could only belong to one person.Luca.“Hey, um… so… hi. Before you block me, just hear me out. Yes, I stole your number from Nathaniel’s phone. Yes, I realize how completely insane and morally questionable that is. Yes, I might have been slightly… okay, significantly… under the influence of whiskey when I decided it was a good idea. No, I am not a stalker. But in my defense,

  • My Boss Will Stop At Nothing To Have Me    Chapter 61

Lillian's POVI didn’t realize how tense my shoulders were until I finally walked out of that pretentious ballroom. The moment the cold air hit my face, I sucked in a deep breath and let it out in one long, slow exhale. I could still hear the low sound of music from inside, the clinking of champagne flutes and the occasional fake laugh drifting through the air.My heels clicked angrily against the pavement as I made my way toward the valet stand. The urge to rip off these damn shoes and scream was strong. What the hell was that back there? Two grown men.. two powerful, influential men… acting like hormonal high schoolers, circling each other like dogs marking territory. And apparently, I was the damn territory.“Lillian!” a voice called out before I reached the curb.I stopped, sighed, and turned to see Luca jogging after me. His tie was loose around his neck, the top buttons of his shirt undone. He didn’t look like the man who usually cracked jokes and danced like a fool at Diana’s c
