Laura's POV:
Jerry was rushed to the hospital immediately. Everything had happened so fast it left me with nothing to think about.
All I was worried about was Jerry. Reiner's punch had socked the life out of him, finishing him for good.
Luckily for Jerry, he survived Reiner's devastating left hook but it left him with little or no energy to stand up.
I had completely forgotten Reiner did boxing every day as part of his morning routine before he gets down to work.
He even had a big boxing ring built in Sun island where he hosts fights every Friday nights as another major source of cash revenue in the sector of sports and entertainment.
Even though Reiner, a middle weight holder, isn't ready to make a career out of boxing, he makes a great deal of money out of his Friday night boxing fights that he hosts on the island.
As I waited in the waiting room, my mind went to work on various thoughts that suffocated me inside.
Reiner hadn't even given Jerry a glance. Instead he yelled at the security guards to pick Jerry up and throw him out. I was the one who fell on my knees and begged Reiner to allow Jerry to be taken to the hospital.
After I explained to Reiner Jerry was my fiance, he gave new orders for an ambulance to be called. He also granted me a short break from work to ensure Jerry was alright.
I've only got twenty minutes left before my break was over. I must report to Reiner immediately.
However, I don't know how to face Reiner not after what he did to Jerry. How do I stand before Reiner knowing this same man had fucked me last night and also punched my fiance, hospitalizing him in the process.
Just what kind of a boss was he? This had stretched too far enough. I'm going to resign. I can't take this anymore.
Just then, the doctor came out of the emergency ward and nodded me to his office.
"I'm Dr. Cole," he said. "You must be Laura."
"Is he going to be alright?" I asked, feverishly instead.
We were now seated in Cole's office. He sat down behind his desk and nodded.
"He'd be alright," he said. "He just met with a concussion but he'll be fine."
I leaned back on my chair, feeling entirely grateful. I thought Jerry was a goner.
"If you don't mind me asking," Cole said quietly. "What happened to him?"
"Jerry's my fiance," I replied immediately. "He got in trouble with my boss and got hit."
Cole's eyebrows shot up. "Your boss? Who's your boss?"
I told him. "Reiner Caesar."
Cole was quiet for a bit. I understand what he was thinking. What kind of idiot would ever muster up the guts to get into the bad side of Caesar?
"That's umm...," Cole looked shocked. "That's a lot to take in. Your husband must be quite a brave man. What did he do to Caesar?"
For the first time in years, I felt free to open up to someone. There was a lot on my head and I needed to get it off my chest.
"Well," I glanced at Cole. "I haven't told anyone about this yet but... My fiance is very abusive."
Cole narrowed his eyes. He stood to his feet and offered coffee, "How do you like your coffee?"
"Black," I accepted. "No milk nor sugar."
Cole smiled at me and nodded. "Give me a moment."
He left me to go grab our coffee.
While he was gone, I asked myself if this was a wise thing to do. I've never opened up to anyone about my marital life before. I was more of a private person. I haven't even told neither of our parents about our the conflict in our marriage.
I mean, Jerry and I had only been dating for three years. Surely we don't need outsiders to dictate what needs to be done in our relationship when we can figure out things for ourselves.
I realized something. The reason why I've been depressed is because I always bottled up my feelings. I need to talk to someone.
Cole returned back with a tray of two steamy hot mugs of coffee.
"I'm back," he said and settled the tray before me. "Black coffee, just like you ordered."
I was grateful for the coffee. I needed it to relax my nerves. As I took a sip from my mug, I took my time to study Cole.
Cole looked very young for a doctor. He was in his late twenties, handsome and charming. His crew cut brown hair gave me an impression he must've served in the army not to talk about that athletic build body his lab coat must've been concealing. He rocked the five o’clock shadow beard on his jaws, giving him that matured hot boy looks.
I haven't noticed I've been speaking to a hottie all these while. Now that I feel relaxed, I couldn't help but notice these distinctive features.
"Thanks for the coffee," I said, smiling genuinely for the first time since I woke up today.
"Don't mention," he returned the smile back. "I want you to feel relaxed while we talk. You're free to be opened with me. I'm all ears. And hey, you don't have to worry about your secret going all out there. Whatever you and I discuss in this office remains here."
He looked so trustworthy and kind I saw no reason to hold back from him. And so I told him my story.
I told him about my unhappy relationship with Jerry. Everything he needed to know about Jerry and I, I held no details from him.
But I didn't tell him anything about Reiner nor about last night in his office. That information was stuck with me to my grave. I can't bring myself to tell someone that Reiner and I had made out in his office. That information was reserved between only Reiner and I.
Cole listened attentively to me without interruption. When I was done, I felt light hearted. I got everything off my chest. It just felt so damn good to feel so light and free.
Cole took his time to think things through. Then he turned to me. "Why don't we schedule a meeting? How does Saturday sound to you?"
I was surprised he was fixing a date for us to meet. "I... I uh... weekends are my off days from work."
"Awesome," he pulled out his complementary card and handed it over to me. "Call me later tonight. I'll book us a reservation for a meal. There's this Italian restaurant I know. You'll love it."
I studied Cole's card then studied him as well.
Huh?
What is this?
Is this some kind of invitation to a date?
* * * *
My break was over. I was five minutes late to work from the hospital.
When I arrived, the first message I received was from the receptionist. Reiner wanted me in his office now.
As I took the elevator to his office floor, I held my composure. I've decided what I was going to do.
It's very simple. I'll resign.
Reiner had gone passed his limits. I won't work for him anymore. Fucking me in his office was one thing but hurting Jerry was another.
No matter how anyone choose to look at things, Jerry was still my fiance and I respect him. There's no way I'll stand for another man bedridden him in my presence.
I'll resign. It was stupid of me to have given up my body to Reiner in the first place just to save a job I don't enjoy doing.
Once I'm in that sordid office of his, I'm gonna give him a piece of my mind.
As the elevator doors swished opened, I marched towards my desk, dropped my handbag and went straight for Reiner.
Standing in front of his office, I took in three deep breath before I bursted in like a hurricane on the loose.
Reiner was reclined on his executive chair, stretching both his legs on his desk. He was speaking to someone on the telephone.
"Caesar," I said but was cut off by the wave of his hand.
He frowned at me, gesturing he was still on the line. I stood with my hands behind my back, watching him as he laughed and chatted with whoever was on the other side of the line.
Seeing that smug smile on his face gave me the creeps. Here was a man who punched my fiance in the face. There was no sign of remorse seen in those eyes of his. What manner of man was he anyways? How could a man be smooth, calm and heartless after putting a man in the hospital?
Seeing those red lips of his reminded me of last night. The feeling of his kiss on my lips brought me out in cold frenzy. He was a very good kisser and an amazing man in bed.
My face grew red as I instantly shook my head. I silently cursed myself for having such dirty thoughts.
I'm the worse. Here was I ogling at my bosses sexiness whereas he had ruined my life.
At last, Reiner hung up and turned to face me. "You're five minutes late, Laura."
"My apologies, Caesar."
Caesar leaned back in his chair, regarding me closely. I saw a spark of interest in his eyes. The same spark that started all these madness.
"I'm thirsty," he said casually. "Fix me a drink."
"Caesar I—"
He cut me off sharply. "A drink first, Laura."
His voice was as sharp as a blade. There was no denying him. I walked over to his drink cabinet and mixed him a Martini, just the way he likes his Martini to be mixed.
When I served him, he took a sip and nodded his satisfaction. Then he turned to me.
"Now that's better," he passed a tongue over his red lips. "I believe you're thinking of resigning right now, aren't you, Laura?"
I was surprised. How the hell had he figured that out? I had made that decision inwardly. There was no way he could have read my mind.
"H-how did you know?"
Reiner tapped his brain with his finger. "Psychology, Laura. Psychology. I happen to understand human nature. But that's not what's important right now, is it?"
"I-I guess so," I stammered, unable to meet his piercing eyes.
He gave a faint smile. "You know, Laura, I like you. You're the best goddamn PA I've ever hired. You're smart and very proactive. You're incredibly reliable and dependable. None of my former PAs understood me but somehow you did. While you were away at the hospital, I ran a digging in your private life. You've been dating Jerry Patterson for three years. Your fiance was once CEO to a Digital market company but due to his bad choices and recklessness, he ran the company into bankruptcy and was out of money. You had to take up jobs to pay the bills and feed. For three years Jerry did nothing but laze and fool around with women, leaving all his manly duties for you to handle."
"I don't believe this," I said, gaping at him in shock. "How do you knows so much?"
Reiner chuckled. "I am Caesar. This is my island. Nothing is hidden from me. I have eyes and ears everywhere. Whatever Information I need is handed over to me on a plate. Besides, I've been watching you ever since I hired you."
I gasped. "You were spying on me?"
Reiner waved his hand. "I was spying on your fiance actually," he pointed at his desk. "Look infront of you, Laura and tell me what you see."
I glanced down and saw three brown envelopes.
"Envelopes. I see three envelopes," I replied.
Caesar went on. "I'll let the envelopes do the talking. Take the first one by your left and take a look at what's inside."
I picked up the envelope by my left hand side and tore the seal opened. I didn't know why but my hands were far from steady. I had an eeriy feeling I was in for a big surprise.
And I was. What a surprise it was.
What I drew out of the envelope were pictures. They were six picture. Bold, colourful and detailed.
The first picture was that of Jerry at a strip club. He was splashing money on two hot strippers. The second picture showed Jerry walking into a hotel with an attractive young woman. The third picture made my heart shattered. It showed Jerry having a threesome with two women. The fourth picture was taken from the day Jerry brought a brown haired girl into our home.
Our home! The home I paid for with my hard earned money.
Tears welled up in my eyes and droppy on the pictures. My knees felt weak and ready to give way. I couldn't think, I couldn't speak.
I had always suspected Jerry was cheating on me but I've never caught him red handed. These were concrete evidence that I was right all along.
I gave my all to Jerry. I gave him half of my earnings just so he could live on something while I pay the bills. Little did I know he was throwing these money away on women and when I fail to give him anymore than what I usually give every week, he'd throw a tantrum and beat me up with his belt.
These pictures destroyed me. I didn't bother to look at the other pictures because if I did, I might just black out. I dropped the photos and placed both my hands on the table and sobbed quietly.
Reiner didn't say anything for a while. He allowed me to agonise in pains before he went further.
"Like I said," he went on. "I have eyes everywhere. I am Caesar. This is my island. The hotels, the strip clubs, the estates, the casinos and shop malls all belongs to me."
He kept repeating those words as if he were a god. Well, yeah, in Sun island Reiner was supreme. Nothing is hidden ubdet his eyes.
Reiner took another sip and nodded at the next envelope. "Check out the next envelope by your right. Then the one in the middle. I'm a man of little words. Make your choice."
I didn't want to carry on with his little mini games. I was heartbroken and tired. All I wanted to do is go home and hug my pillow and cry.
However, I reached out and picked up the next envelope and tore the seal. What I brought out was a retrenchment letter.
My retrenchment letter was already written and prepared for me. All I had to do was sign and leave this job.
I read through the letter, realising Reiner had read my thoughts all along and was ready to give me a choice.
I could choose to resign, yeah? I could choose to walk out of this office, this island and Reiner's life forever with nothing to my name except a broken heart and a rotten cheating fiance.
What a choice to make. At my current state, this doesn't sound bad. But then there was the last envelope.
Curiosity got me and I took it and opened it. I brought out a document from the envelope.
Not just any document but a contract.
I read through the deed of the contract, my eyes growing wide.
"Y-you... you want me to...to be your wife?"
"Yes," he took out a fountain pen and tossed it at me. "Pick it up and make your choice. Sign the marriage contract or you're fired!"
Reiner's POV:"....Sign the marriage contract or you're fired!"I leaned back in my seat and waited for her next line of action. Up until now, I had done nothing but set-up the perfect worse case scenario if she chose not to sign the contract. Laura was conflicted inside. This was a tough decision for her to make. From where I sat, I saw that her hands were far from steady. "What the hell are you waiting for?" I thundered, causing her to quiver. "I-I need some time to think about this, Caesar. This...this is too sudden," she replied, her voice croaked. I leaned forward at her and pointed my index finger at her. "If there's one thing I hate more than anything is someone who wastes my goddamn time. I've got a busy schedule today so I'd like to get this out of the way. You were given two options, Laura. Choose wisely and quickly."Laura glanced down at the marriage contract and the retrenchment letter, sweat beads building up on her face. What a tight spot to be in but that's why I
Laura's POV:"Shit!" Jerry swore under his breath when the nurse left his ward. "How dare that bastard take a swing at me? I'll fix him. I'll make him pay."I sat across Jerry, staring down at my feet while he ranted away. I had just arrived at the hospital thirty minutes ago and just in time to see Jerry receiving his last injection. Aside his swollen busted jaws, Jerry seemed alright. He was allowed to go home whenever he wants. Jerry turned to me and seeing my quiet demeanor, he cursed at me, "You filthy whore. To think your boss could punch me in the face because of you. Seems my intuition was correct. Ever since you got that job, working for that dreadful son of a bitch, I knew sooner or later you'd be dropping your pants for him. So tell me, Laura. I'm I lying? You've been fucking your boss, haven't you?!"I slowly raised my head up and met his glaring eyes. "Let's break up."Jerry stared at me as if I had suddenly gone nuts. He squinted at me. "What did you just say?"I stood
Reiner's POV:The hallway echoed with my footsteps as I marched towards the end of the hall where Hank and the others were waiting. My hands were balled into fists and my teeth were clenched. If there was one thing I hate, is another man messing with my toys. I see women as nothing but toys. They are either useful to my benefits or are useless and fit to be discharged and replaced. Laura was not just any toy but my pawn. As low ranked as a pawn might seem, it's values are very important in the game of chess. Once it advances to the end of the enemies territory, it can be promoted to a powerful piece. Laura is a very valuable piece to me. Any man who's got the guts to hurt her is a dead man. I'll make him regret ever laying a finger on her. The two bodyguards guarding the entrance bowed and opened the door into the dark room. I ordered them to wait behind while I walked right in. The dark room was more or less likened to a torture chamber. I built the dark room specifically to de
Laura's POV:"I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I, Reiner Caesar may not be joined in matrimony to Laura Patterson," Reiner paused to continue his contracting words. "I call upon these persons here present to witness that I, Reiner Caesar do take thee Laura Patterson to be my lawful wedded wife. I promise to care for you, to give you my love and friendship and to respect you and cherish you throughout the rest of our lives together."He spoke as if he meant every words he just said. Gazing into those piercing cobalt blue eyes, I knew just as well as he does that he gives no damn about our marital vows. Not that you can call this a wedding. I've always wanted a big wedding, invite lots of people, walk down the aisle in a beautiful white dress and make long lasting memories of my special day. Reality they say, is often disappointing. It appears I'm never gonna have that big wedding. Reiner wanted something quiet and small. The only witnesses present a
The moment Reiner and I stepped into the mansion we we're immediately approached by a woman. She was as far as I could tell, the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. She's probably in her middle twenties, compactly built and dressed in a green pleated skirt and an open V neck silk blouse that exposed the top of her popping boobs. She got one of those beautiful skin Instagram models dig for. She wasn't just beautiful, she was attractive with a sensuality that commanded attention and lust. She walked up to us and extended a hand to me. " You must be Laura, welcome to the Caesar's family mansion. My name's Doris. I am Mrs Wendy's P.A."I was surprised. Well, what did you know. My former job. To think I'd be shaking hands with someone in the same field of work I was once employed into. I took her hand and we shooked briefly. "It's nice to meet you, Doris. I'm Laura.""Where's my grandmother?" Reiner chipped in impatiently, drawing me closer to himself. "I must present my wife to her."
"Careful," Sylvester helped me to my feet. "You could've hurt yourself."I steadied myself until I got a hold on my standing. "I'm sorry, it's these damned high heels. I'm not used to them.""Maybe you should take them off and go for something more comfortable," Sylvester suggested, flashing me a smile. "I haven't seen you around here before.""I'm Laura," I introduced myself a little awkwardly. "Reiner's wife."He stepped toward me, invading my personal space. His scent of male, dry cedar, and leather seeped into my system, making me drunk. Sylvester cocked his head, surprised. "Reiner's wife? Since when did that happened?""Today," I replied him.Sylvester dug his hands in his pocket and chuckled. "That's a surprise. Reiner's never brought a girl home before. Usually, he fools around with women, then dump them the next day. So it's surprising, running into a woman who claims to be his wife."How could I reply Sylvester of all people. He was the man of the house. He oversees the aff
"Strip, bitch!" Reiner commanded. I crawled away from him, feeling nothing but fear for him. He threw his belt away and got on the king-sized bed. "What's the problem?" I asked, stuttering. "D-did I do something wrong?""You heard what I said," he barked, his shadow engulfing me. "Strip. Time for your punishment.""Punishment?" I asked, looking surprised. "Hold the phone. What did I do?"Reiner grabbed both my wrists and pinned them against the headrest of the bed. His breath was getting harder. "You're mine," he rasped, his eyes like holes punctured in paper. "No one must ever touch you in such a familiar way.""Is this because of Sylvester?" I asked, growing more and more scared of him. "I'm sorry if I got you offended but it's not my fault. He was relentless to escort me to our bedroom.""Which makes it the more reason," Reiner bawled. "No man touches my woman. I'm a territorial person. I hate it when someone trys to invade my territory. You must understand you're no longer Laur
Laura's POV:"...tell me, what did you do to Jerry?"Reiner set down his magazine and took his Martini in his hand. "Jerry? You mean your loser fiancé?"I bite my lips as his words hit home. Yeah Jerry was a loser but somehow it doesn't sit right with Reiner judging nor insulting him. "He's human," I defended him. "Yeah, same human you left for me.""Can you," I raised my hands in frustration. "Just answer the question?""Why are you worried about him, anyways?" Reiner smacked his lips, frowning at me. "You've got no business with your ex anymore. Move on for fuck sake.""I just wanna know he's fine," I said, sighing in exasperation. "Look, we're supposed to get married by the end of the year. Our parents are aware of our engagement and were in full support. When I announced I was calling off the engagement to my folks, they didn't take it too well. Same goes for Jerry's parents. I gave my reasons but they're kinda insisting we work things out. I didn't sleep a wink last night, tryi
