Ash POV"We are here," Damien says. The car barely stops when he throws the passenger door open. I try to open my door but Damien beats me to it. Caspian comes out of the other side just as I step out of the car.I swing my legs out of the car and my feet hit gravel, making a loud crunchy sound as I stand on my feet. I instinctively look at my feet to see ash pebbles littered all around, if I were not more curious about the rest of the surroundings I would have picked one.The car stops in the middle of a huge compound. The house we are in front of is bigger than I expected. I can tell immediately that this is the pack house as it is bigger than the rest.It isn't nearly as big as the pack house in Grand Crescent, the main house where I lived but it is better than I assumed. The house is a two-story building. There are two smaller houses on the sides of the house and before we stopped, I saw other houses scattered around on the way here. We were already in Rogue Pack's territory at t
Ash POVI wipe the sweat off my face, I can't comprehend why it is so hot. I am not even doing anything that strenuous, all I am doing is putting clothes in the wardrobe.I sit on the bed with a loud sigh, the ceiling fan is the only source of ventilation. I tried to open the windows but they must be sealed shut because no matter how hard I try to open them, they don't budge.I can't work in this condition, I am likely to end up unnecessarily exhausted from such simple tasks if I am not careful. My only option is to ask for help.I wince at the thought of this, it is bad enough that I have to leave the room but there is also the fact that I don't know exactly where Caspian is. I do know his room is next door but if he isn't there, then what else am I going to do?I frown as a thought pops into my head. I can mind-link with him. We have had enough interactions for me to be able to communicate telepathically with him but this thought makes me embarrassed. We have never had a reason to d
Ash POV“Want to join us for the evening patrol?” Caspian asks.I jerk my head upwards, “What does that mean?” “You know, we will run around. It is just an excuse to go wild in wolf form. It isn’t compulsory unless it is a full moon but it is a good opportunity to meet everyone.” He explains.I try to not let the horror show on my face as I realize that during the course of the days we spent together, not once did I mention that I lost my wolf. This isn’t good. I definitely can’t bring it up now and definitely not at the dinner table in front of everyone.I smile stiffly, “Not tonight, I just want to get some rest.” I stuff some food in my mouth, if I am chewing my expression should not betray me.“That is too bad,” Damien says. “It would have been nice to run with you.”I squint my eyes and nod my head but since my mouth is full, I do not attempt to talk. Kay doesn’t say anything and he keeps his gaze on his food while Damon glares at me and Claire looks indifferent.I can’t keep th
Caspian's POVI am sitting across from Ashton with my hands folded and it is all can do to not grab her and hold her close to me.She is leaning against the chairs, her shoulders are relaxed and so is her face as she stares at the night sky. I do wish she could go running with us tonight, I am curious about her wolf."What do you think about my Pack?" I ask.I am curious about this and a part of me still can't believe she agreed to follow me here considering how adamant she had been about it.The questions about how we located her in the car threw me off guard a little and I thought she might catch up on me and decide not to go with us but she did and it is relieving.I see her twist her hand at my question, she looks genuinely uncomfortable and I can tell I won't like what she is about to say. I brace myself for her answer. Ashton's words always seem to catch me off guard."I am not going to lie, it is much better than I thought." She says and throws her face away."Did you actually
Ash POVI watch Caspian leave the balcony with Kay walking behind and I turn my attention to the night sky. The air is cool, the kind that isn't uncomfortable enough for one to need a jacket.I close my eyes and lean against the headboard. I should probably go to my room but I will be stuck doing nothing so it is best if I just sit here enjoying the night breeze as long as I can before I retire to bed.I don't know how long the patrol will take but I assume it will take a while. Wolves do love to run around. I wouldn't know. It does suck to not have a wolf anymore. I do remember the feeling of having one. My first turn had been excruciatingly painful and I remember crying all through the process. My mother had held me during the entirety of the process and it was comforting to have her there as I truly thought I was going to die.Nathan didn't let me forget as he constantly mocked my cries. Apparently, I did think I was going to die and kept crying that I didn't want to.It is a litt
Ash POV"You are the reason Caspian was away for that amount of time, right?" He asks suddenly. My hands on the pad freeze and I slowly turn around to see him looking at me closely. I quickly turn away and swallow."Yes," I mumble with my eyes glued to the screen."I thought so," he says and plays the game. "Let's play."I blink, I am a little taken aback that's the only thing he says about my response but I am glad I don't have to say more.I focus all my attention on the game, shutting out any unnecessary thoughts. I haven't played any video games in a while and I find that I am excited."You won!" He says in horror at the end of the game.I smirk, "So it would seem.""How?""Lucky, I guess.""That was luck.""I am pretty good with fighting games, as long as the moves are simple and I am familiar with them. You just underestimated me." I scoff."What do you expect? You didn't know how to select a character." He says, his look of bewilderment hasn't changed."In my defense, I have ne
Caspian POVI left the patrol a little early, well it was basically the end of it so I know, Vi wouldn't have a problem handling the rest. I do feel good to be back but I know I would have preferred to be stuck indoors with her.I growl as I make my way back to the house. There must be something wrong with me. I am probably just worried and I want to see if she is faring well. I think to myself as I run in the moonlight in my wolf form.I make my way into the house and hurriedly make my way upstairs, still in my wolf form. I stop in front of Ashton's room and she isn't there. I then make my way to the balcony but by the scent, I can tell she left here a while ago.I rush to my room and change back to human form, grab on a pair of pants and make my way downstairs again. She isn't in the kitchen and I can't sense her anywhere. She wouldn't have left right? I panic. Why would she, after following us all the way here? It didn't make any sense but at this point, I can't put anything past A
Ash POV"Ashton, do you need something? Is the air conditioner not working again?" He asks. His voice is just as concerned as his face.I shake my head as I snap out of it. "No, no. It is fine. I was just wondering if I can get a hairdryer." I said as I wonder where I can rest my eyes, definitely not on his chest."Oh, it explains why your hair is wrapped." He says.I nod looking up at his face, he is really taller than I am. I know this but for some weird reason, I am very aware of this now."Come in, I will get you mine.""You have a hairdryer?" I ask in horror as I walk into his room."Don't sound so surprised and yes, I do. I was growing my hair out at some point and it is easier than having to deal with wet hair so even though I have short hair now, I still use it."I nod my hair as he speaks but I am not really listening. Caspian's room is bigger than mine, his bed is also very huge. It could be a King's sized bed easily. His room is quite clean, everything's in its proper place
