EP3 THE NEWS

Grrrr Grrrr

The alarm continued jingling, Chloe damn tired of the sound finally opened her eyes annoyed. She went into the bathroom to do her morning routine before leaving for the living room.

"Look who finally decided to wake up," Mason said the moment he saw Chloe walking down the stairs. Chloe walks straight to the kitchen ignoring him.

"Good day Chloe, see what we are baking, it tastes delicious," Ashley announced as she saw her sister walk into the kitchen... Since it was the weekend, Ava and her daughter decided to do some stuff in the kitchen.

But Chloe being herself ignored her walking straight to the fridge, looking for what to eat...

"Mummy, I thought you said she was acting cranky yesterday because she was stressed out? Is she still…."

"Your voice annoyed me, will you just stop talking already!" Chloe screamed, shocking the little girl, she stared at Chloe in shock.

"Chloe, she is a kid," Ava muttered, picking up Ashley from the ground.

"Yeah, she is a kid that is why I should tell her the truth, Ashey…."

"My name is Ashley, why do you always get it wrong?" Ashley cut Chloe off from talking.

"Hey, brat I don't f**king care what your name is, I just want you to know I hate you because she is your….."

"Chloe she is a kid for God's sake, learn how to talk."

"What? I am only telling her the truth." Chloe said with a shrugging shoulder and walked out of the kitchen with a box of cornflakes in her hands.

"Baby, don't think about what you hear from her okay," Ava tried to say soothing words so Ashley won't cry. She couldn't believe Chloe would say such things to a child.

"Young miss, you didn't eat at all yesterday, why take just this today?" Chloe continued walking up to her room ignoring the maid. But the maid is not the one to give up quickly, as she tags along.

Sandra is in her mid fifties, she had been the one taking care of her since she was a baby, she has stayed with her for a long time so she couldn't just give up on her like this. She has promised her mum to always be there to care for Chloe.

"Would you like me to cook something del…."

"Nana, I am not in the mood to eat anything," Chloe responded, still walking to her room. Even if Chloe is a disrespectful girl she always reduces her rudeness a bit when talking to her.

"Hey, miss! Go drop that thing and wait in the dining for me to prepare something for you. You look so skinny" Sandra said in a fierce tone.

"Nana…" but Chloe stopped walking when she saw the look on Sandra's face. In a murmuring voice, she walked to the dining room annoyed. Still scooping some dried corn flakes in her mouth with her sitting alone in the dining room.

"Chloe, I have a problem with my…"

"Get the f**k out of my sight if you don't wanna be the one crying next.

"You are so mean," Mason whispered walking out of the dining room.

"Yeah! I live for that." Chloe yelled out.

"That explains why you have nothing else to do than to seat at home or waste dad's money on stupid make ups.

"Hey! How dare you talk to me that way?" Chloe surged up from the chair she was sitting on, about to chase the kid that had long run to his mum, but she came across Sandra who was bringing her food.

"Don't you dare come close to me else I will make you regret ever saying that word." Chloe screamed.

"Gosh! That brat made me lose my appetite." Chloe said out loud to Sandra's hearing.

"I don't care about that Chloe, you need to eat this food," Sandra said, leaving her in the dining room. Chloe sighed and sat back in defeat. Forcing herself to eat it.

Sandra stood by the kitchen watching Chloe eat her food. She felt pity for the little girl who was forcing herself to eat the food prepared for her. She felt like Chloe changed a lot over the years. Chloe was a playful and easy going girl.

"I always hope she will one day forgive us and accept us in her life, but it's been over fifteen years now and she still hates us." Sandra heard Ava say behind her. She was done baking now. Mason and Ashley could be seen eating their cupcake by the corner of the kitchen.

Sandra turned to Ava, giving Ava a blank look. "Oh you are done, please you can take your leave now, I will take care of the kids and also the kitchen," Sandra said and bowed before leaving her standing there.

Ava looks in Sandra's direction smiling sadly. "She also still doesn't have the heart to like me." She whispered to herself.

"You should give her some cake, Ashley will be very sad if she doesn't eat it," Ava whispered as she placed some cake on a plate.

"She saw it already that you made the cake and now you want to make me take this to her?"

"You seem to hate me more than Chloe," Ava said again, placing the plate on Sandra's palm.

"I am not promising you that she would eat it, " Sandra answered.

"I don't care if she eats it or not, just let my daughter believe she ate it." Ava walked out of the kitchen leaving Sandra speechless.

She turned to the kids and saw Mason was done with his cake, he was now feeding his sister. Sandra sighed and took the cake to Chloe who was now done with her food, not like she ate much though.

"Chloe, here is some dessert," Sandra said as she placed it on the table but Chloe grimaced her face seeing what was before her.

"Guess the witch forced you to bring this to me?… Trust me nana I won't eat it," Chloe said and stood from the chair about to walk away, Ashely's voice stopped her.

"Chloe, just take a bite I promise I did my best in making it." She heard the little voice.

Chloe looked toward Ashley's direction, "Though I just told you a few minutes ago I don…." Chloe exhaled loudly and stretched her hands toward Sandra.

"I am only taking this because you keep disrupting my peace, so now you too have let me be. Okay?" Chloe asked in a terrifying voice. Ashley nodded happily rushing toward the table before Sandra could take it, she took a piece and rushed toward Chloe giving it to her.

Chloe snatched it from her hands and went to her room.

"How the hell can't she just let me be even if I act badly to her?" Chloe couldn't help but be confused by her little step sister tactics.

She placed the cake on the dressing table and then went to pick up her phone from her nightstand only to be met with just a missed call. She checked it and saw it was Aiden.

Chloe scoffed, "I can't believe since last night, he only called me just once." Chloe wanted to drop her phone but stopped when it began to go off.

She checked the screen to see it displayed "My love" on it. She wanted to decline it but still thinks she should pick it.

She picked and didn't say anything, "I should be the one mad at you, not you." Chloe still didn't say anything.

"You broke your promise…."

"Like the hell! He touched me wrongly, you should fight him out! Not get mad at me in the presence of those crowds!"

"This is your problem Chloe, you always think you are right, it's something you could do by gently, talking to him not embarrassing him in front of the whole public."

"So are you trying today so I shouldn't embarrass him?"

"I meant you shouldn't cause a scene, that is how someone with maturity should behave."

"So I am being unreasonable?"

"Yeah, Chloe!"

"I feel like I am forcing myself on you a lot." Chloe cut him off.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Never mind, I got home safe and sound. Thanks for reaching out." Chloe ended the call and dropped her phone.

"I can't believe this! I am being unreasonable?"

"Like who the hell does that?" Chloe wanted to go out but she recalled her card was blocked. Then she decided to talk to her dad when he got back home, she crashed into her bed.

Chloe's phone kept buzzing, and at the same time, someone kept knocking on her door.

"Gosh! Can't anyone let me have my f**king peace?" Chloe picked up her phone ignoring the door. She saw 95 missed calls. All from unknown contacts, while 2 from Aiden, and 5 from her friends each.

"What is going on?" She asked, confused.

"Young Miss, open the door please." The boss wants to know if you are alright.

Confused Chloe went to open her room door, to see Sandra almost at the edge of tears. "What is going on?"

"Have you read the news?"

"Nah, I was f**king have my beauty sleep before this whole drama comes up!" Chloe yelled annoyed.

"Now will you tell me what is going on?"

"It would be better if you check your phone for it,"

Chloe rushed into her room to check her phone only to be met with the shock of her life. A piece of news that would change her life forever.
