Chapter 2

My pack and the Northern Pack had been allies for generations. From the moment Dylan and I were born, our futures were already tied together.

Especially after he saved me from a group of rogue wolves, I was completely drawn and fell for him.

My parents wanted us to build feelings naturally, so they arranged for me to stay by Dylan’s side.

That was how I left my home and traveled all the way to the Northern Pack.

He was the Alpha’s heir, and I was the future Luna. From the very first day I arrived, I devoted myself to helping him manage the pack.

We were the model of love in the entire Pack. Our relationship couldn’t possibly crumble over my own doubts.

Someone tapped my shoulder, snapping me back to reality.

“Florence.”

Leah twirled before me in her beautiful dress.

“Florence, do you think this looks good on me?”

I didn’t know where she had found that dress. The mermaid skirt swept the floor, covered in sparkling crystals. It looked more extravagant than my gown.

I stared at my sister and couldn’t help but ask, “Leah, are you seeing someone?”

Since I wasn’t sure, I didn’t mention Dylan and kept my tone cautious.

“It is a big deal. Please be careful…”

I wanted to warn her that the werewolf she was involved with didn’t seem like a good one. However, before I could say more, her expression suddenly darkened.

“Florence, are you denying my relationship?”

I froze, stunned, and she pressed on.

“Florence, you’ve always been the apple of Mom and Dad’s eye. Growing up, you always had the best of everything.

“And while, yes, I was adopted, you can’t just stand in the way of my happiness.”

Panic shot through me. “No, that’s not it. I’ve always treated you like my real sister—”

“You just can’t stand to see me happy!” She cut me off sharply.

“If I’d known you were like this, I never would’ve traveled all this way to help prepare for your bonding ceremony.”

Leah tore off the dress, grabbed it, and stormed out.

I rushed after her. “Leah! That’s not what I meant!”

Once I stepped outside the mall, the busy street was filled with werewolves. Leah disappeared into the crowd in seconds.

Thinking about the suspicious phone call, I was concerned she might be involved with the wrong kind of werewolf.

I was also worried she might really cut me off. Even though she was adopted, she had been the closest one to me for so many years.

Just then, I spotted her getting into a cab. I grabbed my car keys and followed immediately.

The cab stopped in front of a hotel. Leah got out, and just as I was about to open my own door, my breath hitched.

Dylan, who was supposed to be negotiating with another pack, was standing right outside the hotel.

The moment they saw each other, the two of them embraced each other tightly and kissed passionately in public.

They kissed for five whole minutes while I stood frozen for those same five minutes.

I couldn’t believe it.

Dylan was with my sister.

My fingers trembled on the steering wheel as I watched the two of them cling to each other like glue.

Then I saw Dylan wrap the scarf I had spent a week knitting for him around Leah’s neck. He gazed tenderly at her.

“Why’d you come out wearing so little?”

Leah laughed. “I had to escape from Florence. You know how clingy she is. If I hadn’t thrown a tantrum and run out, you wouldn’t get to see me tonight.”

A sharp, stabbing pain tore through my chest so badly that I could barely breathe.

I watched my mate-to-be and my dearest sister kiss right in front of me.

Dylan ruffled her hair indulgently. “Smart girl.”
