Chapter 2

"What are you going to do now?" Klode asked Sunny while she was fixing her things and the documents that contain Havoc's information. She slides the envelope inside her bag.

"What do you mean?"

"About your sessions. What kind of counseling are you going to do? That should be extraordinary since he's one of a stubborn patient." she stopped when she heard what he said. She frowned and looked directly into his eyes. She doesn't understand why he needs to ask those questions when in fact, he does not have the right to ask things about her counseling with Havoc.

"I believe it's none of your business, Klode. You're a detective and I'm a psychiatrist. We have different jobs and tasks regarding this case." she was ready to leave when Klode suddenly grabbed her by the wrist.

"It is my business. Just in case you forgot that I'm the detective of this case. This isn't just about normal counseling, Sunny. You need to report every detail to me, his improvements and progress. I'm handling this case, too, and that gives me the right to meddle with your business." she glared at him. He doesn't change. He's still the same asshole who wants to do things his way. He's still the same jerk who wants to win every argument.

"Then be a detective. Wait until I give you the details if ever there would be some improvements. But don't meddle with how I would run my counseling. Learn your limits, Mr. Pineda." she saw his expression soften. She removed his grasp on her wrist and rolled her eyes at him before leaving his office. She immediately calls a taxi and went home. I haven't met my patient but I'm already tired.

"SIR, MR. LUCAS is here."

He signaled her to leave them alone. His secretary bowed and left his office. Lucas, the private investigator sat across his table and hands him the brown envelope.

Havoc opens it and saw information about his new psychiatrist, Sunshine Claire Mendoza. Actually, he has bits of knowledge about her already but he wants to dig deeper. Why did she accept my case? I wonder how much money my father bribed her?

"Based on what her peer said, she's one of the best psychiatrists in their work," Lucas said while he was scanning the papers.

One photo caught his attention. I know this guy. Why do they have a photo together? He raised the picture and showed it to Lucas.

"Detective Pineda was her boyfriend. They broke up years ago." he nodded and signaled him to leave. A small grim appears on his lips. Unbelievable. So they are trying to do my case together. Looks like an old romance movie.

SHE HEAVED a deep sigh when she reached the condominium where Mr. Montemayor is staying. She discovered that this place is owned by his new patient. Wow, he's that rich! 30th floor. When she entered the said floor, she was welcomed by a woman, maybe five or seven years older than her. She must be Ms. Ashley, Mr. Havoc Montemayor's secretary.

"Good morning, Miss Sunshine! My name's Ashley, Mr. Montemayor's secretary." so she was right. The woman extended her hand for a handshake which she happily took. She's so pretty, I must say. After the introduction, she guided her to go into his office. Havoc is occupying the whole floor which serves as his office, house, and entertainment room. I heard that he rarely goes out unless it's urgent and important.

"I will mostly be outside since I'm his representative when it comes to business meetings. I heard you had a quick briefing with the previous psychiatrist about his condition. And maybe you already know what are the things that he likes and hates." she nodded and stopped in front of a door where his office is located.

Ashley handed her a piece of paper. "This is Mr. Montemayor's schedule. It can still change depending on him. He stays here often more than in his own room. He rarely goes out of this condo so as much as possible, conduct your counseling here in his office. Is that okay with you?"

"Y-yeah." she has an intimidating aura, she thought. The way she moves and handles everything shows how long she has been working as his secretary.

Sunny followed Ashley inside the office and let her sit on the couch. She had time to look around. It's very dark. The windows are closed, and there are even black curtains blocking the light from the outside. Everything about the interior design screams loneliness. It's indeed true that he's living his life like a vampire. Contrary to her name, the place she's in has no even an ounce of sunlight passing through.

"I know you've been wondering about his surroundings. And I know that you know the reason why. Yes, he hates brightness because you see, he has a dark past." she nodded and stand up to go around the office. "Can you wait a little bit? I'll just call Mr. Montemayor." Ashley went outside. Sunny looks at the painting hanging just behind his table.

She was startled when she heard the door open and Havoc Montemayor comes in. The picture doesn't justify how good-looking he is in person. He has this dark aura partnered with his emotionless face. Contrary to how formal she imagined him to be, right at this moment, he's just wearing a simple black shirt, pair of jeans, and white sneakers.

The guy goes straight to the table and sits on the chair. He's looking at the papers in front of him and just a few seconds later, he's now rubbing his temple in frustration.

"Eherm." she tried to grab his attention but to no avail. His unconscious gesture tells that he's uncomfortable seeing a stranger. "I'll introduce myself. My name is Sunny Mendoza---" she was startled when he suddenly hits the wooden table and glared at her.

Havoc then gets the envelope and throws it near her side. She saw him get a bond paper and a marker and then start to write on it.

"I did a background check on you! You don't need to introduce yourself. Let's not waste any time here. You may now proceed with your counseling."

Sunny looks at what's inside the envelope. All the information about her has clearly stated even her last relationship with Klode. She's angry but she does not let him know it.

"It may be useless for you but I think it's rude if I will not introduce myself properly. It's what we called manners, sir. I'm Dra. Sunshine Claire Mendoza, your new psychiatrist."

Suit yourself, Sunny. Be brave. Don't ever let him see how nervous and anxious you are right now.

The side of Havoc's lips twitched. He grinned and stood straight then looked directly at her eyes. He signaled her to sit on the couch. He then grabbed his phone and type a message.

Sunny felt the vibration in her pocket.

"You introduced yourself properly. Now, do your work as my new psychiatrist and proceed with your counseling. Don't waste any amount that I'm paying you" her heart tightened at what he said on the text message.

"I know that you're paying for my services, and I'll make sure that every penny will be worth it." she raised her eyebrows when she saw him lying down on the other couch near the window. "Wait, why are you lying down?" she curiously asked.

He frowned. He grabs his phone and sent her a message. "This is how I usually do during counseling. Why, do you have a problem with that?"

"With your previous counseling, yes you could do that but not with mine. Sit up straight and look at me."

His jaw clenched. By the looks of his reaction, she's sure that this guy does not want anyone to challenge him. So far, she sees him as an intimidating, stubborn, arrogant, and impatient person. But then this may have been his mask against reality. It is obvious that Havoc's hiding in the world.

"What do you mean?"

"It has been years, Mr. Montemayor and there has not been any progress and nor improvements with your case because you don't properly cooperate with your previous psychiatrist. As I have said, I'll make every penny that you paid me worth it. It's not right for you to drown in guilt when in fact it's been too long since the incident happened. You're not the reason why Anna died." she smiled when she saw his dark expression. He's not expecting her to challenge him like this. "Why, Mr. Montemayor, are you afraid that this might be out of your comfort zone?"

The text messages continuously arrived. Truth be told, she's not planning any special counseling with Havoc. She just wants him to feel mad until he voices out what he truly feels. But then that method is very dangerous for her. It's clearly stated in his medical record that it's forbidden to make Havoc feel angry. Messing with his temper is like playing with fire; you'll get easily burned. But she still needs to try.

"Are you not afraid of me?"

"Do you not care about your safety?"

"There are only two of us inside this room and even if you scream so loud, no one will hear you!"

"If you push my temper, I will not be responsible for what will happen to you because of my condition!"

"Don't get too far just because you want me to speak. You wouldn't like it if I let you see the monster side of me."

Instead of being afraid, Sunny gets happy because of his response. If she continues to provoke him, she might get a response and progress soon. He's responding to her session unconsciously. If she continues provoking him, he will eventually speak. She knows that this is a very dangerous path to take but this is the only way that she has. She has been reading the counseling procedure of his previous psychiatrists who did light, moderate, to intense counseling but not once they succeeded in making even a slight improvement. Provocation is the only path that she can see for him to respond.

Sunny knows that Havoc will eventually open up about his true feelings because as of this moment, the moment she saw him for the first time, he has many layers that he's been hiding which she wants to unfold one by one.

I can't wait for that time to happen.

"Do you think I'm scared of you? Is this your defense mechanism, Mr. Montemayor? Scaring your psychiatrist just because you want them gone of your sight. Well, think again, because I would never quit." she said and grinned at him, even though her insides are shaking a bit.

After that, she looks around his office again. The big dark curtains caught her attention. At this time of the day, the sun is at its peak but because of those big curtains hanging on his window, the sunlight barely touches the ground of the insides. She walked towards the window and attempted to part the curtains when a strong grip on her arms stopped her and Sunny found herself pinned on the wall. She can see her own reflection on his dark and scary eyes. It's just like seeing her reflection in the eyes of the murderer. She's scared but she does her best to hide it

"Bitch!" He spats on her face. She never heard his voice but his rage reaches to the depth of her bones.
