I stood there face to face with the Alpha, I couldn't move nor could I run away. I didn't know why he was standing in front of me, he had a smile on his face. It was strange seeing the Alpha standing in front of me with a smile on his face.

“So, you're the one.” He kept smiling, I didn't know what he meant by those words but I knew that they weren't for me. I took a step back and looked him straight in the eye, I couldn't afford to make the mistake of upsetting the Alpha. 

“I don't understand what you mean by that, Alpha Leon.” I looked down, I heard him chuckle lightly.he walked closer to me, I knew that there was something on his mind and I didn't want to make matters worse for me. 

“I know you feel it too, you can't hide it. You have that look in your eye that shows that you really know what I am talking about.” He kept smiling, I had heard that our Alpha Leon was a nut job and I wanted to shake it off as a rumour but then it was all turning out to be true. 

“What do you mean? I don't know what you are talking about.” I was getting more confused than ever and I didn't want to make anyone in the ball room feel that I was disrespecting the Alpha. 

‘Astrid! It's him he's the one!’ My wolf Lia cried, I was more confused when my Wolf started to cry out saying that he is the one. I knew that there was something wrong, I looked at Alpha Leon. He stood in front of me with a smile on his face and I knew that there was something I wasn't seeing. 

“Astrid, you are my mate.” Alpha Leon said calmly, it was so calm. I was lost looking at him, my legs couldn't move and I couldn't hold back the tears flowing down my cheek. 

“What are you saying?” I looked at him in tears as he smiled, I didn't know what I was going to do. Run to him and be happy or stand there cry my heart out. 

“I said that you are my mate, and I will be taking you with me back to my house. I won't have my mate live in an orphanage.” His smile didn't break, not even once. I knew that he was serious. 

My heart leaped with joy, I could feel Lia's joy as well. Finally after four years of pain and torment the moon goddess finally found us and gave us the freedom we needed. 

It had been four long years of pain and torture, I wondered how I could have survived all that. I didn't believe that such a thing could happen. I was even beginging to think that it was my fate to die here. 

But now I have been saved. 

“Alpha Leon, you can't be serious. She is useless girl and she will be of no use to you. You will be making a big mistake if you took her back to your house.” 

The Mistress in charge of the orphanage came to talk to Alpha Leon, I knew that she of all people wouldnt want to let me go to where I would have peace. She was always the one who would make my life a living hell. 

“You can look around and see if you would find another girl-” Alpha Leon turned back and looked at her. She went silent when their eyes met. 

“You dare try to tell me who I am to choose as my mate! Are you in anyway the moon goddess who led me her? Or do you really think that my Wolf is making a mistake?!” the Alpha's were bright red, showing that he was already angry. 

“No my Alpha, I have said enough.” The Mistress bowed her head and backed away, I had never seen her that scared. Alpha Leon turned his attention back to me. I looked at him and i could feel warm just standing close to him. 

“Well now, Ethan will take you back to my house. You will wait for me there. I will be with you shortly my dear.” He placed his palm on my cheek, I looked into his eyes. It was clear, I didn't need anything else. I only wanted him and him alone. 

“Ethan,” He called out for the beta, Ethan came closer to us. He had a face that seem rather emotionally ridden. 

“Take her back to the house and show her where to stay and wait for me.” The Alpha was holding my hand, I felt safe I didn't want to let go of his hand. 

“Astrid you will follow him, he will take you back to my place.” He looked at me, he noticed that I didn't want to let go of his hand so he bent over and gave me a kiss on the cheek. 

I let go of his hands and followed Ethan to the car, I looked back to the orphanage I was leaving. It had so many bad memories, things that I wanted to forget so badly. I couldn't really believe that I was finally leaving. 

“Everything happened so fast.” I said as I sat in the car, and Beta Ethan began to take me to the pack house. It was something that I had never imagined would happen. 

‘The moon goddess has finally chosen to bless us. I never thought that this day would ever come.’ Lia purred, I knew how she felt. It was a miracle for the Alpha to choose me as his mate. 

“It remains the marking of mates to seal it all.” I looked out the window as the car took me far from all my pain. I couldn’t help but smile, I was finally free.

The car stopped in front of a big house, it was not like I imagined but it was still up to my expectations. Ethan took me to a room where I was going to wait for Alpha Leon to come home. 

“You will wait here, he will be back shortly. If you need anything you call any of the maids they would attend to you.” Ethan said before leaving the room. 

“Thank you.” I said, although I wasn’t sure that he heard me, I looked around the room and I was filled with a joy I couldn’t explain. I walked up to the window and looked down. It was a beautiful scenery to watch, not in a thousand years would I have imagined that I would be in such a place. 

“Father, Mother. I am finally free at last.” I put my hand to my chest, it had been two years since the rogue wolves attacked our house. They killed my father and mother, our house was burnt to the ground with my siblings inside. 

Since then I had never gotten the feeling of love till today, I had never felt anything that would bring me close to the feeling. I faced the likes of bullies and the mistress back at the orphanage. I was the daughter of the pack's strongest Wolf, but  I was reduced to nothing, but now things had finally begun to change. 

I was going to be happy no matter what, I laid down on the bed and fell sound asleep. It was the first time in years that I have had peace and quiet.

I woke up to the sound of footsteps coming to the room, I sat up on the bed. I was filled with joy that he had finally come to see me. I was so excited that I couldn't hold myself, it was going to be my happiest memory for years to come. 

The doors opened and Alpha Leon came in, he had a smile on his face. I couldn't get tired seeing that smile. He walked to my direction and he was still smiling. 

“Welcome home Alpha Leon, it's nice to see you.” I bowed my head, he didn't say anything, he just walked past me and headed to a drawer that was on the other side of the bed. 

‘Maybe he is trying to bring something, well at least he's your mate you're sure to be marked any moment from now.’ Lia was leaping with joy, I couldn't control myself either. It was the first time that I had ever felt like this. 

“I was thinking that I could go visit my parent's grave, I wanted to honour them and also tell them that I have gotten a mate. And I-” 

“Can you stop yapping for a few seconds? It's annoying ya know.” Leon’s voice was different from before. It was like he was angry or something like that. 

I looked at him, I noticed that his smile had faded away. I didn't know what was making him angry but I didn't want him to be angry with me or anything like that. 

“I am sorry if I was disturbing you in any way, did anything happen? Maybe I can be of help.” I looked at him and I wanted to do anything to make him happy. 

“And what makes you think that you can actually do that?” He was looking me straight in the eye, I didn't hesitate to move close to him. 

“Because I am your mate.” 

He looked at me, and began laughing. I was left confused as to why he was laughing. I was quiet. I didn't make a sound, I just watched him laugh. 

“How stupid and gullible can you be? Did you really believe all that? I thought that you would even question how you are mated with the Alpha.” He was looking at me, I was confused and lost. 

“I don't understand what you mean, you called me your mate and I also felt the pull. That is enough to show me that you're my mate.” 

He walked upto me, he used his hands, and ran them through my hair. “You are really adorable, if you really think that I would choose someone like you as my mate.” 

I didn't know what was happening, I didn't know what to feel or what was happening in front of me. “I don't understand. You clearly called me your mate in front of everyone and you said that I was the one you have been looking for.” 

“Yes I remember saying all that, and yes you are the one that I have looking for. The one that would satisfy all my desires, I couldn't just let such a glorious body die there in an orphanage. I had to make you mine and make sure that you are mine alone.” 

I was holding all my tears back, I couldn't cry here. I was looking at him and I didn't know what I was going to do or what I was feeling inside. 

“What do you mean by that? You called me your mate! You said that I would be yours and you will be mine.” 

“Do you really think that this is some kind of romance story then you should probably wake up. You are not my mate and you will never be my mate.” 

His words hit me like a silver bullet, I let my tears flow freely. I knew that there was no way that I was going to stay there with him. I cleaned my tears and headed for the door. He pulled me back, “Now where do you think you're going?” 

I was struggling to release my arms,  I didn't want to stay here and be used as a toy. I wanted to run away from it all and make sure that I don't remain in the pack. 

“Let go of me. You don't love me so there is no place for me here. Let go of me.” I was trying to pull myself away from him. He lifted me with only one of his hands and flung me across the room. 

I hit my back on the wooden drawer, I looked up and saw him walking up to me. I didn't want him to do anything to me. So out of self-defense, I flung a picture frame at him, he barely dodged it and it gave him a slight cut on his face. 

My heart dropped a beat, I didn't know what he was going to do. He looked at me, there was burning anger in his eyes. He rushed for me and he pulled me by the hair, and threw me out of the corner. 

Before I could react he walked up to me, and began beating me up. I couldn't cover myself from him. It was all pure rage, “Is this the thanks I get for saving you?! Is this the appreciation I get for giving you worth in this useless life of yours?!” 

He was strangling me, I couldn't breathe. “You should count yourself lucky that I am letting you stay here. And if you ever think of leaving, I will end your life.” 

He dropped me to the ground, my head was covered in blood. I couldn't see clearly. I was crawling around looking for something to help stop my bleeding. 

“And before I forget, I, Leon Usborn, Alpha of the FrostBane pack. Reject you as my mate. You will remain here as a slave to me and me alone.”  

My entire body was in pain from the rejection, I could feel Lia cry out in pain. I couldn't move nor could I run. I just sat there and cried. 

“Father help me.”
