Chapter 5 Harry's insistence

"Boss?" She was surprised that her boss didn't drive away after she step out of the car. ”Who are you? This is between me and my girlfriend! So go get lost!" Harry said angrily.

"If you use force on a woman what that does it makes  you ? Director Harry. You have a name to take care of  you wouldn't want to tarnish your name with sexual harrasshment." Cole said threatening.

"You know me?" Harry baffled look closely at the intruder his face brighten up when he recognizes who he is talking to?

"Asher Parker Productions, Is your memory clear now?" Cole told Harry.

"Who are you to her? That you!  The great Colin Anderson, meddled with her personal life? Are you one of those she seek favours to like her slut sister?  Is she like her twin sister too?" Harry accused but he never saw the fist that made contact to his lips.

"That will make you think twice next you slander a woman now go before  I forget myself and ruin you for life! Next time you talk to  my employee like that , bear in mind that once they are in my employ I make their business  my business." Cole very calmly said.

Harry left with bleeding lips, that make Rachel speechless from what she witnessed? There is many thing running through her mind that made her head aches."Are you alright Miss Barnes?" Cole asked. She nodded not trusting herself.

"Get inside your apartment, before anything comes up next." He ordered.

"Thank you sir."  Rachel finally found her voice. "Would you like... Or could I offer you something to drink."  She stutter and rephrase her words so that she won't be missunderstood.

"That would be nice, Miss Barnes, but maybe next time, I need to get somewhere, and don't forget you don't need to get early tomorrow take an hour  or two I will be in later after lunch."

"Okay boss... " She wanted to thank him again but she change her mind, she just watch him turn to walk away.before she step inside her apartment. She's getting ready to sleep when she remembered to set her alarm and check her phone. She was surprised to see so many missed calls and messages from her family Phil and Allyson. She was about to check on Allison's message first. When her phone rings.

"Hello?"  She replied.

"Hello cupcake! Thank goodness you answered." The voice of her father always brings comfort to her even on times when she is in distressed.

"Daddy what's up! I muted my phone when I was at work to avoid being disturbed . Sorry." She immediately apologize for her will to avoid entertaining calls from Reba and Harry she forgot that others night be calling her.

"... Is that Rachel on the line? Tell her to be here as soon as possible or I'll be the one barging in wherever she may be!" She can hear her mother issued threats on her.

"What's wrong Dad that make Mom upset?"  She asked eventhough she had a suspicion that Reba had already told her parents about her condition. That makes Rachel in her eyes the one responsible for her twin's condition.

"Just be here cupcake we will discuss it, when will you be h ere the soonest?"

"I'll be there tomorrow morning Dad." 

"Okay we will wait for you. Take care cupcake." Rachel have to smile at her father's endearment. In the Barnes home only her father is her defender but he is also under their mother especially when she is upset. Oscar will move heaven and earth just to calm their mother.

On the other hand, Colin is park outside his aunt residence calling someone on the phone. " I want a full details of the identity of Rachel Barnes her family and close friends, and I want it as soon as possible." He end the call he had a bad feeling about her new Personal assistant..

He was about to enter the gates when his phone rang."Hello,?" Cole replied seeing that it was his father calling.

"Hello son could you come  home to Sarah's residence as soon as possible?"  His father said .

"I'm at the gate Dad , just a minute." He replied before hanging up. Cole and his father don't have a loving relationship due to his father's second wife, Melissa who saw Cole as a rival to his father affection for his brother Calvin , Melissa's son.

As he entered the living room  Cole heard voices one of his father, the other was his Aunt Sarah and still the other was unmistakably belonging to Melissa.

"Oh there you are Cole dear, sit down. Your father has something to discuss with you." His A unt Sarah greeted him, Cole sat after greeting his father and the ladies. He raise his brow towards his father in silent queries for their business with him that they had gone out of their way to come personally..

"I think you heard about the Brooks returning back to the country, and they are intending to invest in local businesses and..." He cut off his father's words. "And you want your business to be the one they will invest with? I don't see why you have to confer with me Dad. I have another line of business from yours. Besides I don't have a say in your company." He replied straightforward, while Sarah cross her brows at what his brother -in-law is getting at?

"Colin, you are my son you have a part on it when I will retire you along with Calvin will run the company." He said to pease Cole's resentment.

"Thanks , but no thanks Dad, I have my hands full with my own." Cole said grudgingly..

"But son you've got to help me with this." Gregor said.

"Whst is it?" Cole asked he had a bad feeling that he won't like what is coming.

"Well!" His father was hesitant to say but his wife urge him to do so, by the glare she gave him. " To... Strengthen the ties between our two families. the Brooks suggests to marry their only daughter to one of my son, and that is supposed to be you!" His father said. Sarah gave a grasp of surprised.

"What!? Why me?   And what made you think that I will agree to that. Who's idea was it to manipulate my life." Cole said furiously.

"It will only be in the papers. You can go on with your life be with anyone you like as long as you will not divorce." His father declared.

"What!? Are you out of your mind." He stood up dismissing the idea.

"Colin a big share with the company will be yours if you agree to this?" Melissa put in for the first time.

"So it was your idea  Melissa to manipulate my life! Why don't you offer it to your precious son to be tied to a loveless marriage." Cole accuses his step-mother.

"Colin! That is not the way you talk to your mother!" His father stood up towering both ladies.

"She is not my mother Dad!  And if she is , she will not allow her son to be manipulated into a situation like this,  for the sake of money. Money that they she and Calvin had been milking for as long as I can remember!"

"You!" His father unable to control his anger  hit Cole it the face that busted his lips.  that Sarah who had been silent all along had to pull them away from each other, while Melissa was smirking.

"I think you have to discuss this another time. You won't be able to settle this if you will not be calm " Sarah said.

"What ever it takes I won't marry  that Brook's daughter." Cole said.

"I will disown you!" His father retaliated. "Go ahead Dad you already had for the longest time!" Cole retaliated all the same.

Sarah is hurt by the way Gregor and his second wife had manipulated and disregard Cole's existence eversince her sister died  of child-birth. She was just, twenty -two years old when she met an accident, and had been into coma for three months before Cole was delivered through c-section to save the baby when His mother Ashley's health fast deteriorating. 

She was heartbroken when Gregor immediately married Melissa a month after the funeral and she assume the responsibilities of raising Cole as the son she never has. "You shouldn't raise your voice to your father like that. I didn't raise you to lose  your respect for your elders." Sarah told her nephew.

"I just cannot accept that he had forgot his responsibilities to me to give in with his wife's whims, and to think that he had forgotten  how the Brooks had played on your feelings, your friendship  and took advantage on your trust before, that he would like me to attached myself to that despicable family. I feel like a pawn in their games, Mom." Cole address his aunt Sarah as his mother.

"This is not about me Cole. You should always remember that you  have a big share on that company your father own. Ashley had given all her inheritance to that company for your welfare." Sarah remind him.

"I know Mom, even I don't  need it I will  not allow my father's second family to take advantage of my mother's inheritance. I will one day get all what is due to me, but not in this way.I would never marry into that leech family." Cole  dismiss the idea.
