After getting laid off, I quickly landed a new job.

I became the live-in son-in-law of a wealthy family. I stayed in a mansion, drove luxury cars, and did not have to do any housework. There was no need for me to work hard for the next fifty years, and my mother-in-law gave me a million dollars a month as pocket money.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. My wife was in a coma too.

Before I signed the marriage papers, the elegant socialite, Laura Bennett, asked if I wanted to think it over. She told me her daughter might never wake up.

Life after marriage would be no different from being single.

What was there to think about? This was my dream life.

Back when I had a regular job, I worked my butt off and still took home less than 4,000 dollars after all the deductions.

As long as my comatose wife did not wake up, I could do this gig forever.

I lowered my head and said with a smile, “No need to think it over. I’m in. Having such a kind and beautiful mother-in-law is already a blessing.”

Thanks to my sweet talk, she handed me the keys to a sports car right then and there.

I was almost in tears. My little electric scooter could finally retire with dignity.

Then, she took me to a massive luxury mansion, and I could not help but laugh at how broke I used to be. No wonder the heroines in romance novels always got lost in houses like this. Honestly, anyone would.

I needed to ask the butler how to get around later.

The moment I saw the sleeping beauty lying in bed, something in my chest stirred.

Her features were flawless, like an artist’s masterpiece come to life.

“This is my daughter, Thea Spencer,” Laura said.

I nodded calmly on the outside, but I was freaking out on the inside. My heart was going wild.

She was stunning. Even movie stars could not compare. If I could take her out, I would be the envy of every guy around.

Too bad I could not take her anywhere. If I wanted to, I would need to carry her out.

Laura gave me a quick rundown of the Spencer family’s situation. Her husband had passed away years ago. Thea had always been the golden child until a car accident left her in a coma.

After Laura left the room, I sat on the edge of the bed and gently touched Thea’s cheek.

Wow, her cheeks were unbelievably soft and smooth.

“Come on, babe. Let me steal a kiss.”

All of a sudden, I noticed her eyelashes flutter. I looked again and thought I was just seeing things.

My astigmatism probably tricked me.

Thea had a team of professional caregivers, so there was not much I needed to do. My main responsibilities were to suck up to Laura, keep an eye out for any changes in Thea’s condition, and treat myself to a few harmless perks while I was at it.

The rest of my time was mine to spend however I wanted.

Just like that, I began living the high life as a wealthy family’s son-in-law. I drove luxury cars like they were mine and had a closet full of designer suits. Additionally, truffles and caviar seemed like everyday food.

I deleted all my budget shopping apps because I did not have to stress over coupons and discounts anymore.

When I had free time, I would take my sports car out for a spin with my buddy.

He was glad that he did not ditch me back when I was riding that little electric scooter.

Laura was also incredibly kind, and she gave me gifts all the time.

I could not repay her in any big way, so I made sure to stay helpful. I took care of Thea and gave her massages whenever I could.

What surprised me was how Thea still had such a stunning figure, even after nearly two years in bed.

If even someone in a coma looked this good, how were other women supposed to keep up?

While I massaged Thea, one thought kept running through my mind. How could someone this beautiful end up in a coma? What a waste.

Seriously, who could relate to the pain of having eye candy you could not touch? Any guy in my shoes would have lost his mind.

After the massage, I was not sure if I should help clean her up.

I had never even held a girl’s hand before, so it did not feel right.

However, I reminded myself that she was my legal wife. So, there was nothing inappropriate about helping her clean up. I reached out to undress her, but since I had never done it before, my hand shook and landed somewhere it definitely should not have.

So soft!

I was stunned.

The next moment, Thea sat straight up.

I freaked out and tumbled off the bed in a panic.

Sleeping beauties were supposed to wake up from a kiss. Why did mine wake up from a touch?

Thea glared at me, like she was ready to throw me out the window.
